Armada Team Tournament - Vassal

Maturin (1st player) vs Pilot no55389

Obj:  Most Wanted

Points:  444 to 191, MoV 253 (9-1)

A very exciting game, with two glass cannon lists facing each other.  I had initiative though, which gave me quite an advantage throughout the game.   Foresight pulled an Ackbar (sans Ackbar) and took out Screed and a Gladiator early on.  Mon Mothma managed to hold her disintegrating ship together for most of the game (Lando had a clutch save), until Demolisher caught up with her on turn 5 and took its revenge.  Admonition pulled up next to Demolisher on turn 6 and (again with first activation) unloaded a good broadside, finishing off PIlot's last ship and ending the game.  Pilot killed both my CR90's and one YT2400, but couldn't quite put enough firepower on the shrimps to overcome their defenses.

Thanks to Pilot for a very good, and tension-filled game!

Chaos / Bacta - All of your games are potential matchups of the week.  Let me know when you're playing ASAP!

Pending final confirmation, (though this is Zanos' suggested time,) it looks like my game will be Sunday 2100 Eastern/2000 Central/0100 GMT (Monday) tomorrow. (With a small chance of it starting a bit late.)

Hello matchup-of-the-week.

Gotta put together a preview real quick and maybe find some booth buddies.

Still waiting to hear from MoffZen - he hasn't read my email yet, apparently. Still, plenty o' time. :)

Slightly less time, now, and still no word from my opponent. I've emailed the team captain so see if we can sort something out. :)

Zanos(first) vs Captain ICT

Objective: Hyperspace assault

400-123 favoring Zanos, 277 MOV 9-1 win for team Bacta the Future

Great game, my aggressive tactics worked out and the dice did no favors for ICT, but the cap took it like a champ. My mc30 had a torpedo run of a lifetime, and after that i was able to shred his MC80 with the rest of my fleet. Go check out the twitch link when Biggs has it up!

JJs Juggernaut (1st Player) vs Green Knight

Objective: Precision Strike

MoV 185 (402-217)

8-2 Victory for Bacta the Future!

This was a really great game, and was fantastically played by Green Knight. The objective really killed him though, with 14 tokens for me, and only 2 for him; if not for those, we score 5 MoV with me just barely winning. Deployment was very interesting, with a wall of obstacles blocking our fleets from each other. My Instigator was on his side, planning for a quick boom through. This game felt like a high stakes game of chicken, with our fleets passing, seeing who would blink first. I madethe first move, getting into attack position with Instigator, but Green countered and moved his squadrons to block all lines of escape. I decided to ConFire at the top of the next round, but a nav would have let me get away. Instigator did massive damage to Salvation, and then rammed, as I decided to sacrifice the raider to pin squads for a short time. Yavaris squads blew away the raider, but it bought me the time to move in my squads to the fight.

Salvation made a break for the wall, and turned to engage my fleet. I missed the kill at the end of the round, so Salvation survived for a whole other round (which ended up being fortuitous for me). It did damage to my Vic, and forced the brace burn, but then it was counter attacked by my whole fleet, leaving it overkilled by numerous crits, and giving me tons of tokens. I narrowly avoided ramming my Vic with Demolisher, but it was able to hop over the combat side. By this point Yavaris and Rieekan's flagship had nearly wiped my squads, but not before I continued to assault with my squads. However I had issues with Green's named squads staying alive for rounds longer than I wanted, and I really didn't get to use ship anti-squadron like I would have preferred. My flagship crossed the wall, and activated first to do some initial damage to Yavaris, and Demolisher moved in for the kill the next round. I was forced to move sub-obtimally due to Green's use of Adar on a H-6, and my overestimation of the movement of a speed 3 Glad (even with a nav). This landed Demo on an asteroid field, since I was adamant to get my shot on Yavaris. I did kill Yavaris, but the return fire and the flipping of the asteroid's structural damage took Demo down as well.

I killed Jan, Wedge, and an X-wing, but lost Bossk, Mauler, and an advanced. I killed both Nebs, but lost Demo and Instigator. 192 to 187, but the tokens moved it to the 402-217.

Very well played by Green Knight. He really forced hard (and sub-optimal) decisions on me. Rieekan gave him the boost he needed to keep my first player advantage from overwhelming him, but Precision Strike struck back!

I had a crash mid-game, so only part of a Vlog (as long as it saved right). I'll post it in the replay thread, but Biggs has the game recorded, so you cant watch it on his Twitch or YouTube!!!

Okay, Lyraeus (if he's reading this thread): now I've seen somebody farm a significant number of tokens off of a zombie, and you can say "I told you so."

Eh, I've had good games with my own PS objective. No real particular reason it shouldn't work for second player, really.

I think it's one of those ones you try to build specifically toward, so your opponent feels like he can't take it. The problem is, if he too has built toward his own PS (bomber heavy, MSU, etc), you don't get much extra out of it for being Player 2.

I feel like its the red version of fleet ambush. Turns on you too easily, too many commonly seen fleets that look at it an go "yippy skippy" when they see it. Going second sucks, thats why first player has to choose your objectives. That choice should suck for him. Would personally rather run Most Wanted or Advanced Gunnery in most of the fleets I would go with precision strike in.

In hindsight I think I should have kept Salvation heading towards your flagship and slowed down my AF to a more aggressive stance (and given me better squadron utility in late game). Maybe I could have killed Screed? As it was I did a little damage to 2 different ships, and not flipping any cards, while you got too many shots on dead Salvation. You'd still have won, but maybe a little less? We'll never know :-)

Other than that I was quite pleased with my performance.

Note to self: H-6 with Yavaris are great. Adar is great. Dutch/Wedge/Jan are great. BUT PRECISION STRIKE AND RIEEKAN DON'T MESH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
