WeepingAngel2 11 Posted December 21, 2015 "Youngster"'s Pilot Ability: Friendly TIE fighters at Range 1-3 may perform the action on your equipped <Elite Pilot Talent icon> Upgrade card. Since it does specify "action" and not "ability", does that mean that the only EPT's this would apply to are: Daredevil Expert Handling Expose Marksmanship Squad Leader -- To say this another way: Can you equip "Youngster" with Crack Shot and have all of your other TIE Fighter squaddies use the Crack Shot ability every turn without discarding the Crack Shot card because they don't have a Crack Shot card of their own to discard? (I'm assuming the answer here is no.)
Firespray-32 5,424 Posted December 21, 2015 (edited) Got to be an action card. Infinite Crackshot is Tomax Bren's trick. Expose sucks a lot less hard when it costs you 4 points for the entire squad and there are simply too many TIEs to hammer all of them for using it though. Youngster is downright cruel in Epic. Forgottenlore 9,838 Posted December 21, 2015 Correct. And my compliments on remembering all 5. When his ability was first revealed most people seemed to always manage to forget one of them. 1 Parravon reacted to this
Papamambo 339 Posted December 30, 2015 (edited) So, I'm right in assuming that Youngster's ability doesn't work for 'one-offs' that require you to discard a card. How about cards like Predator or Veteran Instincts ? Edited December 30, 2015 by Papamambo

How about cards like Predator or Veteran Instincts ? Youngster only cares about the five that have "Action" at the top. Neither Predator nor VI do. 1 Dagonet reacted to this

Parravon 5,217 Posted December 30, 2015 I can't see squad leader being a lot of use That could get interesting. Squad Leader is unique, but suddenly you've got a squad FULL of Squad Leaders. FREE ACTIONS FOR EVERYONE!! 1 Funkleton reacted to this

Forgottenlore 9,838 Posted December 31, 2015 The even better question; does Youngster work with F/O Ties So far, the only evidence we have would suggest "yes" but there is plenty of room for the point to be argued or decided the other way by FFG. ZealuxMyr 1,944 Posted December 31, 2015 The even better question; does Youngster work with F/O Ties So far, the only evidence we have would suggest "yes" but there is plenty of room for the point to be argued or decided the other way by FFG. Ultimately waiting on FFG for a FAQ ruling to decide this. However I did find it interesting that "Youngster"'s pilot card says "TIE fighters" as opposed to "TIE Fighters." I'm not saying this will have any degree of significance as to which ships "Youngster" affects, just pointing out something that I noticed that cannot be unseen. (Like the change in asteroid placement on the Obsidian Squadron Pilots' card art). For the sake of semantics: of the phrase "TIE fighters" the focus, and only proper noun, is "TIE." As "fighters" is lowercase it goes from being a proper noun, the name of a type of ship, to a common noun and thus a thing lacking uniqueness. Therefore one could, potentially, argue that as long as "TIE" is fulfilled in the ship type category "Youngster"'s ability triggers as "fighters" now only refers to a thing capable of entering into a violent confrontation with an adversary.
