eltom13 34 Posted November 27, 2015 I have a question concerning the Psychic Power "Dominate": Does the psyker using it have to say the command aloud? One of the psykers in my group is constantly using it in a subtle way without uttering words, so that the target does not know where the command comes from, which makes the power even more scary. In my opinion this makes the power too strong. What do you think?
jack_px 19 Posted November 27, 2015 I think it is a splendid use of the power, his enemies will feel something strange it their head but, unless there is someone very perceptive(someone with the psinicience skill), they should not know where the power is comming from. Psykers are scary, but,i have seen psyker thst just die in a second because of a peril of the warp. 2 eltom13 and Talon of Anathrax reacted to this
eltom13 34 Posted November 28, 2015 Thanks for the reply. So you agree that the command has not to be uttered aloud. I confess that since the power is listed under telepathy it makes sense that the command only appears in the mind of the enemy. But from the description of the power it was not clear to me and from the black library literature, e.g. Eisenhorn trilogy, it seemed to me that the command had to be spoken out. Which brings me to a somewhat related question: The Jedi mind trick from Star Wars: "Those are not the druids you are looking for ...". How would you implement such a thing in DH2? It seems to me it is some kind of mixture between Dominate and Erasure, too strong for a minor psychic power so definitely in the telepathy tree. But where would you put it, which prerequisites, how much xp? Or maybe a psyker with Dominate + Erasure could automatically evoke this effect? Any thoughts? In DH1 there was Suggestion that was basically the mind trick. DH2 it's probably gonna have to be dominate. 1 eltom13 reacted to this
Skarsnik38 100 Posted November 29, 2015 I would also agree Dominate probably shouldn't require a spoken command. For jedi mind trick the minor power Suggestion in Enemies Within is what you are looking for. 1 eltom13 reacted to this

I would also agree Dominate probably shouldn't require a spoken command. For jedi mind trick the minor power Suggestion in Enemies Within is what you are looking for. Thanks to both of you for the hint. I don't have access to the DH1 core rule book but actually own Enemies Within. Suggestion somehow escaped my notice so far. Exactly what I was looking for.
