player1130419 25 Posted November 19, 2015 Seeing as 400pts is becoming the new go to for game size, I was wondering what size people have tried? How long before we see games of 1,000pts being played? Essentially I am wondering how well the game scales up. seeing as I tend to buy 2 of all the Imperial ships I think it is safe to say I will amass a sizeable fleet, which understandable I'll be wanting to use. Green Knight 9,732 Posted November 19, 2015 I've tried 600 pts, Reb vs Imp, 3 hour limit. It was fun, but exhausting.
BiggsIRL 6,717 Posted November 20, 2015 I've played a 900 vs 900. 3 Rebel players vs 2 Imperial Players. With custom objectives. Never again. 1 Green Knight reacted to this
Lord Tareq 704 Posted November 20, 2015 I haven't played any, but I think for games >700 points you need to streamline some rules, especially for the squadrons.
Vykes 1,927 Posted November 20, 2015 I played 750 pts with 20+ squadrons a side using Contested Outpost, it didn't require anything special and didn't take significantly longer than a regular game (maybe 2.5 hours). Squadron commands were just as important as ever, base rules worked fine, they had a few really upgraded ships, I didn't, etc. It worked fine. Now I'm just waiting for my preorders to come in so I can hit up a 1K match, though I might see if I can get a 2 vs. 2 1K match going some time. Basically, I don't think it requires much in the way of special consideration... though word to the wise, if you're planning on taking more than a dozen squadrons, throwing them all in at once is asking for a prowling Raider or something smearing them across the pavement (15 wounds in 1 turn was a wake up). SomeKittens 439 Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) I've played a 2v2 with 1600 points on the table (each player had 400 points). We expanded the setup area to the ends of the table (made for a rough ride for my "flanking" CR90s with no table left). Great fun, took forever. Every turn (save #1) involved a great deal of tension and the fate of the game wasn't set until the very end. Some memorable moments: - Wolfpack of four(!) CR90s attempting to flank and realizing it was the edge of the table or going toe-to-toe with an ISD. Admiral Ackbar: At that close range we won't last long against those Star Destroyers! Lando Calrissian: We'll last longer than we will against that Death Star Table Edge! And we might just take a few of them with us! - A VSD who'd strayed too far from the Imperial battle line getting vaporized in one turn. - Rhymer ball of villains getting the better of an MC80 One rule we did add - if a player lost all their ships their fighters stayed on the table. Had we dropped that the tide would have turned in favor of the Rebels much earlier. Edited November 30, 2015 by SomeKittens
Quadro28 173 Posted November 29, 2015 A friend and I have tried 700 points right when wave one released. The game took about 4 hours, but we were also very new to the game. In a couple of weekends from now we'll be playing a 1500+ point per side game. We made a couple adjustments to the rules to streamline the game, so I think it'll scale up fine. I'll try to take some cool pics and post them around here.
