Armada, X-wing, Imperial Assault colab game.

Recommended Posts

Has anyone attempted this by chance? If so let me know how you set it up and how long it took.

My idea for it would be basically start out with armada, have a defending fleet and an attacking fleet. Have some sort of space station/planet to defend. the attackers have shuttles to shuttle forces to the the station to take out or take over. If the shuttle gets engaged with a squadron, then the squadrons will battle it out in X-wing style. Once the Lamda makes it to the station, then imperial assault skirmish takes place. The game goes until one side of the armada battle is won. Of course it would be a 6 person game just to make it not last as long. But I feel like it would be a ton of fun to do and see how well it would work.

Hi Chrissr09; I don't know about quite that, BUT since the news about the upcoming Board Game I have been thinking that it could be perfect to use as the STRATEGIC "Big Board" for campaigns!  Then you could translate the space battles into Armada games, while also translating any planetary battles into games using Imperial Assault!  At least that's what I'VE been thinking about lately!  Steiner

This is the hard part. . . how does one translate points per side? What if the Rebel shuttle is only escorted by a single base of X-Wings, how do you equate in points or models what a full squadron is. What about the 3 bases of TIE Fighters, 2 bases of TIE Interceptors, and the like that engage?

Hi Lyraeus!  It sounds like you already know something about the board game that I have no clue about - yet.  All I've seen is the list of contents and the picture.  Please don't burst my bubble to badly before it even leaves the soap bottle!   I've done a good bit of doing up ways for campaigns to work in similar situations for other systems, so I'd like to think that there's always hope.

If you do know more about how the game is set up to work, could you please tell me where I could learn more for myself?

Thanks - Steiner

They are running a new preview of the game every day this week. They are up on the front page of the web site.

There is also a forum in the board games section devoted to the game with people discussing what we know so far.

I am working on a campaign for my game group that uses all three games, combined with a system for gaining campaign momentum used to initiate missions and a initiative system that decides who has the right to choose the next mission.  But I have no experience in combining into a collab game ..   But.. I have seen people running a Battle of Endor Armada game deciding if the fighters can get close enough.. And there is this big mission depicting the attack on the second  death star itself https://tools.fantasyflightgames.com/xwing/home/4139/  .. Then you can add a IA mission where Han and friends try to blow up the shield generator..
