Roges and Villains Spoilers

Also interesting it shows all 10 upgrade cards for the MC30. This means that the hidden card was the engineering captain (bit dull) and that the XV9 turbolasers which we first saw in the fan of the first armada article got replaced by Turbolaser reroute circuits.

XV9 might be in the rest of the MC80 but that shows slaved Turrets. . . Hmmmmm

Chirenau and Mauler will be getting a new pal named Boba.

The Firespray should hopefully convince those who hate spending activations on squadron to finally take a squadron command. The downside (don't tell these people, stress rogue with them) is the sprays damage/cost comes to .083 which puts it roughly halfway between a TIE and a TIE bomber for anti-ship. Those folks who CAN use the squadron command intelligently will be rewarded by using the bomber. The anti-squadron LOOKS better, but comes out to the same .083 damage/cost anti-squadron.

The Jumpmaster and Dengar are interesting as pure support ships. Neither has the stats to be worth running on their own. But, the Jumpmaster at 12 points is just 2 more than chirpy and can shoot whereas chirpy can't. Even more, the master can allow squadrons to shoot from their current location instead of having to move. So instead of needing a whole squadron command to reposition a bomber group already in position, a simple token to reposition master will do.

Dengar does all that and provides the anti-squadron buff. I'd lean towards the generic master most of the time. The intel on Dengar will often go wasted as he's running with a squadron superiority crowd (if you're doing the Howlrunner trick). HOWEVER, if you can resist not running that trick, having a bomber wing all with counter 1 will give opposition TIEs a nightmare. Won't take too much capital ship fire to clean them up.

Boba's ability is worded as "when you activate," so am I correct in interpreting that to mean you only get free damage if you begin your activation at range one of something, or can you get free damage after your movement too?

Yup. Distance 1 at time of activation

100% sold on getting one of these packs. I can see why they left this for the last reveal....  what an upgrade to the game!

Astonishingly good.

I shall be using Dengar/Howlie/2x TIE advanced as my standard imperial dogfighting cadre from now on.

By the way, I can read sh*tty writing due to being a high school teacher.

Dash Rendar (Outrider):

While attacking, you may re-roll one dice for each enemy ship or squadron at distance 1.

The aggressor looks like an autonomous X-wing to me but trades in escort for counter 1 which will usually be an improvement. However, is the 3 points for rogue worth it?

IG-88 instead compares to the Interceptor with better speed and counter. Whether you take Fel or IG-88 will depend largely upon style and what you're putting around it. IG-88 is the obvious choice to run solo, whereas Fel needs some support and also wants to do the alpha strike.

IG-88 kills Fel+Advanced combos. So good

eck, that is a hard sell over Solo

need some math wizard to give me a calculation for when X re-rolls for four blues equates 2 blues + 2 blacks in anti-squadron value, ditto a bomber black die v 1 blue & 1 black none bomber

So... about Dash:

"While attacking, you may reroll 1 die for each enemy squadron or enemy ship at distance 1"

I have 1 black anti-ship die. I have 4 squadrons and my target ship at distance 1. Do I get to reroll my single die 5 times? The trigger is "while attacking", so it's during you modify dice step, if you get 5 rerolls but only have 2 dice I see no problem in rerolling some of them multiple times, because nowhere is it specified that you can't reroll a die multiple times, only that cards trigger once per opportunity (which is why Warlord only worked for your initial roll).

Well average damage from Han is 2.5 AS and 1.25 Battery.

Dash is 2.0 AS and 1 Battery.

I'm nearly 100 sure that 2 re-rolls would have Dash equaling Han in AS. I think 2 re-rolls would also bring his Battery higher then Han as well by a slight margin.

Overall I'd comfortably say 3 re-rolls is where Dash out damages Han in both regards.

The YT-1300 has counter 1 and escort, but Han Solo doesn't?

I think the plain YT-1300 and 2 Y-wings is going to be my default Gallant Haven/AFMKIIB accompaniment.  Only 33 points, and absurdly durable.  As the YT-1300 isn't heavy, they can actually pin down squadrons, and should even be able to kill basic squadrons with the help of flight controllers on the AFIIB.

If points allow, expanded hangar bay and a B-wing would just make it gravy.

-----------

Also, Nym / Adar Tallon / Yvaris shenanigans are going to be priceless.

• A “while” effect can be resolved during the specified event and cannot occur again during that instance of the event.

Hmmmm you would have to take all the rerolls all at once. . . I would need an FAQ or a good explanation

So, apparently re-posting some preview pictures is a good way to get your blog traffic to skyrocket. Hopefully I end up with a few more followers. I've enjoyed writing the posts, but never sure how many are reading.

There is some definite fun to be had with the new squadrons. I think a few of them will be enough of a threat to ships to require some defensive squadron play if only to keep people honest.

On the other hand, wow are they expensive overall. It will still be a challenge to take many of the new squadrons while keeping up the size of your fleet.

I'm wondering how much damage you could do with 4-6 squadrons of Firesprays? That would be something that would have to be countered.

I am hoping to do this with my YouTube channel

The best way to counter that would be to drip feed them X-Wings. To destroy them. . . Jan's and A-Wings could do it. . . Dengar, Howlrunner and 2 Interceptors
