TryerImp 44 Posted February 23, 2016 Bantha Beast Tamer 2 x Tusken Raiders Temporary Alliance Leia Gideon This leaves 8 points to spend. Would you go Elite Nexu + Punishing Strike or Elite Wampa?? Command cards are: Jundlant Terror x 2 Crush Ferocity Take Initative Negation Opportunistic Element of Surprise Planning Take it Down Recovery Behind Enemy Lines Single Purpose Urgency Field Tactician. Urgency, Field Tactician and Beast Tamer are there to move the Bantha and Wampa around so they will both cover more ground than opponent is expecting. And then Leia hopefully gets some Surges to gain Urgency and Field Tactician back again along with other useful cards.
thereisnotry 923 Posted February 23, 2016 I think you definitely want another beast in there so that Beast Tamer is still good after the Bantha dies. Personally, I like the Nexu more than the Wampa, because (as others have said), the Wampa will need to use Beast Tamer during the first round or two, which is when the Bantha will also need it. The Nexu, on the other hand, can do just fine on his own until the Bantha is dead. Furthermore, if the situation presents itself and if your opponent is managing to stay away from the Bantha during the first round, you could use Beast Tamer on the Nexu (w Focus from your Gideon) to make a "Nexu-missile" (move 12 then Pounce 3 to put some good damage on a significant but fragile piece). The Nexu will likely die, but if you can drop an opponent's Gideon or 3P0 with it, then that's a lot less Focus you'll be having to deal with for the rest of the match. I'm not sure how effective it will be, but it could be fun to play around with and test. 1 DerBaer reacted to this
Masterchiefspiff 749 Posted February 23, 2016 You have 8 points left? I'd say upgrade one set of Tuskens for 2 points and then elite Nexu for the other 6. They're a lot of fun with the beast tamer and Gideon's focus, and it's never bad to upgrade the Tuskens if you have the points. 1 TryerImp reacted to this

The elites are just so much better for their points and you still have room for the elite nexu.
TryerImp 44 Posted February 23, 2016 (edited) Thought about the elite Tuskens as well with the Nexu but then you are losing out with getting a stun (Punishing Strike) whereas the Wampa gets this along with Bleed. fast and good hitting Vs slow (but maybe quck) and hard hitting The command cards seen to be a good spread of damage and movement so not sure if I would change anything there though. I would be careful relying on the wampa for stun. Red die is only a 1/6 chance of getting the surge, but that would be slightly mitigated by focus from Gideon. It's a risky prospect, but at the point the Wampa throws 3 dice at something it will one shot most figures and the stun becomes redundant. The Nexu can do the same thing with higher mobility than the Wampa with auto cleave and auto bleed, making it equally as deadly against weaker figures and guaranteed putting a bleed on anything stronger. If you don't want to run elite Tuskens, I would advise just removing them. The regulars are truly pathetic by comparison to the elite, and they are barely worth the points. I would sooner take elite hired guns for 1 more point than regular Tuskens. Edited February 23, 2016 by Crabhand 1 thereisnotry reacted to this
TryerImp 44 Posted February 23, 2016 (edited) I was originally looking at getting a tusken raiding force with 2 Banthas and Tusken Raiders, (1 of them elite) (only have 4 figures) and then add in Gideon. Thought about adding in Dengar as he is dressed in desert robes, but it didn't look right for competitive play. KayJay2011 8 Posted February 25, 2016 I think the Elite Nexu is the way to go, though I have been playing with Wampas, both elite and regular, and they are a lot better than most people give them credit for... They hit like trucks.
