Who wants to play with Bossk?

This Bossk needs 49 points of company! His build is:

 

Bossk [35]: VI [1], Mangler [4], Outlaw Tech [2], K4-Security [3], Tactician [2], EU[4]

 

I want him hanging back with his escort taking on the enemy up close, so I can get as many uses of my Mangler as possible. Mangler is the only option left for reliable crits, even though it is not my favourite.

 

Now who to put him with? My first idea was making an IG-666 build (the shoebox and the crab?), but that one has issues, mostly that there isn't enough space for Glitterstim. Regardless, B is always strong, so this is a consideration:

Adding IG-88 B [36]: Crackshot [1], FCS [2], HLC [7], Inertial Dampeners [1], Autothrusters [2]

 

The two of them fit together rather well, IG-88 brings resistance against TLT-spam and is generaly good, although outmanouvered by higher PS aces, while Bossk has PS and is harder to avoid with his giant arc. Problem is that a lot of aces like to have PS10 nowadays - those aren't as manouverable, but it is still harder to catch them in Bossks Tactician-zone. A way to bring in PS10 and some more controll would be Boba:

Bossk gets an Intertial Dampener and we add Boba [39]: VI [1], Tactician [2], Glitterstim [2], EU [4]

 

Boba gives us higher PS, but he is on a worse ship. Stronger against ace-lists, weaker against TLT spam. I am not too sure about this one. He looks strong, but I have seen him crash so quickly in the past. Glitterstim and EU can fix that, but still. Does someone want to convince me?

Last option would be 4 Pirates, but I really don't like them and they don't add much balance to the list. Any other ideas?

Boba and IG-88B are both solid choices to fly with Bossk, don't think either is a wrong choice.

 

One change I would make would be to drop the Mangler Cannon in favor of more upgrades on B or Boba.  Of the three, Bossk is the easiest to focus fire down and with just two ships there's a reasonable chance of players bee-lining for him.

 

And, unless you can get them chasing his squad-mate, you'll get very little usage out of that Mangler.

 

 

Otherwise, very solid.  And hey, your mileage may vary with that Mangler and it'll just help Bossk have a cheap HLC.

Since Bossk can't fire the Mangler Cannon outside his primary weapon arc I favour the Calculation EPT. Depends if PS 9 is pivotal to your strategy I suppose. But at least that way you get more points to spend on his escort!

If you go with VI Boba then I'd definitely say switch Bossk VI to Calculation per Waldorf's suggestion.
