How Many More Star Wars Films Do Disney Have Planned?

Recommended Posts

Oh it's already pretty bad, but I like it for the setting. I don't have the people or time to play 40k, let alone X-Wing. I only like X-Wing for the ships without the subpar writing or kids to go with them, it's practically the only thing keeping me in this franchise besides fond memories of the old EU and games.

If it wasn't for ADB (he's actually a standup guy), I'd probably have Emperor's Children. Except GW likes ******* over Legion players. You unfortunately don't know the green weenie until you play Chaos Marines or now the IG or non-tourney nids.

I don't expect good things if TFA or the new EU books are any indication of direction. The franchise will be milked harder. Will they be Legacy or Prequel bad? Probably not, but they bought the franchise for the merchandise lines, so I expect younger and softer audiences to be catered too.

Ironically Disney is the reason I want to get back into 40k.

I don't understand where this belief that Disney = light and happiness comes from. Too focused on their animated work (which some of which is pretty dark)? Sure, Pixar is the "ultimate grimdark" that many seem to want, but many of their films are very mature. From what I've heard, Rogue One is going to be darker than the normal Star Wars film.

It'll make you want to murder the director as he cuts away from stuff you want to see so yeah pretty dark.

I don't know if you can make 10 good movies though,

10 good movies? Then we need 6 more movies becuz the prequals weren't exactly good...

I don't know if you can make 10 good movies though, without it becoming rehashes.

To late! I'm looking at you: TFA! ;)

Ofcourse there is the theory that there are only about seven "core stories" that man has been telling trought history, and that every book or movie is just avariation of it. (Example: the protagonist is on a quest and is acompagnied by a wise mentor and meets up with other characters who join him on his quest.)

At this rate there'd be bringing out Matt the radar technician : a Star Wars story !

I'm looking forward to shenda: story of a twi'lek dancer.

Is she the one who Jabba dropped in the rancor pit?  I don't like downer endings.

2 trilogies in this post-RotJ era already planned, and 3 Anthology movies coming, and that's just the tip of the iceberg...

Wait, TWO post-Jedi trilogies have been planned already?

What's the other one?

Return of the Gungans...

Please tell me which Disney movies have actually been thought provokingly Dark. Where good and bad is really just arbitrarily grey.

Maturity doesn't detract from being boring fairy tales. Which is likely the road this is going.

Equaling dark with being mature is usually the sign of pre-post-adolescence.

I for one am getting sick of the gritty reboots. Give me some optimism, if I want gritty, I'll go to one of the dozens of refugee centers mushrooming in my country. If I want dark I'll plan a holiday to a Greek island. Cheap as chips, but you do have to help with dragging the refugees out of the sea.

Many Disney films have not shied away from death.

Equaling optimism with relief is usually a sign of not having your life together. I'm equally sick of the ambient black and white rehashes just as I am of how one sided 98% of this particular franchise is.

Although I'd rather re-enlist than go to Greece, or most of Europe.

Then maybe you need to ask yourself if this franchise is really for you. I have determined that the MCU isn't for me, even though I read a bunch of comics. There is nothing wrong with not liking the direction something is going (though, awefully tough to determine that at this point in time in the new Star Wars stuff) and leaving quietly. I don't see the main films diverging from the grander good vs evil narrative.

I've already made that judgement. Hence why I've ignored Battlefront and most new EA games for Dark Souls 2 and, implying I even have time, 3.

I wonder if I can get a Pathfinder group.

I bought PS4 for Battlefront. Just picked up Bloodborne to practice for DS3. Good times.
