=THE GALACTIC CIVIL WAR= Massive Armada Tournament

Recommended Posts

Zanos and I managed to finished up our game today and I'm happy to report an Empire victory.

9-1 (400-136)

Zanos running an Ackbar list was player one against my VSD Rhymerball. We played Fleet Ambush. I forget what two ships were in the ambush zone that was so a week ago :-)

Anyway Ackbar ended up in front of my path with two CR90s and an MC30 that went for my flank.

Over the course of 4 turns, first the 2 CR90s went, then the MC30 (Bombers got him) and finally Ackbar in his AF.  In trade I lost one VSD, thankfully Tarkin wasn't on that one.

Thanks to Zanos for the game he was punching hard.

So my computer may be dead. Its had a good run but what I thought would be an easy fix has lingered and I'm not sure I'll be able to fix it at all, let alone in time to play my game. If anyone wants to take over for me, please let me and PT106 know. I haven't given up all hope but at this point its not looking great given time constraints.

Its very frustrating because I didnt get to play him at regionals and I wanted a shot at that fleet, because I love the concept and I know he flies it well.

This is very unfortunate as I was looking forward for this game as well. Wel... lets hook up and do it next time I'll be in NY area (which happens pretty often).

Matt-Shadowlord (playing for GreenSquadron3) vs Miferr:

Rebels win 362 326 to 13

An Imperial Star Destroyer, Gladiator, Raider and 4 Tie-Fighters gave their lives to kill one Xwing. Let's hope it was the one carrying the droid with plans to the deathstar!

A well played game by Miferr, despite the way the scoreline looks.

Replay, starting at the beginning of turn 3, just after the ISD has decided it prudent to turn away from the combat zone.

I might be able to play this one if you are on today PT.

I was definitely outplayed...I possibly could have played to a lower MOV by running once I realized I wouldn't destroy a ship, but what fun is that?  :)

And I believe the final score was 326-13. It doesn't make a difference in the Empire's loss, but it's more of a pride thing that it wasn't a 10-0.  :D

Can't do today as I'll be watching NC regionals instead :( So, only tomorrow evening for me.

PT versus Madaghmire (aka Ginkapo)

70pts to 330pts in Mads favour. 260MOV 9-1 to the rebels.

Picked Most Wanted from his objectives. Mottis Raider and the trailing Assault Frigate selected.

Thx to having so many squads I was able to deploy both frigates to swirl the fight. Which they did. And hands off to Mad, the combination of TRC's and squad spam burns ships down FAST.

PT was testing out whether burning through squads in the early rounds instead of ships helps. The jury is out on that one.

And Hartley vs Iandiger (aka WGNF911) finshed 215 to 224 in the imperials favour thx to Hartley flying Ackbar of the board AGAIN. Rumours that he is being court marshalled on suspicion of being an imperial spy.

AND THE GALATIC WAR IS OVER. (on time)

Zanos vs tgall is on hold until Friday. Currently a very close game, and no matter the outcome the Imperial Propagandists will likely want to stay away from it seeing all the holes in those beautiful space triangles :P Great game though, and tgall is playing phenomenally!

Thanks for all the kind words Zanos.... and the Lasers!

It's been a fun one. I have one word for Admiral Fishface tho : Sushi!  :-D

So what was the final score of TGall vs Zanos?

I am also pleased to be able to announce the highest scoring teams from each faction, two teams that smashed two rounds with 4-1 results before facing off against each other in the decisive round 3 for a 3-2:

Heroes of the Rebellion
Hoth Command
[]     BiggsIRL - Gen Rieekan
[] Dab Darklighter   - Mon Mothma
[] MattShadowlord  - Garm Bel Iblis
[] Dorrin314  - Ackbar
[] NebulonB   - General Dodonn

11 Wins 4 Losses!

Defenders of the Empire
New Order
[] Clontroper5 - Admiral Screed
[] CaptainICT - Admiral Vader
[] Doobleg - Admiral Motti
[] Ma22a - Admiral Ozzel
[] Skycake - Govenor Tarkin
10 Wins 5 Losses!

Well done by the players and their captains.

I'd also like to thank everyone who participated, especially those who played games against people from awkward time zones or filled in for other people who couldn't fit their game in. The captains did a stellar job, and Caribbean Ninja was a terrific co-organiser.

I hope you all enjoyed it!

On a related note, Hoth Command is pleased to offer the following commendations to it's various units:

Unit Citation For Exemplary Conduct: Dorrin314

Dorrin not only won all 3 of his matches, but did so in a spectacular manner, scoring 28 tournament points over 3 games. Dude, you crushed it.

Unit Citation for Meritous Valor: MattShadowlord

Not only did Matt win all 3 of his games as well, but he did so against some of the very stiff competition, frequently being paired against moderate to poor matchups in order to get better pairings elsewhere.

Yavin Campaign Medal - NebulonB

And another 3-0, quietly racking up wins as the 4th or 5th guy in our assignment rotation. Hell of a tournament, Neb!

Hero of the Republic - DabDarklighter

But if you want a guy who won against really bad matchups, Dab went 2-1 against lists he had no business being matched up against, and was the #2 guy being regularly tossed to the wolves as part of our matchup strategy. Well done! On any other team you'd be a shoe in for MVP.

Alderaan Memorial Cross - BiggsIRL

Let us take a moment to remeber the crews of the Compensator, Idiot's Array, Pure Sabacc, and Jaina's Light, who cannot join us in our celebrations today. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Wow, I made 7th (6th actually, I beat Ginkapo's MoV) . Got to thank LTD for that one. . .

Thank you to Ginkapo for being such a capable tactician and Leader! Great choices on who faced who.

Last two sentences were a great start to my day, laugh on the face.

Thx BiggsIRL for leading, good to have a captain who gets it right most of the times!
