I was thinking of doing double whale with 8 squadrons, but never got my choice at initiative.  Players here are opting for second player normally if they have the chance, as there is a lot more advantage to it.

 

Any critique would be nice.  I was thinking of dropping one of the Y-Wings for maybe Tycho, but I think this gives me a plenty sufficient initiative bid at 294 points

So assuming you're playing for the Player 1 spot, the scenarios you pick aren't going to come up (unless someone puts in a higher init. bid lol) ...so this is more a minor tweak that may never affect the table, but I think the Advanced Gunnery red scenario is OUTstanding on the Paragon.  If its the LEAST worst scenario for your opponents, they will happily take it.  And that double side battery from Paragon will do work!!

The ability to dictate the mission and the advantage most missions give has moved a lot of the meta, at least in my area, to players vying for second player instead of shoot first move first.  There are distinct advantages to being second player.

Actually, I'm playing for the number 2 spot.  I'd rather dictate the battlefield than be first to move and shoot.  I've found it much more advantageous to react than to move first.

 

You are also absolutely correct about Advanced Gunnery.  I needed to reread that.  Thanks.

This is a matter of personal taste and previous experiences of course, but I would trade the Y Wings for A Wings. No bomber, but they move fast enough to cover for Luke or Dutch while still getting a black die. Just a thought
