Crit Happens

For those not attending Worlds...

Recommended Posts

If you could go, what would you fly?

For myself, it would be this:

OGP + palpatine

Echo with LW/ACD/Rec Spec/Sensor Jammer

Sigma Squadron pilot with SPA/Intel Agent

I have more fun with this list than anything else. It has its weaknesses (high PS anyone?), but it suits my play style well, and it has the ability to overcome a PS disadvantage with some fancy flying.

What would you fly?

Corran Horn

R2-D2

Sensor Jammer

Push the Limit

Ion Warthog with R3-A2

Ion Warthog

Connor Net

Extra Munitions

The mechanics of ion warthogs against TLT's make it pretty easy for them to shut down 1-2 opposing TLT or 1 ace. And Corran at 46 points gets you a full win against quite a few aces.

I would fly:

Black Sun soldier + Dead Man's switch x6

And a few missles.

I call it the Walking Dead. I flew this last weekend in a tournament and had a blast. Having a ship that deals damage when it explodes really makes you more aggressive. In my last game a ship blew that triggered a chain reaction that took out 90% of the board.

bombers

literally no one would be expecting bombers

edit:

and it's actually a little strange

I had my doubts as well, until I saw Chadwick's list in the "alpha strike meta" thread that had four Scimitars with homing missiles + seismics + extra munitions going at it

I brought 3 of them + Omega ace against boba-bro, and then Deathrain + 2 bombers + academy against bros

they're freaking lovely (except that, for some reason, they're just as cursed against naked green dice as everything else...go figure. Then again, everything else doesn't have seismic charges :))

when the dice aren't being utter bull, they down Aggressors with surprising ease

4x Alpha Sq. Pilot

Omicron Group Pilot (Advanced Sensors, Fleet Officer, Intelligence Agent)

That's a respectable amount of attack dice hiding behind 3 agility. Alpha Squadron Pilots are great because they can boost or barrel roll, and Intelligence Agent knows if such a move would be advantageous. Intelligence Agent was thrown on as an after thought originally, but I have found it to be an integral part of my strategy against high PS aces. Oh, and Advanced Sensors + Fleet Officer is pretty self-explanitory. I thought it was a gimmick at first, but after flying it a few times I realized just how tactically deep this combo can be. I really feel that this squad has the potential to give just about any other squad a run for its money.

I'd bring my current Defender list:

Rexler Brath, HLC, Predator, Hull Upgrade = 50

Colonel Vessery, HLC, Lone Wolf, Hull Upgrade, Ion Pulse Missile = 50

Because, like that punk looking down the barrel of Harry Callaghan's .44 Magnum, "I gots to know" (how I could do with Defenders against the best, not so much how many shots were fired).

I'd take my Palp list:

OGP+Palp

Soontir/RGP/TC/AT/PTL

Vader/Lone Wolf/ATC/X-1/EU

Played it quite a bit recently, won a store tournament with it, etc.  99 points for those initiative bid, but not super critical that I have it as I can bring in vader from outside range 2 to help nearby.

Starvipers. Generic starvipers. Those things are insanely good when you pair them with a ship that generates way more threat. Basically fast, defensive B-wings with the best dial in the game.

I like starvipers too, but they do not have the best dial in the game. They have a b-wing dial with less red. It's fine, but nowhere close to the best. The aggressor has almost the same dial but with way more green and an actual K-turn.

If I were to go to Worlds, I know that I wouldn't do all that well but it would be a blast to fly some of the best pilots around.

I'd definitely bring my Steele Curtain list:

TIE Advanced: · Lieutenant Colzet (23)

TIE/x1 (0)

Fire Control System (0)

TIE Advanced: · Maarek Stele (27)

Predator (3)

Adv. Homing Missiles (3)

TIE/x1 (0)

Advanced Targeting Computer (1)

TIE Defender: · Colonel Vessery (35)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

-- TOTAL ------- 100/100p. --

Win or lose, I know I'd have fun.

It used to be worse -- I had Predator on one, LW on the other; Glitterstim on one; Inertial Dampeners on the other -- and it took me a while to get used to it.  But this configuration -- probably the fifth in the series -- is by far the strongest Brobots I've tried.

And it has a very subtle advantage when you consider the new MoV rule.

Have you tried crack shot instead on the BSPs?

It's as fast as a tie fighter but can slow roll like a b-wing, and gets actions everytime. The s-loops are a lot harder to block on the viper than the aggressor, and a signed viper can block a large base for several turns. I have kept a decimator from using Isanne for a whole 75 minute match with just 2 of them.

I think Calculation gives you better damage potential throughout the match.
