Dark Pursuit/Forgotten Gods link (spoilers)

Recommended Posts

I have a follow-up question. In Forgotten Gods it is said that "[The Children of the Inheritance] is the same cult that employed the service of the arch-heretek Somnius Halbrel in the events of Dark Pursuits." and "Halbrel has concluded his business with the cult (which takes place in Dark Pursuits, ...". In Dark Pursuits Halbrel awaits a shipment including a daemonhost, presumably from the Inheritors. But what exactly is the service that Halbrel provided for the cult in Dark Pursuits? I somehow seem to miss something ...

Okay, I already read parts of Forgotten Gods and am aware of that. But that would mean, that the daemonhost was made by the Inheritors as payment for the Blood of Izumat. So the Blood was already finished before Dark Pursuits starts. If the Inheritors already have the Blood then way bother to collect more artifacts? And way, for Emperor's sake, do the Inheritors bind and sell away just the entity they want to conjure on Thaur in the end? I don't get it.

Haha that just occurred to me as I was reading your post too. Maybe it would make more sense to make the daemonhost a different daemon than the one they are trying to summon for the story to have some plausability.

He taught them how to make the Blood of Izumat.  They needed more of it to do what they wanted (it was basically a solution of Warp-Tainted artifact powder in some kind of icky purple ooze).  They continue to make it and acquire more artifacts to make it with until Forgotten Gods, which is when they finally have enough to do the ritual.

Also, the Inheritors don't know that Daemonhost is what they're summoning when calling on Izumat; they think Izumat is their deity, not some Daemon they could summon and bind.

I see. Thank you, it starts to make some sense now.
