Crabbok 9,869 Posted November 2, 2015 I don't care if it's blasphemy - I like Star TREK also! Alot! http://www.startrek.com/article/new-star-trek-series-premieres-january-2017 Set to premiere in January of 2017, it'll be on CBS. Boy I hope it's good! They don't say what timeline or time period it will be in - but I really hope it's in the prime time line, in a POST-Voyager universe. 3 Jyico, Robin Graves and Cununculus reacted to this

Toqtamish 3,643 Posted November 2, 2015 I suspect it will be a spin off from the movies but we shall see. Article does say "The new television series is not related to the upcoming feature film Star Trek Beyond which is scheduled to be distributed by Paramount Pictures in summer 2016." So it might be based on the other TV shows instead.

TasteTheRainbow 8,726 Posted November 2, 2015 On CBS streaming which nobody is using. Will I pay like $5.99/month just for one show? Probably not. 2 WGNF911 and VanorDM reacted to this
Vigil 687 Posted November 2, 2015 On CBS streaming which nobody is using. Will I pay like $5.99/month just for one show? Probably not. Wait until the whole season is out. Then pay $5.99 and binge watch it. Then cancel your subscription before the month is up. 3 DanDoulogos, Crabbok and TasteTheRainbow reacted to this
Dagonet 7,246 Posted November 2, 2015 On CBS streaming which nobody is using. Will I pay like $5.99/month just for one show? Probably not. “This new series will premiere to the national CBS audience, then boldly go where no first-run Star Trekseries has gone before – directly to its millions of fans through CBS All Access,” So you can just watch it on regular television. I'll probably catch it on the BBC or Netflix.
VanorDM 11,599 Posted November 2, 2015 So you can just watch it on regular television. According to the article I read, it won't be on regular TV, just on the CBS streaming. That means BBC or Netflix will not be getting it. The only episode you'll see on normal TV is the pilot. This is clearly CBS' way of trying to get more people to buy into their streaming service. VanorDM 11,599 Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) Of course BBC or Netflix will get it, CBS all access isn't available here in Europe It's rather pointless to release it to Netflix when the whole point is to get people to subscribe to their streaming service. I don't know if BBC will get it or not, but the article is quite clear it won't be on normal broadcast TV. If Europe can't get it, that doesn't mean they have to put it on the BBC. I mean who's going to pay $6/month for CBS when you can get Netflix for a buck or two more. So no I'm betting they won't release it anywhere else. Crabbok 9,869 Posted November 2, 2015 They released this article over a year early. No doubt they are getting a ton of feedback right now, and I'd bet they make an adjustment to their plan before it launches. 2 Vigil and Parravon reacted to this

RogueCorona 1,043 Posted November 3, 2015 Interesting. I just hope it avoids the first couple of seasons aren't that good curse that TNG and post TNG Star Trek shows suffer from. Or at least that people are willing to give it time to mature to its good stage unlike Enterprise.

You do know that Netflix has different content in different countries? They distribute more shows that aren't on the US Netflix. Fargo for instance. It doesn't bode well for Trek fans in New Zealand then, does it? We have a hard enough time getting any science-fiction on TV sometimes. It seems programmers in New Zealand consider Doctor Who to be the only thing worth broadcasting on free-to-air TV. Anything else is on subscriber service only, and even then it's not a lot. Parravon 5,217 Posted November 4, 2015 It seems programmers in New Zealand consider Doctor Who to be the only thing worth broadcasting on free-to-air TV. Well there is some truth to that. Yeah, but at the expense of everything else? I don't even like Dr Who! Someone posted a video clip from a show called "Space - Above and Beyond". I think we got maybe some of the first series here, then it just vanished from the air to be replaced by some reality TV show, or a cooking show, or a house renovation show. Which seems to be the majority of TV in NZ these days. I'm just waiting for some clown to come up with a show where they renovate a kitchen then cook a 5 course meal to win a prize. NZ programmers would find that combo to be TV gold.
Dagonet 7,246 Posted November 4, 2015 Well, to be fair, space above and beyond never made it past the first season, losing in sweeps against JAG. Unfortunately. 1 Robin Graves reacted to this
Parravon 5,217 Posted November 4, 2015 See, we didn't even get to the end of that then. I did like watching JAG, though. That was a great show. I think when that finished here, it was replaced with a home renovation show as well.
