212th Clone Trooper 1 Posted January 3, 2016 Hi all. Great too be here. I am a new player and I have bought the Force Awakens Version of the Core Set and it is being shipped too my house. I have yet too play outside of a demo game in 2014 and I have watched some 'How-Too-Play' videos. I am going to be focusing mainly on the First Order/Empire as I think their ships look cooler, and maybe Resistance. So here is my Squadron build for the First Order please tell me how to improve: FIRST ORDER OMEGA SQUADRON 100 points PILOTS “Omega Leader” (26)TIE/fo Fighter (21), Comm Relay (3), Juke (2) Omega Squadron Pilot (20)TIE/fo Fighter (17), Weapons Guidance (2), Cool Hand (1) Tempest Squadron Pilot (22)TIE Advanced (21), TIE/x1 (0), Advanced Targeting Computer (5) Omicron Group Pilot (32)Lambda-Class Shuttle (21), Sensor Jammer (4), Intelligence Agent (1), Darth Vader (3), ST-321 (3) Thanks
212th Clone Trooper 1 Posted January 4, 2016 Can anyone help? As a new member this had to be approved first so it isn't on the first page so most people wouldn't have seen it.
blade_mercurial 2,091 Posted January 5, 2016 (edited) Welcome to x-wing! First of all, you should check out this thread: https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/131310-new-player-quick-start-list-guide/ Now, as to your list, the biggest problem is that you just don't have a great deal of firepower, considering there are 4 ships. Since you only have the starter set, I assume you will be looking at getting more ships. For that reason, I will suggest a simple list. When you are starting out, its not easy to remember all of your cards and if you have too much to keep track of, stuff gets forgotten. I don't recommend flying the shuttle when you are learning the game, although you have the right idea sticking Vader crew on it. What's nice about a 'doom shuttle' (omicron pilot w/ Vader) is that it costs 24 points--the same cost as a pair of academy pilots, so the two are interchangeable. You mention that you like First Order, so perhaps you are not as interested in the older TIEs, but if you are, I would recommend getting the original core set too. It will give you extra dice and the ships/cards cannot be found elsewhere. Not to mention, the TIE/ln is pretty useful to have for filling out certain kinds of lists. So here is my list starting list suggestion: Omega Leader w/ juke & comm relay = 26 (since you seem to like this guy and he's pretty good) Omicron w/ Vader = 24 (you can trade him out for a pair of academy pilots if you get the original core set---this will make the list easier to fly) 3 zeta squadron pilots = 16 x 3 98 For the last two points, you could put a weapon guidance on one of the Zetas, or an intel agent on the Shuttle if you do use it (and stick with a 1 pt initiative bid for those times you face equal Pilot Skill opponents). This list gives you 5 ships (or 6 ships if you go with the academy pilots in place of the shuttle) compared to the 4 in your list (meaning that it has more durability and firepower, and you don't really lose any significant Pilot Skill). Hope that helps! Edited January 5, 2016 by blade_mercurial 2 Comradebot and mitrandil reacted to this

212th Clone Trooper 1 Posted January 6, 2016 So I've been building more fleets and there are two potentials I'm looking at: First Order 1 100 points PILOTS “Omega Leader” (30)TIE/fo Fighter (21), Comm Relay (3), Juke (2), Shield Upgrade (4) “Zeta Ace” (25)TIE/fo Fighter (18), Weapons Guidance (2), Wired (1), Shield Upgrade (4) Bounty Hunter (45)Firespray-31 (33), Homing Missiles (5), Seismic Charges (2), Mercenary Copilot (2), Stealth Device (3) or this one FIRST ORDER 2 99 points PILOTS Gozanti-class Cruiser (51)Gozanti-Class Cruiser (40), Agent Kallus (2), Intelligence Agent (1), Docking Clamps (0), Cluster Bombs (4), Requiem (4) Zeta Squadron Pilot (16) x 3 With one point left over for initiative bids. Thoughts? I have decided I really want too do one of these, so which too go for?
blade_mercurial 2,091 Posted January 6, 2016 You can't use the Gozanti in 100 point games. Its for epic only (200+ points). Well, that's at competitive events. If you are playing with friends, you can do whatever you like (as long as they are cool with it!) Your bounty hunter is way overloaded. Give him just gunner, or recon specialist, or rebel captive and that's it. Maybe a seismic or ion bomb if you have points left over. You want more ships. Only reach for shield upgrades when you have points left over and you can't get another ship. In that above list, you could easily pair down stuff to fit in another TIE/fo... Krynn007 2,445 Posted January 6, 2016 (edited) Vader shuttle is awesome, but it normally dies fast. Don't investment too many pts in it Just something to keep in mind for future games Only use Vader ability when target has no shields (as shields come off first) and or has 1 hit left Edited January 6, 2016 by Krynn007
