Regenerating Tank List

Recommended Posts

So I was thinking about the following list:

Kanan Jarrus (VCX-100)

+ghost

+dorsal turret

+c3po

+recon specialist

Sabine Wren (Attack Shuttle)

+Phantom

+Hera Syndulla

Biggs Darklighter (X-Wing)

+R5-D8 (Action: Roll 1 defense die. On a (eye) or (evade) result, discard 1 of your facedown Damage cards.)

+Experimental Interface

The main upgrade synergy here being that Biggs Darklighter can remove flip down damage cards EVERY ROUND with CERTAINTY, using R5-D8 and C-3PO. So as long as you dont have criticals (a lot of criticals can be flipped down in the new deck!) you can remove damage every round.

Added bonus offcourse is Kanan taking away an attack dice, which further ups the survivability of Biggs.

Before Biggs gets destroyed, you should at least be able to fire back a couple of times (if you keep the phantom docked, you can attack twice with the ghost, if you position right) and even if Biggs bites the eventual dust, you still have a High Hull ship with Kanan and an Agile Attack Shuttle to kick some ass!

Using R5-D8 instead of R2, means you have more move options instead of only greens. and with C3PO your action is a sure win!

Experimental interface gives you even more action options and can also be used to remove those crits with actions to flip down.

In my opinion C3PO and R5-D8 can work together, but I might be reading the cards wrong. Where it might fail is that C-3PO says "ADD a (evade) result" and not "CHANGE TO a (evade) result" So actually you add a dice. Though the R5-D8 does not specify the result needs to be on that first die!

What do you guys thing? Have I het Tank Gold or rather an Upgrade Synergy Failure? :) Discuss!

If you want to try regenerating Biggs then R2-D2 would work. The problem is that because of his rule, Biggs tends to take a real pounding and dies in 1-2 turns. R2-D2 can only regenerate 1 shield per turn and costs the same as an extra shield upgrade. That means in order to be worth more than a shield upgrade, R2-D2 needs to regenerate at least 2 shields. This means that Biggs needs to survive for at least 2 turns after he starts taking damage.

That is a tall order for a pilot who's special rule forces everyone to shoot at him.

In general, it is better to focus on damage mitigation rather than outright regeneration. That is why R4-D6 is such a popular choice with Biggs. It only costs 1 point but means no single attack can cause more than 2 points of damage (important now that ordnance is starting to become popular). Kanan's ability to dial down attacks is useful against smaller attacks and helps reduce the "death by a thousand cuts".

Putting Jan Ors on the Ghost will also help as it allows Biggs to receive an Evade token instead of a Focus token which is another guaranteed point of damage mitigation. Based on that, I would suggest the following list instead:

Kanan Jarrus (VCX-100)

+ghost

+dorsal turret

+Jan Ors

+recon specialist

Sabine Wren (Attack Shuttle)

+Phantom

+Push the Limit

+Kyle Katarn

Biggs Darklighter (X-Wing)

+R4-D6

+Integrated Astromech (just before he dies, Biggs can jettison R4-D6 to negate one point of damage, potentially keeping 1 more attack off the Ghost).

These changes save you 6 points in total which is enough to buy Push the Limit and Kyle Katarn for your assault shuttle. This crazy combination now means that you can perform 3 actions and receive a free Focus token provided you chose a green move on your dial.

Alternatively, Fire Control system works well on the Ghost with the Phantom docked as it works twice per turn to provide free target locks while still leaving Kanan free to Focus.

Afraid you're reading it wrong. 3PO works on his ship, the 'you' on his card refers to his ship. Biggs cannot help himself to his ability. Sorry!

Ah, bummer, I thought the "you" was just "me" :) it would have been nice if that worked though. Thanks for the correction!

That is a very nice alternative! Thanks :)

Maybe one day, if the rebels too get a ship with both an astromech slot en crew slot, my regenerator idea will come to live again! :P

Now that Scum has such a ship, the chance of the rebels one day getting one just went up, so here's hoping! Maybe in the same wave as that damned Assault Gunboat everyone keeps hoping for ;)
