Can allies be healed?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have a doubt regarding the allies (like Serena in LOR): I know that they can't be revived or search, but can they be healed by the heroes or use the healing potion?

Thanks for any response!

Hmm, I second the question.  From the LoR rules...

Allies can suffer damage and be affected by conditions. When an ally is
defeated, remove the ally token from the map. A defeated ally is essentially
out of the game for the remainder of the encounter. Allies recover all
damage at the end of an encounter.

It doesn't say that an ally cannot be healed.  The latest FAQ doesn't mention anything specific about that, however it does say that an ally can gain and use elixir tokens..  So, I too, am curious.

Ally counts as hero for OL cards, and hero/monster abilities, so it can benefit from healing via skills and potions.

EDIT: LoR rulebook page 6. I have no english version to quote, sadly

Also Elixir tokens from the Apothecary can be used, while the ally is still conscious...

Even familiars can use them, even stones...

Familiar figures can totally use them, but the stones thing might have been reversed, I thought I saw that somewhere (but I might also be imagining that, let me check.)

EDIT: Found it.

The last FAQ update did add a bit about familiars getting elixir tokens, but since then Kara has clarified in a rules response (linked above) that summoned stones are not included in that, as they are not figures, and thus don't get "treated as heroes."

Correct, iirc, familiars that are treated as heroes benefit from ally skills (healing) and search cards (potions). The stone's card doesn't have the 'treat as a hero' language.

but but but...

you can totally pour the elixir over the stones!!

:o

ETA:

interesting; Does it mean that you can't use a webtrap on the stone then, since it's not an attack?

Yes! The whole "familiars treated as figures are considered heroes for X, Y, and Z..." does not apply to stones because they are not figures. Anytime a rule says "hero," it NEVER includes stones. The exception to this is within the context of an attack, which stones are explicitly subject to.

So, the statement on the summoned stone card is really the best descriptor- it is an obstacle, but it can be targeted and affected by attacks, even by heroes. This includes surge abilities.
