I think the default loadout is going to be something like this:

Contracted Scout (25)
Deadeye (1)
Extra Munitions (2)
Plasma Torpedoes (3)
Recon Specialist (3)
R4 Agromech (2)

Guidance Chips (0)

Total: 36

True, though RecSpec allows for more flexibility.  You'll always have a fully modified attack if you take a focus action, or have an extra focus for defense, or if you take Guidance Chips with it (I forgot that) you have a nearly guaranteed 4 hits from your Torpedoes.

I would like to see the mathwing on it though to see how much of a difference the extra focus makes.

On average, it generates an extra 0.75 damage on each Plasma Torpedoes shot. If pushing through a single big attack is what you're after, the likelihood of generating 4 successes on 4 dice with just TL is about 32%, and that goes up to 77% with both focus and TL.

[EDIT: That's WITHOUT considering Guidance Chips. I need better tools than the calculator on my phone to work that out, and I'm away from my desk at the moment--although the fact that GC will be wasted 77% of the time when Recon Specialist is around is suggestive.]

But if what you want is a way to modify any focus results left over after TL and Guidance Chips, upgrading from Plasma Torpedoes to Proton Torpedoes is cheaper than adding the Recon Specialist...

Definitely a good point on bumping from Plasma to Proton to accomplish the same goal.  That has me leaning towards:

Contracted Scout (25)

Deadeye (1)

Extra Munitions (2)

Proton Torpedoes (4)

Boba Fett (1)

R4 Agromech (2)

Inertial Dampeners (1)

Guidance Chips (0)

Black Sun Ace (23)

Attanni Mindlink (1)

Black Sun Ace (23)

Attanni Mindlink (1)

Kaa'To Leeachos (15)

Attanni Mindlink (1)

Total: 100

The BSA's and Kaa'To shoot before the U-Boat, which will allow them to either strip tokens or prevent opponents from burning their tokens early for fear of such a strong shot later on (especially with Boba there to strip a card too.)

Call it what you want. I'll choose to ignore any of the cute internet names people have for ships.

Yes, but you likely also address your wife as Mrs <insert last name>.   :P  Some find that cute names bring us all closer together.

I call my wife Mrs. Rick.

My five children I address by their first name, followed immediately by the phrase "son of Rick" or "daughter of Rick."

When I'm trying to get my all five of my kid's attention I loudly proclaim, "Hearken unto me, o sons and daughters of Rick."

It works; I'm the king of my domain, and I play with little plastic spaceships too.

if you were flying around under water wouldn't you face it so the tail was the front for less drag?  then it would be a n boat.

It'd be really unstable if the top of the U were facing forward.  One of the reasons why it's difficult (but not impossible) to have inverted wings on an aircraft.

All it does is create confusion for new players in an already advanced game with many rules and abilities to grasp. I am teaching several new players the game and I see it first hand.

Sharing fun nicknames with other players creates a sense of inclusion and belonging.

We typically refer to this as "a community."

Also, jargon gets used because it's an efficient way of communicating a complex concept. When I'm taking to other X-Wing nerds it's way, way easier to refer to a "Stresshog" than to "A Y-Wing with a turret upgrade typically but not always Twin Laser Turret, plus the BTL-A4 title and R3-A2 Astromech". Yes, of course that can have the effect of creating a barrier for new players trying to get into the game but in a very real sense that's kind of not my problem.

I'm not totally against it. The "community" takes it to far though. I don't mind names such as the stresshog because as you pointed out no one wants to name off the entire set up. But when players nickname TIE F/O's just because they cant remember who Omega leader and who is xxx Ace...that's kind of not my problem.

Not the best build I can foresee.. in my group we have a different load out that should blast this every time.

also, I'm not a fan of this "petitioned" nic-name. I understand where it comes from, but I've detested many of the used nics for some of these ships.. I'll not be using this one.. have fun with it
