Nyxen 1,605 Posted September 17, 2015 I don't understand the mindset of being against it. No ones making you play with it or like the new ships. They're making you play with it /if/ you want to play official ffg events, or events using official ffg tournament rules. Now forgive me if I'm mistaken but your average competitive player has at the bare minimum of one of everything just for the upgrade cards. I don't see how this is any different than that. As a community we've been saying to each other that logistically speaking, a new damage deck would be messy, but for he state of the game necessary. So why is everyone losing their mind? Crabbok 9,798 Posted September 17, 2015 FFG should just charge $50 for every tournament (on top of FLGS fees) and throw a discount in the TFA starter that reduces the price to zero if you bring the new damage deck.
DanDoulogos 753 Posted September 17, 2015 (edited) I don't mind the idea of buying a new damage deck - assuming it is priced appropriately. I can understand however (edit: is) if some don't like the idea of buying a "whole 'nother" starter set just to get a damage deck. heychadwick 11,354 Posted September 17, 2015 I think the people who are complaining are not considering buying a spare deck off ebay or a local gamer for a small amount. They want to complain that they have to purchase a whole, new starter set. It's not necessarily true, though. 1 VanorDM reacted to this
CrookedWookie 1,258 Posted September 17, 2015 And if they turn around and release it separately, a ton of people who got the new core set will immediately start complaining that they never would bothered if they'd known they could just buy the damage deck later. Complainers gonna complain. 2 Plainsman and ShakeZoola72 reacted to this
Slugrage 5,007 Posted September 17, 2015 Yay for Active Thread Number Five about the damage deck! (Did we really need *another* thread for this?) 6 Sithborg, chilligan, digitalbusker and 3 others reacted to this

It's not necessarily true, though. I would be careful with E-bay. I don't even want to imagine how many "New X-wing Damage Decks" popping up on Ebay which happens to be the ones from the old core set.
heychadwick 11,354 Posted September 17, 2015 Yes, but you can then report them. There are mechanisms for fraud.
trustybroom 570 Posted September 17, 2015 All these complainers have it easy. If I want Lego Velma and Daphne minifigs to go with my Lego Mystery Machine, I either have to spend $27 on BrickLink or buy the one set they come in for $88. It's highway robbery I tell 'ya! 1 Nyxen reacted to this
DraconPyrothayan 6,107 Posted September 17, 2015 Among other things, the new deck increases the viability of High PS Shenanigan builds, Pilot Talent-Dependent shenanigans, and Secondary Weapon shenanigans. Y'know. 'Cause we didn't have enough Soontir Fel vs Twin-Laser Turret matchups already. I was hoping that Marek Steele could put a stop to both lists, but I guess not. Nyxen 1,605 Posted September 17, 2015 Personally I would have liked them to make crits even less forgiving; every upgrade removable, with double damage if the effect doesn't apply. This way makes a good fix as well, at least there really isn't a dud crit like there used to be.
