SemperSarge 127 Posted October 1, 2015 Hi Guys, So what does everyone think of the Nebulon-B Frigate model by space-rocks? http://www.space-rocks.net/#!escort-frigate/cioi I'd really love for FFG to release a Nebulon-B for their X-Wing game. Any news out there that FFG will produce one anytime soon?
RogueCorona 1,043 Posted October 1, 2015 Why I would like to see a Neb-B in X-Wing I doubt it will happen. One of the reasons they made the Raider rather then use the Lancer class Frigate in X-Wing is the Lancer is too big and the Nebulon-B is significantly larger then the Lancer. FTS Gecko 24,135 Posted October 1, 2015 (edited) I prefer Mel's version to Space Rocks. The Space Rocks version just looks a little... off to me. Being 3D printed, Mel's version is far more expensive, but it's also far more detailed and in my opinion looks more "official" and accurate to the film. As for FFG producing one themselves; very unlikely I'd imagine, for the reasons RogueCorona gives. The Raider seems to be the practical size limit for an X-Wing game, and Armada is there for anything larger. That said, if FFG did produce an official one themselves - even if it was only a special edition or for scenery purposes - I'd buy it! DariusAPB 6,925 Posted October 1, 2015 I've ordered mah Space rocks frigate and am super-excited for it.
Hobojebus 11,341 Posted October 1, 2015 I'm really tempted even if it never gets used in a game. 1 DariusAPB reacted to this
DariusAPB 6,925 Posted October 1, 2015 Given my (often shouted about) love of Narrative Games, this will be a "boss" in some games, a home base in others, and a set piece in some more.
VanorDM 11,599 Posted October 1, 2015 FWIW... FFG has said that 150-200m is the max size they'll ever make a ship for X-Wing. The Neb is 300m so no they have no plans on ever making one.
DariusAPB 6,925 Posted October 1, 2015 (edited) Means no Acclamator, probably no MC30 or Strike Cruiser... Not sure on Arquitens... Edited October 1, 2015 by DariusAPB
GrimmyV 7,421 Posted October 1, 2015 Thank goodness we won't see a Lancer Frigate. Still a chance for the Correlian Gunship though. The Acclamator would probably fill the entire playmat if they ever made one to scale.

The Acclamator would probably fill the entire playmat if they ever made one to scale. Going by same scale as corvette and frigate, frigate is twice the length of corvette, acclamator would be 3 times the length of same vette so not terrible, but not practical. CorGun would be in my opinion the best bet, with lancer, frigage and assassin corvette as outliers.
RogueCorona 1,043 Posted October 2, 2015 I don't know if the canon and legends lengths are the same but in Legends an Acclamiator is a little over 5 times the length of a CR90 and 2.5 times the length of a Neb-B. And like I mentioned earlier the designers said the Lancer which is one third the length of an Acclamiator is too big. The DP20, also known as the Corellian Gunship could show up though. I don't think there is an official length for the Arquitens but my best guess from watching the Clone Wars is that she would just barely fit in the under 200 meters long bracket. DariusAPB 6,925 Posted October 2, 2015 Acclamator - 450m long. Neb B - 300m long. CR90 - 150m long. I stand by my previous statement.
RogueCorona 1,043 Posted October 3, 2015 Where's your data come from because the specs I've seen say the length is 752m while the width is 450m. Are you sure you didn't just get the length and width numbers mixed up?
DariusAPB 6,925 Posted October 7, 2015 (edited) Entirely possible. I used wookieepedia, so as a source it's not ideal. <readread> In fact yes, I was using the width - Sorry! This means two things: A: The Acclamator is a real fatass of a ship, with it's arse end being wider than 3 corvettes.(feel free to add a your momma joke here). and B, even this ship is way too huge for scaling. Which is a shame as I love the Clam. Edited October 7, 2015 by DariusAPB

The Acclamator just went from shaped like a Star Destroyer to a Star Destroyer in all but name then. I wonder is it slightly longer then the Munificent now or did they get scaled up as well? In Legends the Munificent was about five percent narrower then the Acclamator but almost ten percent longer.
Marinealver 8,073 Posted October 8, 2015 (edited) Not a big fan of the current ship cards. IMHO it should have been 3 sections not two. The model looks nice though. Enough of a feel good scale compared to the CR-90 but not too large to play on tabletop. Still I am hoping for a Star Destroyer model. Also why is this off-topic? I wonder is it slightly longer then the Munificent now or did they get scaled up as well? In Legends the Munificent was about five percent narrower then the Acclamator but almost ten percent longer. Everything got scaled up a bit - including the Venator - and one ship got scaled up a lot (the Recusant-class Commerce Guild Destroyer). The version of the Providence class seen in the show (huge - twice the length of a Venator - consistently called Separatist Dreadnought) is explicitly a different class from the Invisible Hand seen in RotS - a "cruiser-carrier" rather than a "carrier-destroyer" - the Invisible Hand is still only 1088m long in modern reference works. Providence-class carrier-destroyer in Complete ICS: 1188 meters "Separatist Dreadnought" in Clone Wars Incredible Vehicles : 2,177 meters Venator-class Star Destroyer in Complete ICS = 1,137 meters Venator-class Star Destroyer in Clone Wars Incredible Vehicles = 1,155 meters Lucrehulk-class Battleship in Complete ICS = 3,170 (diameter incidentally) Lucrehulk-class Battleship in Clone Wars: Incredible Vehicles = 3,356 (length) Recusant-class light destroyer in Complete ICS = 1,187 meters Recusant-class light destroyer in Clone Wars Incredible Vehicles = 2,544 meters Munificent-class Star Frigate in Complete ICS = 825 meters Munificent-class Star Frigate in Clone Wars Incredible Vehicles = 1,199 meters However - newcanon works (Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need To Know) have restored the Venator to its original size (1137m) - though the Databank has not yet been updated and uses the 1155m figure. It's possible that some others may be changed as well, when lengths start appearing in the Databank for those ships not yet listed. RogueCorona 1,043 Posted October 8, 2015 Great. One of my complaints about TCW and the PT was the lack of small Sepratist warships and the shortage of midsized ones. Now they've made the midsized ones large and some of the ones on the small end of large much bigger.
SemperSarge 127 Posted October 12, 2015 Just purchased the Nebulon-B from Space Rocks. I'm hoping to eventually run an Age of Rebellion game where my players command a Nebulon-B. It will be great to do that and use all the FFG X-Wing game miniatures. 3 DariusAPB, RogueCorona and Durham Jedi reacted to this
RogueCorona 1,043 Posted October 12, 2015 (edited) Remembers all the fun times he has had either commanding or serving on a Nebulon-B in RPGs and sighs. It will be great to do that and use all the FFG X-Wing game miniatures. Same here! I'm planning 12 X-Wings, 6 Y-Wings, 3 A-Wings and 3 B-Wings to be based on the Nebulon-B. But the ship itself in X-Wing would be more of an Empire objective rather than actually used as an Epic ship.
