Lack of information on Necrons

Recommended Posts

So, I have to admit I am looking at getting into Conquest, I have three of the core set and one of each expansion, up to the Necron Expansion, and the two sagas, with plans to get the two Deathworld Cycles soon. However, I have to admit I am a little bit wary of keeping the pre order at this point. I think the big thing that is making me hesitant is the fact that the Legions of Death are delayed, they were due to release this quarter. While CSI has them listed as Second Quarter, the lack of information on the delay as far as I can tell, in addition to the history FFG is developing where Warhammer products is concerned has me questioning whether an investment of 233 dollars is wise, or even worth it. If Legions of Death was delayed till Gen Con, and they made this known, which would be third quarter, that is one thing. I could change what I am ordering but still pick up the game. But the absolute silence on something that is, at this point late, is worrisome to a prospective new player in light of a history of abandoned or rushed to 'completion' Warhammer/40k games.

3+ months with no word however, is not. Especially if they are announcing other expansions of the same product. If they release it at Gen con, that is half a year after the stated release date was announced. And FFG has a very bad history where Warhammer is concerned.

Warhammer Invasion is all I have to say on that. Again though, it isn't the delay that has me wary. I am fine with delays. It is the absolute lack of information on the delay, or the new announced date. When Star Wars Armada was delayed, they announced it before the originally planned release date. And I think the delay has to do with the lack of active forums, either on the website, or elsewhere. Yes, Warhammer/40k is niche, but when this is compared to FFG's big flag ships at this point: Star Wars, or Descent, Lord of the Rings, or Game of Thrones it isn't a good thing for the game's longevity with a company has a history of just abandoning a game line already.

Not sure why all the hyper ventilating about this at this point.

The release dates that come with the product announcements have never been 100% accurate, often they are laughably inaccurate.

We will see the 5th War Pack likely Thursday next week, and the 6th Warpack 4-5 weeks later followed a month later by Necrons.

Once again: I don't care that the date is inaccurate. If things are delayed, they are delayed. What I care about is the silent delay without an announcement, when they aren't afraid to announce delays for things such as Star Wars. And this is related to an IP that FFG has a bad history of supporting.

Happy now? :D

Also it's "At the Printers" now, and LCG stuff (from what I have seen) tends to spend less time at the printers (and on the boat) than, say, X-Wing.  I'm guessing it will show up, in normal LCG fashion, either right between Final Gambit and the start of the next cycle, or right around the start of the next cycle.  100% as expected.

And also, in what alternate universe has FFG ever announced delays about Star Wars stuff?  I love FFG, they are my favorite game company.  They are, however, practically allergic to officially announcing delays.  About anything.
