[100] Vader / Inquisitor / "Omega Leader". Worth trimming?

Recommended Posts

Darth Vader + TIE/x1 + Adaptability + Advanced Targeting Computer + Proton Rockets + Engine Upgrade [37]

The Inquisitor + TIE/v1 + Push the Limit + Proton Rockets + Autothrusters [34]

"Omega Leader" + Juke + Comm Relay + Stealth Device [29].

Vader is pretty much self explanatory I guess – gaining the edge over non-VI Vader with minimum investment is nice, and sometimes against the right matchup making all three pilots PS8 could also help in those traffic jam situations and whatnot.

I see people questioning prockets on the Inquisitor as "we all know" he is best kept as a Range 3 sniper. The problem is, an opponent knows it too and it's in his best interest to close-in as fast as possible. And this is where the Inquisitor gets really nasty – prockets with TL+focus are hitting sooo hard.

I really like the way this list looks, feels and flies, my only doubt is that it leaves me with no initiative bid whatsoever. But is it really needed here? I could remove Stealth Device for a massive initiative bid, but that would make "Omega Leader" less survivable... Would you change something in this list?

Thanks for your input!

I think that list looks fine the way it is. There are some lists where initiative bids are really necessary but in this they look merely "nice to have".

I think the upgrades you have bring more to the list the situational bonus of a bid but YMMV. ;)

It's solid, but Prockets are probably excessive on both carriers of them.

This is the problem I've had trying to fit this list together myself - all three aces are so cheap that you end up with a chunk of points left over, but not QUITE enough for another ship.

I think you're better off dropping one of them - not sure which - for a more expensive ship, probably a Defender.  Adaptability Vader, OL and Vessery for instance can be very mean.

I like the double prockets. My main question is the Stealth Device on OL. On the opening engagement, she's probably Target Locking, and a SD without a Focus is not in a good place. It's even worse if multiple ships are firing at it, and multiple ships are OL's traditional weakness. Hull Upgrade is just as good vs many ships as it is against few, and if dice crap out it's not wasted.

I question prockets on Vader more than inq

Inq at least gets full mods and can spend his TL without worrying about ATC the following turn

Well, it's not really 100% given that you're gonna spend TL when firing prockets, since you still have a Focus to modify your roll too. Also, since Vader can perform two actions per turn without any penalty, you can TL as your first action and then still perform an evade or focus action. And having a boost on two-action ship makes it so easy to get in Range 1 to fire those prockets.

It's solid, but Prockets are probably excessive on both carriers of them.

Kind of, but when you manage to maneuver into a position where you can fire both prockets into the same target, it's such an autodelete button that I can't help myself but to keep them both in my list :)

On the other hand, by removing SD from OL and prockets from the Inquisitor, I can swap Vader for "Whisper" (Veteran Instincts, Fire-Control System, Agent Kallus, Advanced Cloaking Device) and 2 points initiative bid. That way it's 5 dice from Range 1 not once, but every single time. Hmm, decisions, decisions...

VI (and possibly Adapt) Vader mean you rarely need the init bid. You're not beating Soontir Fel's PS with your other ships, and everyone else you can manage with or without init, most times.

Prockets on Inq are solid, definitely not wasting your ability at range one anymore. Prockets on Vader are great, too, though I tend to prefer them with Palp in reserve, otherwise your four dice w/ a crit and your five dice might not feel that different. Then again, that fifth hit can be an absolute turning point when you roll well. I personally keep the prockets, but only because Vader's usually my only ship that can take them.

I like the list, but tend to struggle with the question of "third ace or Palp shuttle?" Your OL = a Palp Shuttle. Your Inq is a point over a Palp Shuttle w/ Sensor Jammer (so room for an Electronic Baffle, I guess). Not only is Palp a HUGE boon, the Shuttle is no slouch either.

... But the argument arises of Boba in a Wolf Pack, or Wolf Packs in general eating the shuttle.

Yeah, I'm struggling with choices myself.

Personally, the fact that basically everyone (and their grandmother too) is playing some sort of Palp Shuttle build is enough to make me want to avoid it and seriously consider other options. Don't get me wrong, I perfectly understand the power of Palp lists, it's just that since I'm not going to the Worlds anytime soon... :)

But it's not like a 2 point his really helps (once you get shield over the horribly unreliable SD)

Considering that Vader and Omg L. are only rolling 2 attack die each, pushing through dmg on say Soontir Fel is going to be a nightmare. The prockets give you a huge boost and a liitle incentive to close the gap for at least one attack. Additionally, 5 attack die with a focus ought to put a big dent in a HIgh Hull Ship

Actually, I'm pretty sure that in a vacuum juking "Omega Leader" is much more dangerous to turtled-up Soontir than Vader. But then there is this whole "getting him in the arc" thingy...

I agree, Omg L. is Fel's Achilles Heel, I just wanted to point out how little attack dice you are going to be throwing on an average turn.
