Hexdot 1,340 Posted February 27, 2016 I want to buy one for one of my cousins ( not for me, the truth ) and there is a beautiful one but it is...220 euros !!! Quite expensive to give it to a 10 years old boy. The employee told me that it is the only one legal sword, scale 1:1. If you have some info about this, or a link to a online store with a discount, it will be welcome. SW stuff is not cheap but 220 is quite...too much
bkoran 185 Posted February 27, 2016 I guess it depends on what kind of sword you're after. - They've got the typical ones with a collapsing plastic blade. Those are usually pretty cheap, and meant to be played with. - They've got the Ultimate FX with a solid plastic blade that lights up, and makes noise. Those are moderately expensive and meant more for looking at instead of playing with. - And apparently they've recently started with the Black Series FX Deluxe... which are basically the same as the Ultimate FX above, except more of a limited edition which is why they're so pricy. So if "your cousin" wants to take it outside and play with it, you may consider getting the cheaper one. If it's just going to hang on the wall or sit on a shelf and get shown to company every once in a while, then get the Ultimate FX.
Firespray-32 5,424 Posted February 27, 2016 (edited) 220 euros is a lot for a plastic sword for a 10 year old. I'd be expecting a display replica for that sort of price. Edited February 27, 2016 by Blue Five 1 Grayfax reacted to this

ParadigmPainting 70 Posted February 27, 2016 I wouldn't get the collapsible one, in person I thought it looked really bad. However, the Ultimate FX one looks and sounds great, and (nerdiest thing I've written in a while coming up...) actually handles really well in a duel. Got a very natural weight to it, lends itself to being used exactly like in the film, and the quillions genuinely open up a lot of new techniques (catch the opponent's blade in the hilt, give a sharp flick of the wrist, next thing they know their saber is 5 feet away on the floor and your blade is at their heart! ). Yes, I am a grown up. No, that doesn't stop me (or my brother) from whacking lightsabers around... For a 10 year old, though... yeah, they'll have a whale of a time with the Ultimate FX one! 2 Grayfax and Hexdot reacted to this

Grayfax 991 Posted February 27, 2016 I keep putting off buying one from SaberForge... but I completely want to get one that I can duel with and not break it. Not cheap, but to start with I don't need the soundboard... that will come later...
FTS Gecko 24,135 Posted February 27, 2016 Wait, what? You can buy lightsabres? You mean I ran through that kinrath nest and harvested those Krayt Dragon pearls for nothing?! 3 Grayfax, Dagonet and Conandoodle reacted to this
UnfairBanana 2,251 Posted February 28, 2016 I'm gonna make a shoutout to Ultrasabers and TheCustomSaberShop. I've bought stuff from both, and they're super high quality. If you're gonna buy an FX saber, I'd suggest getting something super durable. At least, that's if you wanna duel with it. If you want a movie-replica to sit on a wall mount or something, the FX are perfect. But I've taken an Ultrasaber and based it against trees & brick buildings with no damage to the blade or hilt components. 1 Arterial Spray reacted to this
Hexdot 1,340 Posted February 28, 2016 This is a whole new world to me. Fx ones are not cheap, but I think I will order one of those, and zero drama. The sword in the store was, I presume, a black FX. Standard ones seem more affordable.
