Grenade rarity

Recommended Posts

If a guardsman were to want to requisition grenades, as per the core book, they make a check vs. the rarity and they get x amount. But if they have a grenade launcher, and want a drum of six grenades, the rarity is exactly the same?

So yes, as launcher uses standart grenades, it's the same rarity. You need to roll it six times and get six grenades.

At that point you're better off rolling for another grenade launcher and taking your 'extra ammo' as whatever you wanted to begin with.

Hm. Thing is grenades are items in their own right, so I'm not sure I'd allow it as a master.

Also I believe grenades are exactly kind of item that is a part of the standard kit for any regiment engaged within the warzone (vast majority of imperial regiments use grenades), so I'd give requesition grenades +20 bonus. Also if your regiment have grenades on standard kit, there is a rule: "Ultimately, the standard kit should be viewed as a resource rather than a liability. Any time that a soldier is able to access a fortified military encampment, that character can fully resupply his kit from the regiment’s stores. Of course, this is subject to Game Master discretion. If a character goes through three lasguns a day for several days, there are likely to be some inquiries from his commanding officer, the base quartermaster, and the local Tech-Priests. While a reasonable explanation might resolve the issue, the consequences could be severe if one is unavailable." I believe an explanation "sir, I throw that grenades into orks, sir, and they exploded, sir!" is reasonable enough.

If someone has a grenade launcher as part of their kit (due to it being their regimental favored weapon), they still get ammo with it, however. Requisitioning a new grenade launcher I presume has the same benefit. The system only gets weird when you have an extant grenade launcher and want more ammo for it, above and beyond the normal supply.

Does he? I believed that he have "grenade launcher and six grenades" in regimental kit. Two things.

Because grenades are not just ammo to GL.

Any weapon you get as part of your specialty gear comes with three full mags/clips/packs/drums or whatever. And when you requisition a new weapon, it comes with one plus one for each extra DOS on the Logistics test.

The way we run it is that the Grenade Launcher only ever comes with frag grenades as extra ammo for DoS. if you want anything more specialised, you have to requisition it. Same goes for Missile Launchers.

Seems like a sensible choice.

The rule is that whatever is a part of the Standard Kit normally (i.e. unless supply chain is cut or overloaded) should be replenished automatically (after basic report unless there was a mission debriefing anyway), but any extras need to be requisitioned.

This doesn't say anything about Specialist equipment.

"Regimental Favored" in itself only adds a weapon to the list of options for relevant specialists (normally Weapon Specialist and Heavy Gunner) and gives +10 bonus to Logistics for those weapons and ammunition for them. The interesting part is that it doesn't say "default ammunition" - thus e.g. a krak grenade is Rare, but if grenade launcher is a Favoured weapon… ditto for Inferno Shells and bolters/shotguns.

Standard extras don't have a bonus, but perhaps should not, since there's not only greater supply, but greater demand.

But there's also specialist equipment that overlaps with Standard kit. I doubt they issue two lasguns, but some ammunition and grenades can be listed in lesser or greater quantity.
