Newbie Question Tie Phantom

Recommended Posts

Hi,

very new to X-wing and enjoy the game greatly. I love using the Tie phantom beating up those rebel scrum and bandit holds - long live the Empire.

I have plucked up the courage to enter a local tourney in 2 months time - 100pts, this will be my first event. I wonder if you guys can help me putting together a list based around the tie Phantom for the tourney. Hopeful this should prvide me with some time to ptactice with.

many thks

long live the empire

It would be useful to know what other ships you have to fill out your squad and what cards you have available to build from...

Having said that, here's a few phantom builds that are effective:

Sigma w/ FCS, recon spec & stygium particle accelerator = 32

Sigma w/ sensor jammer, rebel captive & stygium particle accelerator = 34 (particularly good alongside carnor jax)

Echo w/ outmaneouvre, FCS, rebel captive & advanced cloaking device = 42

Echo w/ Veteran instincts, FCS, recon specialist & advanced cloaking device = 40

Whisper w/ veteran instincts, FCS, rebel captive & advanced cloaking device = 42

Whisper w/ veteran instincts, FCS, gunner & advanced cloaking device = 44

I flew a whisper with a mini swarm to great effectiveness.

3 Academy Tie

Howlrunner: Swarm Tactics

Whisper: Advance Cloaking, Agent Kallus, FCS, Veteran Instincts.

97 points for Initiative bid. But you could add Stealth Device on Howlrunner for 100 points.

Jousting your opponent with 4 Sigma Squadron Pilots (naked) can be, initially, terrifying. It will ultimately end in defeat, unless you manage to wreck house with Round 1 combat.

My personal favorite phantom lists use:

Whisper

Decoy

Fire Control System

Rebel Captive

Advanced Cloaking Device

Darth Vader

Veteran Instincts

Accuracy Corrector

and whatever else your heart desires...

Filling out this template allows Whisper to attack at PS11, provided he remains within Range 1-2 of Vader (which is a MUST). It also allows Vader to Focus + Evade every turn for purely defensive reasons, Accuracy Corrector on a 2 attack die ship = perfect attacks Ranges 2-3, and the whole purpose of Vader is to keep Whisper shooting FIRST.

A similar tactic can be implemented with the NEW TIE/FO Fighter: "Epsilon Ace" (While you do not have any Damage cards, treat your pilot skill value as "12."). I prefer comms relay + shield upgrade on "Epsilon Ace" but that's just my opinion.

This build sounds scary to fly. Vader is an elite Hunter. I use him purely for arc dodging and getting in close, then blowing up your opponent. Not to mention you do a "2" maneuver when decloaking, which could put you in scary situations if too close to Vader. Not saying it's bad at all. Just feel like it requires a LOT of piloting skill to play properly

My app is acting up right now and I can't get into it, but the Whisper build I have has a standard Vader Loadout, Whisper, and Omega Leader

Pretty much what I run, except I sub in Dark Curse for OL so I can put prockets on Vader.

I'm planning to run Whisper (VI, Sensor Jammer, ACD), standard 35pts Soontir and Doomshuttle tomorrow. My opponent will probably play Scum with 2 TLT Y-Wings and an IG-2000, so I prefer Sensor Jammer for the durability.

If someone has any tips for fighting this kind of list, I'd be grateful, as I have very little experience fighting TLTs.
