Your First List?

Recommended Posts

I kept it very simple;

Rookie Pilot - R2-F2

Rookie Pilot - R2-D2

Rookie Pilot - R5-K6

Gold Squadron - Shield Upgrade, R2, Ion Cannon Turret

Simple but fun.

Didn't go to the FLGS until wave 5, but my first Vassal tournament was during wave 1. I took 4x Y-wings with Ion Cannon Turrets. I borrowed my brother's Y-wings and some astromechs so I could get enough ships and upgrades. I think I ended up with two R2 Astromechs, two R5 Astromechs. I think I used the last 4 points to bump two of my Golds up to Greys. I didn't do so hot that tournament, but Y-wings were my favorite of the ships that were released at the time.

When I went to my first game night, I was super excited for the upcoming S&V faction so I took Fett. Since I was stuck flying Imperials, I decided to take Vader along. Then I just loaded 'em up to see how long they'd last. I just left my list at 95 points with a 5-point initiative bid. I could have put an Ion Cannon on Fett, but I don't think I did.

Boba Fett (39)

-Slave 1 (0)

-Recon Specialist (3)

-Deadeye (1)

-Advanced Proton Torpedoes (6)

-Engine Upgrade (4)

-Seismic Charges (2)

Darth Vader (29)

-Engine Upgrade (4)

-Daredevil (3)

-Cluster Missiles (4)

Played my first league game this week

120pts

Y-Wing: Gold Squadron Pilot (18)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

· R2-D2 (4)

Shield Upgrade (4)

BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

Y-Wing: Gold Squadron Pilot (18)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

R2 Astromech (1)

Hull Upgrade (3)

BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

Y-Wing: · "Dutch" Vander (23)

Ion Cannon Turret (5)

R7 Astromech (2)

HWK-290: · Kyle Katarn (21)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

· Lando Calrissian (3)

Despite katarn being intended for support, he actually became the star of the show. Almost single handedly taking out Vader.

I came at the very beginning of wave 1. Can't remember my very first list, but one of the early, early squads I loved had Wedge, Horton and Rookie.

Wedge (R5 Astromech, Determination, Proton Torpedoes)

Horton Salm (R2 Astromech, Ion Cannon Turret, Proton Torpedoes x2)

Rookie Pilot (R2-D2)

The idea was that nobody cares about the Rookie, so it keeps R2-D2 for the end game where, hopefully, they've lost enough ships that they have trouble getting damage to stick. Wedge and Horton make the torps really count, but it's still a lot of points to leave to chance. I won a Vassal tournament with it way back in the early days, but when I took it to the store I didn't fare so well.

It was a TIE Swarm with Turr Phennir.

I didn't have Howlrunner. I didn't have Push the Limit.

I did have a victory against a guy who later made history, by being the first person against whom I've ever ragequit (at a later event).

Well if you're running Turr with PTL you're doing something wrong there

PTL is actually very effective on Turr, as you can use it off of your post-combat action, when you're not in the PS 9+ metagame.

Sneaky sneaky, I always shied away from it so I could preform my post combat action. Good Catch!

First ship I bought was the YT-2400, even before I had a core set, and I was playing with my friend who started collecting like two weeks before I did. So my first list was a combo of his cards/ships and mine.

Lando + Outmaneuver + Falcon

Leebo + Outmaneuver + HLC + Recon Specialist + Outrider

I remember how frustrated my friend was with what I now call my "Breakfast food Squad" (Pancake + Donut) since he was flying a TIE swarm and he just could not hide. Plus he was surprised that Leebo could barrel roll haha.

next time we played (after I had become obsessed and nearly matched his collection in about a week) he wanted to do a 110 point game for fun so he could outfit his squad some more I guess? I turned around and I added Gunner + Jan Ors + Stealth Drive to the Falcon.

He hated the list even more.  :D

I THINK my first list was Boba and 3 TIE Fighters (can't remember upgrades of if the TIEs were named or not) and i lost horrably against double Aggressors

But my first successful build was:

M3-A (Serissu) - Swarm Tactics, Stealth Device, Title (Cannon), Mangler Cannon

M3-A (Laetin A'shera) - Stealth Device, Title (Cannon), Mangler Cannon

M3-A (Tansarii pt. vet.) - Stealth Device, Title (Cannon), Mangler Cannon

Z-95 (Bin. Pirate) - Feedback Array

I know it's not the greatest build out there, but it would be nice to revisit it with a few games and see how far I've come since I made it.

I played my first tournament just after Scum and Villainy came out.

Something like:

Palob Godalhi (Moldy Crow), Blaster Turret, Recon Specialist,

Boba Fett, Autoblaster

N'Dru Suhlak, Lone wolf, Cluster Missiles, Stealth Device.

I won the first round against Etahn A'Baht  with VI and R2-D2, along with and 3 Green A-Wings with Wingman.

That ended up being a 100-0 win for me - having taken out Etahn first, with N'Dru, in the second exchange (the first round I grabbed the TL, the next I lined up a focused cluster missle).  Then it was short work cleaning up the A-Wings.

The next round I played against another scum build - I don't remember exactly what the make up was, but it came down to the last ship, and I flew my Firespray off the map - had it had its shot, I would have won.

The final round, I was cut to ribbons by a Soontir Fel build wth two Defenders.

My first list went okay at my FLGS in a small tournament. Better than I expected but nowhere near a winning list.

YT-1300 (Han Solo) 58pts

- Millennium Falcon Title Card

- C3P0

- R2D2

- Shield Upgrade

- Draw Their Fire

2x Rookie Pilots. 42pts

In all honesty I think the first few rounds the people were more concerned with getting me used to the game than being competitive because after my third game I started dying quite horribly...

My first list back in 2013:

Wedge + PTL + R2F2 + stealth

Blue Sq. + FCS + HLC

Red Sq. + R2D2 + shield

I played it against Vader's Escort (Doomshuttle with 6 Ties) and could kill 1 or 2 Ties.

Tootled around with the core set a bit, then dove in with my second 100 point game being at a 20ish player tournament. I only had the core set, the e-wing and the HWK,so I brought:

Roark Garnet

-Moldy Crow

-Jan Ors (borrowed from another player at the store)

-ion cannon turret

Corran Horn

-Advanced Sensors

-R2-D2

-Marksmanship

Biggs Darklighter

Total: 99 points

The list worked rather well. Pretty easy for a newbie to fly. The only real constraint is keeping both ships in range 1 of Biggs. I went 4-1 in the tournament, beating panic attack, RAC Fel, fat chewie with 3 prototypes as escort, and a sort of hybrid corran/ rebel control build with the stress hog and some z's as blockers. I lost to brobots and it wasnt even close :P. I was seriously enamoured with the advanced sensors marksmanship combo on corran until I bought a b wing and realized I could get similar efficiency with FCS for 4 points less and not taking up my action.
