Armada Team Tournament - Vassal

Recommended Posts

Because its the 7th post on the page, aka the 667th post.

ah this is not including the OP. When I posted that it was the exact 666th "reply" I guess

I was useing the number at the top of the page

You're still confusing me Clon. The only number I see is the one above each post, and yours clearly says #667
at the top of the page under the page numbers it says "675 replies to this topic"

I got on this morning when that said 665 i posted the 666 reply (which is actually the 667th post including the op)

Edit: also I never realised that the posts were numbered because from my phone those are Microscopic...

Jarenis vs Miferr!

Tough game but came out with a win. 398-92 jarenis's way which is a 9-1 i believe.

Miferr is a fantastic player to play against very calculated. He chose first player then chose superior positions which let me set up a trap to entangle him in. End of the game Miferr had 4 victory tokens and killed 2 Yt2400s to his TOTAL ANNIHALATION!!!!!!!! All and all, couple rolls either way could have changed it.

GG Miferr and goodluck mate.

Matt-Shadowlord  FULL JAR JAR vs  Conscientious Objector of Objectionable Content is now complete.

This was a great game!

Conscientious Objector's fleet included rarely seen choices like a Raider-2, Heavy Turbolaser Turrets and Montferrat on an ISD (this Star Destroyer is going so fast, noone can see me!), plus some great choices like Motti and double tractor beam ISDs, and he used them very well. As first player I selected Dangerous Territory as the least of three evils, and CO sprung a trap as early as turn 2, with one of my Frigates being hit by two tractor beams and then pinned in by the raider acclerating to speed 4 and leapfrogging an ISD. I could have activated the AFB earlier, but was patiently saving it for last in order to get more value out of its guns. As it happened, I had nav order stored so could have just squeezed past the raider... into close range arc of another ISD and the Raider itself. Instead I put it on a suicide mission, firing into Motti's ISD then sideswiping it, then firing again next turn before it was destroyed by Motti and some impressive damage that HTT made unsurvivable.

That gave CO a large advantage in points, but the damage from this action was enough to make Motti vulnerable, and he was later chased down and killed by a Corvette. My two corvettes did most of the heavy lifting in this match, operating at close range from the rear most turns, and they eventually brought down the second ISD.

Final result

Dangerous Territory Tokens 60
2x Yt2400 32
Tycho 16
AFB 72+27

=207

Dangerous Territory Tokens  30
2x Tie Advanced 24
ISD 131 + Motti 24
ISD 126
=335

MOV 128
7-3 win to Matt and the Jar Jars.
Very well played by Conscientious Objector; seriously if I had known he was this good, I would have changed my activation order in turn 2 dramatically :D

Tournament game on now:

CaribbeanNinja's Massive Bomber fleet

vs

Swagrendar's Squadronless Star Destroyers

It's early in the game, but one of Swagrendar's ISDs has a face full of bombers. However he is soon going to open fire on 3 Vics with 2 Gunnery Team Intel ISDs and a Demolisher.
It's about to get real.

Game report from Swagrendar vs CaribbeanNinja!

10 - 0 Victory to Swagrendar

Swagrendar 420 - 0 CaribbeanNinja

First off this does not reflect the game, Caribbeans positioning was great, his dice just decided to take the night off. I think his bomber and Vic hit rate was under 30%. Final round, 4 bombers and an advanced to do 1 damage to kill a ISD,  missed on all but 2, which I could redirect to precious shields.

Demolisher did Demolisher things, he punched forward turn 2 and then anihilated a VIC, then turn after coming around the back to harrass from behind his VIC line.

All the while his other 2 vics and 10 squadrons were putting dice into my ISD,   the game finished with a double arc shot from my second ISD on tarkins VIC, and then a ram on his 2 health VIC. The following turn I activated the same ISD and front arc'd on Tarkin for the kill and another front arc on the 2 health VIC to get both.

Sportsmanship award should definitely go to CaribbeanNinja. If it was me with those dice, you would all be seeing me in a news report on world news by about the time I finish writing this for some sort of atrocity or warcrime in Sydney.

CaribbeanNinja on the other hand never complained once, just smiled and laughed. Legend of a bloke.

First off this really means more to me than anything and I really appreciate it!  This was the most fun you could have while being totally destroyed! :) Our game even had CubanSeñorita cheerleaders! (I'll post the logfile....)

Swag played this really well.  I play-tested this matchup all week (yes all week dammit) and he ran a perfect version of what I thought Contested Outpost would look like.   It is NOT easy to table this fleet but Swag cleaned up!  Tarkin has taken steps from his escape pod to issue self-destruct commands to all of those damned bombers and gunners. :)

Now my only sadness comes from the fact that another tournament has ended for me.  Please help us Biggs, you're our only hope. (Read: please do not get tired of us and doing this!)

Now that I'm at work and have time to post about the game...:) I think by "very calculated" he means slow. :) I have two monitors and still get flustered trying to see everything going on.

It was a fun game, though I was playing right into his ship's strengths. I really went after Mon Mothma but she was able to wriggle away, then it was all downhill from there as I was surrounded.

I also think the score is incorrect and does not properly reflect the annihilation. I didn't question Jarenis' calculation at the time, but now that I think about it, there's no way his score should have been under 400. It should have been 400 for the tabling, then 30 for the victory tokens. 430-92=338 MOV. Barely still a 9-1! Let me know if I'm wrong, I want to understand the rule here.

The Vanguard 34	546	1
Objectionable Content 34	406	2

Notes:

Bacta the Future is in the Driver's Seat.  A 5 - 5 draw with their last game guarantees them the tournament win.  Anything above a 3 - 7 puts them in position to win, pending the result of Church of Rocco's game.

Also in the running is Chaos Shanghaied, who can almost guarantee the tournament win with a 10-0 victory, due to their MOV advantage.  Anything less than an 8 - 2 win puts the out of the running.

Church of Rocco can still take 1st place, but needs help.  Chaos Shanghaied has to win by at least 6 - 4, then Church has to win by quite a bit:

10 - 0 for a 6 - 4 or 9 - 1 Chaos Win

9 - 1 against a 7 - 3 or 8 - 2 Chaos win.

This makes:  Reath vs Moodswing - Friday April 8th @ 1900 CDT / 0000 GMT / Saturday April 9th @ 1000 AEST a game to watch.  Reath needs a big win without knowing the results of Chilligan vs Madaghmire to set up for a possible Church victory, while Moodswing is just trying to get the Vanguard out of the gutter, back into the top 1/2 of the standings.
