[PbP] Heirs to the Legacy IC

Recommended Posts

Kell swiveled in his seat, punching buttons on the navicomputer, charting a course for the rendevous point. A beeping from his right caught his attention as a flashing light lit the dim cockpit covering him in a bright red light. He reached over, pressing the button and the chirping ceased and he read a display and keyed the inter-com.

"Everyone prepare for hyperspace jump in....5....4....3....2.....1"

Kell rested a hand on the set of levers that would trigger The Rapier's hyperspace drives and as he spoke the word "One" he pushed them forward turning the starfield outside the cockpit into brilliant white lines of light and then coalescing into the swirling vortex of hyperspace. Then triggering the inter-com again...

"We made it to light-speed, but just before we did, we got scanned by a warship that had just come out of hyperspace."

This realization was enough to worry the crew. The Order had far-reaching resources, and if they had locked onto their ship before the hyperspace jump, it wouldn't be too long before they would be able to start searching along their vector. The good news was that the rendezvous was in empty space, not around any identifiable celestial bodies. But it was also fairly close. They would not be able to rest very long at this point; the risk of being found was too great.

(Any input here is totally welcome, but will push ahead the narrative slightly all the same. Feel free to play off this information from any point in the timeline here.)

The haze of hyperspace reverted back to a starry scene that was very similar to that from Glee-Anselm's orbit. They were well outside the system in interstellar space, and ahead—just within comm frequency—was the Gladiator, an aging Wookiee battlecruiser that was to play host to their debrief.

Marsten's worry manifested in his words. "Not good if that warship is tracking us. We can't stay here long. Perhaps-"

Marsten stops talking being cut off from the Wookie roar from the comlink. Raising a brow over one eye, he turned to the others. "Anyone else catch that?" pausing for a second for an answer. "Maybe Hal has a protocol program in his head somewhere?" He quizzed sarcastically. "Either way, might be a good thing for them to make a jump out of here once we land." He added.

First the Wardroid doing what Marsten could only call a "scan" of him, now the Warship doing the same, plus the loss of Dev; all this gives the Order heaps of intel. That doesn't sit well with Marsten.

"We made it to light-speed, but just before we did, we got scanned by a warship that had just come out of hyperspace."

"Wh-wait what?" This took Gael quite by surprise. Too focused on his own temper and brooding in the corner made Gael unwary of the situation around him. However, when he picked up on this news, it only meant more trouble.

"Not good if that warship is tracking us. We can't stay here long. Perhaps-" "Wyaaaaaa...rua rruf rrrrrrrrg hya?" "Anyone else catch that? Maybe Hal has a protocol program in his head somewhere? Either way, might be a good thing for them to make a jump out of here once we land."

Gael walked over to the cockpit and raised a brow at the Wookie's comment. "Hey Lavin, do you know what he's saying?"

What did he say?

(To Gael)

-He sounded angry, right? Oh, well, I guess all wookies sound angry...

Lavin smiles at his own joke and reaches for the comm.

<This is AA-61348BT64G-005. We request permission to not be blown into pieces, sir. Thank you.>

(Now off the com)

-He was joking. He wasn't going to blow us to pieces.

Lavin turns and walks away

-He was just going to vaporise us.

The PC at my house went down so I need to occasionally post from my phone when I don't post from work so ignore the goofy formatting when my phone doesn't include the color options.

(Spoken aloud) "I always enjoy listening to this language even when I don't know what it means. Doesn't it just get you excited to help everybody Gael? I know it can be scary at first but when you know the Wookie is on your side, it just becomes a great motivational tool."

Tahiri felt a sense of happiness meeting up with the resistance. He was pretty new to the cause but felt that he could really provide a strong and capable person to fill in where needed. Tahiri thought to himself "Inwonder what they will have us do next, I mean, I'm pretty sure they won't let us turn around and go after or friend but hopefully we can help him eventually.

"I know exactly what you mean. When you know that the strength and heart of Wookie is on your side, it seems as if you could do anything. I'm sure that's how the late Captain Solo felt about his copilot..."

Gael did not fully finish his thought. After hearing of the great and heroic feats Solo was credited with, it almost felt as though no matter who you were, the Resistance would always welcome those willing to fight with open arms. However, the thought that even in the Rebellion's greatest hours they were still utterly defeated and broken after the Battle of Endor was hard to bear. It meant that even with Solo's great achievements and Skywalker's strength, the Dark Side still managed to destroy all of their hopes with one fell swoop. It also meant that Gael had to get himself out of the Gutter of misery and actually focus on the task! He walked back to his seat and smiled at how much he still had to learn of the Force and tranquility.

As the clearance for docking came over the radio Kell nudged the Rapier forward and down underneath the cruiser, docking the craft at the ventral hatch and flipping a few switches to lock them in place and cycling the airlocks before unstrapping himself from his seat and moving back through the ship towards the 'lock.

The heroes were greeted by a motley band of fringers—a male Sullustan, a female Wookiee, and a couple rough-looking humanoids in layers of wrappings and cybernetics. The Sullustan was new, but the Wookiee and the other two were familiar.

These are friends of yours. Please "ad-lib!" Invent some names and facts, and feel free to show familiarity in your greetings.

Marsten stepped down the Rapier's ramp and stopped across from the four greeting them, specifically in front of the human with the cybernetic arm and leg. "Summers!" Marsten called out surprised. He outstretched a hand to greet him. "I thought you retired?" He asked while shaking hands. Immediately firing another question at him, "Is it getting that bad that they'd dig an old fossil out?"

Gael was about to stand up when he realized his seat belt was stuck, and it took him a good while to get it off, potentially breaking it in the process. When he had gotten out of his chair, everyone was already walking out of the hangar. Gael ran at a steady pace to catch up to the crew.

I'm not very good at coming up with names or ad-libbing, so I'll let everyone else create the names, and I'll just play along with it.

The female Wookiee grabbed Lavin in a great big hug. <Good to see you in one piece, shorty,> she chortled.

"Retired?" Said Summers, grinning. "As if they'd let me. How did things go on Glee Anselm? I heard you were on a recruiting mission."

Kell heaved his duffel bag over his shoulder, following Marsten down the ramp, almost slamming into the Gank's back as he pulled up short at the bottom of the ramp. Deftly weaving his way around Marsten as he called out to Summers, he made his own way over towards the blue-skinned Twi'lek woman. They greeted each other with an embrace, briefly touching their forheads together and then Kell pulled back with a broad smile, speaking in her native Rylothian tongue, accompanied by subtle movements of his head-tails. Switching to basic he asked the obvious question

"Biala, who's the new guy?"

Smiling back at him, her hands resting on his arms, Biala answered, "Kell, this is Gragg Nunb. He's in weapons engineering, and he's one of our key players to get the Sullustan resistance onboard."

The Sullustan perked up at the introduction. "It is...very nice to...make...your acquaintance," he said in heavily-accented, halting Basic. "I have heard...much about you...in my...short...time here, and I am...honored to meet such brave...soldiers. I have...many tales to tell...of my people...suffering...at the hands...of the Order..." he continued, showing no sign of stopping.

Tahiri exited the craft and quickly made note of the new face. Tahiri enjoyed meeting new faces and seeing new recruits. Deep down, it provided a sense of peace in his decision to join the Resistance. Tahiri's nature was to help those he felt needed it the most and The resistance was fighting the biggest adversary in the galaxy. Tahiri overheard Kell ask about the new face and stepped forward to introduce himself after hearing Gragg explain a little about himself.

"It is a pleasure to meet you Gragg. My name is Tahiri. I'm sure we will see each other quite frequently if you are in engineering. When I have a little downtime, I like to head down to engineering. It is a hobby of mine. One day, I plan to build my own armor. I also enjoy tinkering with gadgets and trying to improve the things around me. Maybe you can teach me a thing or two later."

Gragg stopped mid-stream at Tahiri's greeting. His ears perked extremely high at the prospect of teaching something. "Oh! Yes...I would be...happy...to show you...some...things," he said, offering a handshake. "Why, it's like what I...told my associates on Sullust. It is always...nice...to...share knowledge and understanding...with those interested...and in doing so...one hopes to gain a better...understanding...of one's self. It reminds me...of a time that I myself was...tinkering with an invention of mine..."

-Roohyara...

Lavin tries to speak without chewing too much hair.

-Roohyara, I can't breath, remember?

-Wooooo yiiaaaaoooo raaaaahooooyewwww!

-Ummm, he...- Lavin denies slightly with his head -he couldn't make it. We got company, and they took him. We'll tell everything in detail as soon as we can drop by the cantina and throw some of that tar Randy calls 'Corellian whisky' down our dusty throats. Tell me, what about here? Any news while we were on holidays? Has your nephew gotten married already?

Lavin slowly walks away from the docking bay with Rooh, chatting.

<Captain Arrayyyk wants to debrief you as soon as possible,> came Roohyara's reply. She pointedly avoided answering the question about her nephew.

"Oh, that's right," said Gragg the Sullustan, halting his otherwise non-stop chatting to impart the orders. "We're supposed to bring you up to the bridge right away."

"Rooh always thought that girl was never meant for her nephew. I wonder if they've split up." Lavin's thoughts go around a more sinister idea. "Of course, Rooh's nephew is doing supply job for The Resistance in Iridonia, and that's a dangerous assignment... When this mission is done, I should have some words with her."

Lavin answers Gragg requirement with a hint of weariness in his eyes. It's been a tough mission, and they've lost a man, probably forever. But once we here to do this, let's finish it.

-After you, then.

Listening to the conversation between his squad-mates and their counterparts, Kell nodded at Gragg's statment of taking them to the bridge right away. Hooking an arm around Biala's waist, he spoke up

"We should probably get to it, we got scanned as we were leaving Glee Anselm's gravity well by what I am guessing was an Order warship so we may have to leave here in a hurry as well."

He and the Twi'lek woman following along the in wake of the Wookie and Lavin.
