Idea For an Different Objective

Recommended Posts

An Idea for a Navigation objective: Holding Action.

Player 2 sets up all obstacles. If the space station is used it does not have the ability to repair damage.

Player 1 sets up all units first. The first player may set up from the middle of the playing area to his edge.

Player 2 then sets up all units in the normal set up area.

Goal is for 2nd players ships to get past first players. Any of player 2's ships that exit players 1's edge of the play area are removed from play, but not considered destroyed. Player 2 receives a victory token for each ship that exit in that way. First player receives a  token for each ship of player 2 that is destroyed.

Thinking this will work with higher point fleets as well as larger play areas. I'm going to try to use this over the weekend on my 4'x6' mat.

I would play lengthways down a 6x3 map.

At the moment it seems rather easy for player 2 to see the enemy positions then deploy where they are weakest, take 1-2 turns of long range ineffective fire and exit the board.

Having player 2 deploy first would be my suggestion if playing across the map.

Lengthwise is a good idea, thank you. This was an Idea I had the other day when I couldn't sleep and wanted to get it down before I forgot it. Does anyone else have ideas on alternate objectives?
