Vetnor 297 Posted April 19, 2016 Hi Guys I apologise if this has been asked a million times already but does Admiral Ackbar give every ship in your fleet 2 red dice even if the ship doesn't have red dice in its pool? i.e. Would an MC30 Torp Frigate get 2 red dice even though it only has black and blue dice in its pool? Thanks in advance.
Drasnighta 26,832 Posted April 19, 2016 Yes and No. Ackbar adds Red Dice to the "Modify Attack Dice" Step. So long as you can gather and roll your initial pool of Dice, you can Add Ackbar to it... So what does that mean? At Medium Range, a Torpedo Frigate can Add Ackbar's Red Dice, even though it has no Red Dice... So long as when it goes to shoot, it is in range... The Same Torpedo Frigate can not add Ackbar to a Long Range attack, as it is unable to gather any dice at that range first, and the attack is cancelled. 2 thanosazlin and nathanaelsmith88 reacted to this
Ardaedhel 10,844 Posted April 19, 2016 (edited) Short answer: yes.Medium answer: ... but only if it already has a legal shot.Long answer: The wording on Ackbar is "add 2 red dice to its attack pool." Adding dice to the attack pool happens after the Roll Attack Dice step, during Resolve Attack Effects ("Modify Dice: The attacker can resolve any of its effects that modify its dice"). The last bullet under Resolve Attack Effects: "If the attacker cannot gather any dice appropriate for the range of the attack, the attack is cancelled." Vetnor 297 Posted April 19, 2016 Thanks for the speedy reply Guys. I knew he added to all your ships but didn't know about the range restrictions. Thanks again much appreciated.
Vogons 195 Posted April 20, 2016 but if you have enhanced armament, adding a die to it's armament, then it can Akbar. You have to be aware that an obstruction that removes your EA dice at lost range would stop this though 1 Mad Cat reacted to this
Sybreed 1,110 Posted May 5, 2016 I got a silly question on the wording of Ackbar's ability. When it says "each friendly ship". Does it exclude Ackbar's own ship? Or does it also benefit from its bonus. It would be silly that it can't benefit from its own bonus.

The only wording that would stop it is "Another Friendly Ship" or "Other Friendly Ships". That wording does not apply, ergo, Ackbar works for himself. 1 Sybreed reacted to this

emsgoof 473 Posted May 9, 2016 The Home One card is a good example of this: "When ANOTHER ship ..." Shows it doesn't apply to Home One itself.
