A Nerf to TLT Stress Bot?

Recommended Posts

With the new FAQ released today, there was a nerf to the TLT Stress Bot Y Wing Build.  Here is what I mean:

Twin Laser Turret: Attack: Perform this attack twice (even against a ship outside your firing arc). Each time this attack hits, the defender suffers 1 damage. Then cancel all dice results. Attack: 3. Range: 2-3

and on the FAQ:

Twin Laser Turret is treated as two separate attacks against the same target. During the second attack, the “Declare Defender and Weapon” step is skipped.

R3-A2

When you declare the target of your attack, if the defender is inside your firing arc, you may receive 1 stress token to cause the defender to receive 1 stress token.

Latts Razzi (on the new FAQ)

Latts Razzi’s ability is used when a ship is declared as the target of an attack.
Therefore, when used with an ability that performs multiple attacks against the same target such as Cluster Missiles or Twin Laser Turret, Latts Razzi’s ability can only be used during the first attack and only applies to the first attack.

Does this now mean that TLT-Stress Bot build no longer gives out 3 stress and is now back to two?  Granted R3-A2 was out before the new system of declaring an attack and target, but since you only declare an attack target once with the TLT, well, R3-A2 should still only do 2 stress and not 3........

A TLT double shot with R3-A2 will give out 1 stress. (there is only one declare target)

A TLT and BTL-4 shot with R3-A2 will give out 2 stress. (there are two declare target steps in this chain)

And to complete the list:

A TLT with Tactician will give out 2 stress (on a K-Wing, or HWK for instance)

Should the Y-Wing ever get a modification for a crewmember (like the B-Wing/e2 mod) you could get the R3-A2/TLT/Tactician/BTL-A4 unholy mass of terror for 5 stress. Pray that we don't.

Actually, TLT and Stress Bot give three stress tokens.

The first step to each attack is declaring a target.

1. Primary weapon attack. Declare -- Stress defender. Stress yourself.

Trigger BLT-A4

2. First TLT attack. Declare -- Stress defender. Stress yourself.

3. Second TLT attack. Declare -- Stress defender. Stress yourself.

Page 4 of the Rules Reference breaks down the steps of an ATTACK. You always declare on every attack.

No, it doesn't as has been covered several times in this thread and is covered in the FAQ. It's the entire point of this thread and in the first post. The second attack from a TLT skips the declare target step, so a BTL-A4 Y-wing with R3-A2 and TLT can inflict up to 2 stress tokens on its target; First for declaring the target of its primary weapon attack, second for declaring the target of both of its TLT attacks on the TLTs first shot.

Otacon is quite correct. The FAQ says:

Twin Laser Turret

Twin Laser Turret is treated as two separate attacks against the same target. During the second attack, the “Declare Defender and Weapon” step is skipped.

Please don't confuse people

It has already been stated how it works

Tlt and r3a2 hand out 1 stress only.

R3a2 hands out a stress when you declare a target

Tlt you only declare the target once, and attack it twice

You cannot declare ship A a target, shoot at it. Then declare ship B a target for the second attack.

Once you declare a ship a target with tlt that's it. Both attacks have to shoot at it now

And if anyone new reads that post please ignore it. That is not how it works

So we have 3 choices

No, we don't.

The 1 stress is based on R3-A2 and TLT. This is correct. With TLT you only declare once, and the droid triggers on declaration.

The 2 stress is based on R3-A2, TLT and BTL-A4. This is correct. You declare twice, once for primary, once for the TLT.

The 3 stress is wrong.
