Shoulder mounted rifle

Recommended Posts

I have a question about the mere-son hands free weapon system in dangerous covenant.

Is this classified as dual wielding. Wasn't sure because the text says allows the wearer to aim and fire without using his hands or arms.

The attachment merely gives the player the option to shoot via the shoulder mounted weapon instead of using a hand held weapon.

Besides the above, all of the normal combat rules apply.

Shooting the shoulder weapon by itself is not considered dual wielding. If the player wished to use the shoulder weapon plus a hand held weapon, then yes normal dual weapon rules applies.

Maybe one more dice for every additional weapon used? So a Xexto could use 4 blaster Pistols on short range with a Pool of 4 against his Agility/Ranged Light. It would be interesting to use two rifle sized weapons without the need for pistol grips but considering that Xexto are a rather fragile species it would look very funny in most cases.

A Xexto-Gunslinger would be an interesting option - Spitfire and Guns Blazing with 4 guns with paired upgrade... Let the bodies hit the floor...

There are none that have been officially published.

Myself and a few others have ruled it exactly how Komrk has described above. Although it's pretty discouraging. An idea I have been toying with is upgrading the difficulty beyond the initial increase. More chance for threat and despair versus more chance for failure. So a short range attack would result in RRP

Xexto get an extra Maneuver, that's how the Dev's have decided to deal with extra limbs. So the could Aim twice and get two advantage dice in on the deal. Activation of the extra guns should cost the same as normal.

Now, get your Xexto gunslinger shoulder mounts too and you could get even more guns blazing.

I’m going that direction with my Besalisk Hired Gun:Mercenary Soldier/Heavy.

Very much along the lines of the image at http://christopherburdett.blogspot.com/2015/07/armed-to-teeth-process-star-wars.html

At the start, my GM is allowing me to do TWC with a pair of blaster carbines, but I’ll need to increase my natural intelligence to 3, and then get a droid brain enhancement to take it to 4, before I can do FWC.

But I’m working on it.

I have a related question.  The attachment text specifically calls out that the hands are free to do something else.

What if the player is making a non-combat check?  Such as piloting a vehicle, slicing a computer, planting a bomb via Mechanics, using both hands to make an Athletics check for climbing, and so on.  In these scenarios does it effectively allow a second action (one non-combat, one attack with the attached weapon)?

I totally agree on the two weapon fighting rules for using it and another weapon simultaneously.  It's enough benefit that it effectively allows two heavy weapons to be used at once.

No, it doesn't grant any additional actions. It merely gives you another option for ranged combat. If the character were climbing, they could stop climbing, hold on with both hands, and fire on their turn with the shoulder-mounted weapon. Mechanically, that's no different than walking across the room with an armful of loot and doing the same thing.
