I came 5th out of 6, which I'm happy with considering I've only had two games before (and none using objectives, or full 300pts). The onl guy who did worse than me had played even less, mind you! Still got a Raider, and the alt-art cards are lovely (especially the TIEs).

Yeah, I too was impressed with the size of the ISD and disappointed with Home One.

We also only played two round - it takes soooo long!

Had a tournament today in London. I didn't place in the top, but got beaten by the two guys who made it to the final. We all stayed to watch the final as we finished our rounds in 90 mins per game.

The ISD is huge!!! However, it was decidedly underwhelming in firepower compared to the MC80 with Ackbar. That thing was chucking out BUCKETS of dice, what a ship. Glad they only made it speed 2 and it can't take gunnery teams. MVP in the final round.

I think Drunk Tarkin from the IFF podcast will be eating his words, like with the Assault Frigate!!

Guh, we had 8 on our Friday match and I scored 7th.

We did two rounds, and I made stupid moves in both my games. The first one was leading too far with my Gladiator to let it get shot up by the enemy, and in the second I didn't focus on sinking a Tarkin-holding Victory, hoping to split my fire and kill both ships with my remaining victory and squadrons. Gah!

On a less bitter note, I think out of 8 of us, only three players I observed used fighters in significant force (I was one of them), and two players used two ships with upgrades (again, was one of them). Neither of the leading players I think used a significant force of fighters, I think it was a 2 Glad + VSD list vs 3 Assault Frigates.

So, now I'm wondering if my next attempt on Monday should ditch all fighters and go with as much on my capital ships as possible. Some successful lists out there had only four TIEs to tie up the bombers!

I posted elsewhere, that it was uncertain if we would have a Sullust event today at my FLG. We only had 3 players, so the store owners mad up the numbers to 4 and it was game on!

My list:

AFII B Garm, advanced projectors

AFII B advanced projectors

Neb B escort frigate, Yavaris

A wing x2

Y wing x2

B wing

Contested outpost superior positions precision strike

300 points

I was up against a vic/vic/glad no squadrons, a vic/vic/glad/glad no squadrons and tooled up double AFII with 5 aces squadron list.

The other Reb player won, and I came second - so the Reb squadrons carried the day !!! We decide how to divide up the spoils prior to the last game and played 3 rounds just to see how they looked on the table ( as we were pretty tired by then).

Big thanks to Dice Saloon in Brighton England, for hosting a great day.

Played another two round event. Got my rear handed to me. Decided to play Imperials with a fighter heavy set up, and my dice were absolutely flat. Seriously don't think I could have rolled much worse than I did. Only 6 players, but I still ended up in the bottom two. They also decided to skip the last 400. Set up, after two of the people other than me admitted they had over a 90 minute drive to get home.

Got my run at it tomorrow. Thinking a fighter heavy rebel list, just writing it up now. Tempted on the two Guppys but I fancy something different..

And yeah Friday night is a bad day for playing a full tournament of this game. Just not enough time!

Went Rebels with Garm, 2 Afmk2, Dodonnas Pride and 3 Awings. First game vs Vic, Screed, 2 Glads and a bomber platoon. Vic was too slow to avoid the whales and I went 10-0. Second game vs vic and 2 barebones glads plus Rhymer and a mess of bombers and advanced...lost 8-2. Couldnt kill the vic in time and we played the objective that gives points for face up damage...he got 7 tokens and I only took 2. Only lost the corvette but didnt kill anything besides his squadrons...the 5 tokens up on me made for a 100pt MoV. Came in 3rd in the end and Im quite happy with my new mc30 :) I felt quite bad for my second opponent tho as he rolled 5 black blanks with his bombers vs me, went on to play in the final and again rolled 5 blanks vs the mc30. Dice happen I guess.

GG all! Enjoy the tournament.

Went to a 10 person event today.

I took 3rd, and got the MC30 to trade to a friend (I only play Imps). 1st took Home One, 2nd took the ISD. I was 1 point behind 2nd, and would have beat him if not for literally 1 die roll in game 1. Rolled up with Demolisher to kill an AF, rolled 3 blanks and 1 crit/hit. Mon Mothma forced a reroll and it came up blank as well.

Destroying the ship would have put me 3 points ahead of 2nd. Just putting 1 single damage onto it would have put me 1 point above (mission was opening salvo).

Still, had a great time, and met some amazing people. Going to a 30 man tourney tomorrow.

I had a buddy back east who has an Armada fleet, but because of life had yet to play any actual games. He asked my advise, I put together a double Vic I, Demolisher, Screed list for him, and he went and played it today. He came away with second place out of 14 and took Home One as his prize. Talk about a good first three games. Admittedly, he was a phenomenal BFG player back in the day.

Well this gives me hope.  I have a 2 Vic, Screed, Demolisher list myself.  I really wanted some fighters, but I ended up pretty tricked out on two VSD IIs.  Still thinking about changing some stuff before tomorrow.  Hopefully I can do as well.

Thanks for the encouraging story,

Duncan

it was like looking into a fun house mirror

both Yavaris and Demolisher get eviscerated by Advanced Gunnery fat ships before doing a **** thing

game ends with objective, naked VSD on 1 hull and naked not-varis on 1 hull

I ended up somehow goin 10-0 and 6-4 with only a MKIIB and 2 vettes with 4 aces as squadies. Like others I only played two rounds, as we had a group of 8. Me and other finalist decided to call it a just take what we agreed on. Somehow though with such a puny fleet, I never lost a ship. Got me a Home-1!!

I played in a four person event today. I had:

Assault frigate b - dodonna and advanced projectors

Cr90b - dodonna'a pride

Neb-b escort - yavaris

1 awing

2 bwing

2 xwing

3 ywing

First game I lost 7-3 to a two victory rymer ball list. I was second with hyperspace assault I jumped my yavaris and 2 bwings and 1 ywing. The neb and some of my figters died i killed 3 ties and 2 bombers no other losses for either side

Second game I won 9 to 1. My opponent choose to go second and he had the exact same objectives as me. I picked superior positions. He had to 2 assault frigates and I think 3 xwings and 2 ywings. My yavaris and bwings helped dodonna's pride take down one assault frigate while my assault frigate and other fighters got 7 victory tokens with rear arc damage from the objective I only lost 1 ywing and 1 awing. Won by a 205 mov for 9-1 putting me back in second. We agreed not to play the last round I took second and took the mc80. The TO who doesn't play rebels ended up with the raider so I traded him my $20 store credit I won for the raider which was cool. So I left with a home one an imp raider and summer kit prizes. Not a bad day for $15

7 People at the tournament today.  I lost the first game handily (he ran a 2 AF, 2 CC, no fighter build), and won the second by a bigger margin than I lost the first (V/G, with Fel, Interceptors, and bombers).  Ended up coming in 4th for the tournament (my first), and took the Raider home.

I stayed for the Wave 2 round, and watched an Imp Star go down under Akbar/Defiance combo attacks from the MC80.  That's brutal.

I placed 4th out of 9 today. I made a mental mistake in the first game and lost by 5 VP. I lost the second game by 72 with poor tactics. I won the final game 390-0 making great use of the Precision Strike objective. Putting me at 18 tournament points and a margin of victory of 390.

I'll have a full battle report with lots of pictures some time this week. Hopefully tomorrow, but no guarantee.

The top two are building their fleets now. I already know I will get to decide between the Raider and the squadron pack. It will be an interesting match.

Great time at AFK Games in Holt, Michigan!!!

8 players and somebody had to come in last (this guy right here!).  Great competition and sportsmanship all around!!

3 Rebel Lists and 5 Imperial.  Got tabled my first game, by the eventual winner of the tourney (that counts for something, right?)  "Won" my second game by 17 pts and "won" my third game by 19 pts!!  Ya, I am that good of an Armada player!!  Finished with 10 tourney points, but I had a BLAST!!!

This store had an older tourney kit or two, so everyone walked away with tons of alt cards, dice bags and tokens.

I certainly learned a lot and can't wait to do another tournament.  Got to see all the new ships up close and Wave 2 just kicks butt!!!!

Went first in my second game. Picked opponents opening salvo. He had neb neb af with fighters list. I had demolisher insidious and a Vic 2. On my second turn demolisher got double arc on his af. Thanks to engine techs. Two shots. Took him down to 1hp. Then rammed. Insidious was able to take out a neb by turn 3. Ended with some damage on demolisher giving him half points for that. No damage on his last neb. And a few fighters taken out.

9-1 for me.

Super small tourney today. 3 peeps.

Still had to be cautious...the newcomer was running the gencon special...and was proficient.

Its not a good squad for small tourney though where all you have to do is win however. My Y squadron heavy rebs were going second against them after a 4pt bid and it was a hopeless uphill battle for him.

That fleet cannot beat kiting rebs with squadrons. Especially Y's...which are invincible.

I came away with Home 1 and the Rogues and Villians pack. Not a bad haul.

I played my first game against someone who was not myself today, and it was the final game for Sullust!  The FLGS only had a turnout of two, so we agreed to go right to the final match with new ships at 400 pts.  I took Rebs with Ackbar, cheaper MC-80, AF, MC-30, and 3xB's, Han, and Jan Ors.  He took ISD, raider, and all the unique Empire Villains plus 2xTie Adv and 1 Intercept.

Intel is awesome for a b-wing cluster, and Ackbar is a game changer.  We did Adv Gunnery, with him going first.  The B's got in 4-5 hits, but the AF and MC-80 melted the ISD in two rounds.  Mc-80 then wiped out the raider in two shots.  The ISD got in an 8 damage volley into MC-80, but Adv projectors left me without a scratch.  MC-30 was looping around, but ISD went down too fast (Turn 3).

Ackbar got me 14 extra red dice in 3 turns....

Overall, his list was very non-optimal (only 2 ships at 400pts, and no bombers), but Rebs are quite strong now.  I walked away with Home One and MC-30, nice haul for my first game!
