Zanos tops Moodswing in an epic battle of two ISDs chasing down Ackbar's Assault Frigate!

rebels win...

10-0 MOV 396

Zanos played an amazing game. We talked after the match and we agreed that, outside of an unfortunate jumpmaster placement on my part, I don't think I could have played it better. I chased ackbar with both my ISD's, but fell a point short. This is truly a testament to the capabilities of Zanos as a pilot, and it was an honor playing him. I hope to play more games against him in the future.

JRock vs Dorrin kicks off in 5mins

Result:

JRock - 96

Dorrin - 430

MOV 334 (9-1)

I got a bit of thrashing here and was pretty lucky to get even the points that I did. TRC'd CR90's are just evil.  Well played by Dorrin.

First blood was to Dorrin when he killed Stalker (Raider) on turn 2 with the CR90.

It all wrapped up in turn 4 after the following occurred. Devastator went down under concentrated fire from 2 CR90's, an Assault Frigate, and Home One.  Emperors Hand (GSD) finally pegged a CR90 before fleeing the scene with Vader.  Assassin (GSD) went up in flames after being smoked by another CR90 and Home One.

Reflecting on the game, I suspect that I was a bit aggressive in terms of trying to engage the CR90's early and even up the activation count.  Lessons for the next round.

Dorrin vs JRock went to me in a 9-1 MOV of 334

We played his Superior Positions and I was first. I made him come into my Ackbar broadsides through and around some of the obstacles, breaking up his formation giving me time to put some damage on his ISD and kill his raider. I then pelted hit ISD with TRC shots and some front arc shots from my MC 80 and Assault Frigate. One of my corvettes went into close range of one of his GSD's and took near fatal damage from it and the ISD.  Turn 4 is when most everything died. I finished off the ISD with corvette shots while Vader's GSD couldn't corner fast enough and flew off the table but not before killing a corvette. I then killed his last GSD with an Ackbar fueled MC 80 broadside.

Good game to JRock, you made the best of a poor match up.

Skycake versus Ginkapo

Skycake took first player and my fire lanes objective. Set up was three obstaces blocking the middle on his side with the fire lanes tokens in the middle on my side.

Managed two turns of full fire lanes tokens before the ISD and 3 Glads arrived on the scene. However, Mon Mothma and her Red Corvette had to hang around to secure those tokens, and unfortunately got one shotted by a Glad at the start of the next turn so couldnt make her escape. This was a critical point for the game really, as it made all my other ships less durable and obviously a lot of points to lose. I really need to rethink which ship I make my flagship.

As expected the two MC30's dodged their way out of fire whilst giving a good effort at the Glads, but leaving the assualt frigate to take a mighty blow. Though Gallant Haven hung on long enough to claim a fire lane token before dying at the start of turn 4.

Luke was causing mayhem by this point putting serious hurt on the glads in the forms of crits. Behold a game in which all 3 of his bombing runs did damage including two crits. Luke Whiffwalker who? And the YT-2400's were no slouches.

From this point on the MC30's managed to take down one Glad but couldnt touch the ISD holding the fire lanes. Tarkin repaired everyone massively so it was tough to keep the glads hurting. That said at the end of round six, Luke just needed a structural damage to swing the game in my favour, sadly he didnt pull it.

Skycake (188 + 8 tokens) - Mon Mothma's Red Corvette, Gallant Haven and Brains (HWK-290)

Ginkapo (71+10 tokens) - Projection Expert Glad I.

Skycake wins 308 to 221 - 87 MOV (7-3?)

Great Game.

Ninja "beats" Truthiness 400-421. Yes, you read that right. I had 421. Ninja tabled me for 400. Ninja was first player and we played Fire Lanes. Rieekan Squadrons and Clonisher are like the unstoppable force meeting the immovable object. The game ended with all the Fire Lane tokens in my possession and everyone but Screed's Raider dead. Ninja will be posting the log file at some point, but the critical part of the game was his Raider keeping it's front arc on Independence for one more turn via ramming. It gave him another double arc APT shot which he otherwise wouldn't have had. Otherwise, Independence would have limped to the end. Absolutely fantastic game. 5-5 with a 0 MoV.

Viperous (Imperial Entanglements) 7-3 Madaghmire (Thieves in the Knight) 520 - 395 MoV

Very bloody game with almost all ships and squadrons biting the dust. Only survivors were a lone YV and Incestuous (APT Raider).

Madag played really well and if it hadn't been for a reroll which gave me the crit I needed for APT on the last turn of the game, he would have won.

Madag's anti ship rolling for squads was very unlucky and I'm sure the outcome would probably have been different had it gone his way with the dice.

Very enjoyable game. Madag was an excellent opponent and am looking forward to future games with him.

I will write a fuller report tomorrow. Right now I need some sleep.

Edit. Put in revised Mov and updated score after check on the rules from 7-3 to 8-2.

Sorry if I've messed people around with this, I was exhausted after the game and just wanted to pen the result before I went to bed.

Viperous also played extremely well. A regression to the mean on dice would certainly have helped me out, but Vipe played an outstanding game, and made real use of yv-666's. Which up to now I had thought was the stuff of myth. A ton of fun, hats off. Edited by Madaghmire

After A LOT of testing I knew that this was going to be a mess.  Truthiness has a great fleet and impeccable objectives.  I had to go with Fire Lanes because Advanced Gunnery on that MC-80 would be bad.  Also Superior Positions would probably put me out of position.  My goal was to try and kill those three zombies as quick as possible without losing all of my little Raiders.

Truthiness pushed Yavaris and the B wall fast.  They were about halfway down the board at the end of turn one.  I gambled and sent Demolisher at Yavaris right away. It took care of business on the double tap but there was no getting out of the way.  His zombie Yavaris and its double-tapping squads killed Demo with ease.

I had worried about Screed's Raider and left it out of the conflict.  I was hoping he'd survive to give me the win.  My only shot was the front of my three remaining raiders slowly pushing forward.  The CR90B was no match for a double Arced Raider.  It got zombified easily.  Then the MC80 took revenge and killed the same Raider.  On that move the MC-80 was forced to push into range of my awaiting Raiders.  With Screed, APTs and a little ramming the 8 hull would eventually succumb.  Then the Zombified MC-80 popped the remaining Raiders (so easily with his squads!)

Truthiness is an amazing opponent and I'm honored to have played him.  We had an incredibly fun, clean, and action-packed match! If ever a match deserved a 5-5 this was it. I look forward to another game!

I've attempted to place the vlog in the other thread.  Hopefully it works.

Viperous (Imperial Entanglements) 7-3 Madaghmire (Thieves in the Knight) 520- 395 mov

I bagged the initiative. We chose Fire Lanes as the objective as none of the others were very favorable to me (Most Wanted on my Anti-Squad Impetuous wouldn't have been cool, nor would a ton of howling A-wings around your ISDs backside raking in the tokens for Superior Positions). I was top, Madag was bottom.

I deployed in a fairly regular battle line with a Raider slightly to the left (trying to get some points for me from a token screened by asteroids) and my ISD in the centre. Madag deployed one of his AFs facing the ISD with the other almost parallel to the table edge. All those squads were stacked up in front of them.

1st turn: My left and Right Raiders closed in on their specified ofjectives ( the cr90 and the fire lane token). I tried to roughly keep them together at this stage. Madag maneuevered both Afs so they were on a broadside to my ISD with both tokens in between (Madag made a slight error giving me a free 15 points by leaving a squadron on top of a token).

          Tokens : (Madag) 2-1 (Me) - Ships killed: 0-0  - Squadrons killed: 0-0

2nd turn: By either a tremendous amount of luck or an amount of foresight I had set a Squadron command on my ISD, so I threw in all my squads, engaging all of Madag's fighters and doing some damage. A Raider then managed to APT the cr90 before zooming round the back to continue the attack next go. Madag's fighters finally broke free after my Jumpmaster expired under severe Squad fire, but were held up by fire from the Impetuous, which killed several of them coupled wth Rs and a YV. I managed to swipe 2 of the tokens with my ISD.

       Tokens:  3-3 - Ships killed: 0-0  - Squadrons killed: 1-2

3rd Turn: I activated my Raider first to kill his cr90, before my ISD started to feel the pain after shots from both AFs wiped away all its shields. I ran over a YV so unfortunately that was away for the rest of the game(until round 6, where it killed a scurrg at the death). I got all 3 tokens this round as Madag's AFs were moving away from the ISD (camped around the tokens).

The Impetuous was then brutally shot to pieces by Bombers and the leading AF, but it managed to scrape a few more decent shots on the squads before ramming Madag's flagship and then dying.

       Tokens: 3-6 - - Ships killed: 1-1 - Squadrons killed: 1-4

4th Turn: This round things began to go bad for the ISD. Bossk, the main shield since the 2nd round (taking on 6 squadrons single handedly) went down in an angry fashion and the door was open. The Bombers and A wings swarmed in, with the As racking up damage whereas the bombers only rolled 2 damage once and missed 3 times. Madag's dice were extremely unfavorable. The ISD was having its shields stripped away, and getting next to no damage on either AF. Madag also snatched another token with a double arc on the far right one.

       Tokens: 4-8 - - Ships killed: 1-1 - Squadrons killed: 2-7

5th Turn: The ISD, which I had sped up to 3 on the previous round, hit both AFs hard with gunnery team, doing serious damage to both (leaving them on 3 and 2 health respectively after a ram on his Flagship). Unfortunately I had kindly left Madag a double arc of which he took full advantage of, mauling my ISD to pieces by the end of the round. My YVs were getting decent hits in still on the fighters and Bossk'd it (on 1 health) took down  another A and a Scurrg before dying to counter. My Cr90-killing Raider (Incestuous) then opened fire on the Af, stripping shields away before killing it with a CF front arc at the end of the round. My other Raider took some serious damage to leave it on 1 hull after some clever squadron activating by Madag, but that 1 hull was enough for me. Madag stole 1 token after almost all our ships were outa range.

    Tokens: 5-8 - - Ships killed: 2-2 - Squadrons killed: 3-9

6th Turn: I activated Infectious first after  had moved into position on the previous round, APTing through the mass of shields to hit the Flagship's hull before ramming home (and dying in the process but it was enough). If I hadn't got the crit for APT the game was Madag's for sure.

      Tokens: 5-8 - Ships killed: 3-3 - Squadrons killed: 3-10

Total MOV (Me, Tabling + 120 points for tokens = 520

                 (Madag, 388 (my list) - 53 (Raider) - 15 (YV) + 75 points for tokens = 395

Total mov = 125 (7-3).

(I made an error in my calculations in the previous post, I used Madag's list cost (392) as the starting point for my Mov nstead of 400, so that's where the extra 8 points have come from).

GG. It was an awesome and brutal game. Really enjoyed it, made less errors than I thought I would, and Madag was a great opponent! Sorry for the drawn out report but I don't think either of us logged it so it's the best we have. My YVs were outstanding (although I ran one over), they got extremely lucky with a lot of their rolls.

The best competitive Vassal game I have played due to how it went down to the wire.
