awayputurwpn 7,720 Posted December 17, 2015 After much ado and wrong turns, the group caught up with the Anselmi and quickly commed Gael to come and meet them with the ship. The elders that they had previously spoken to were staying in a small refugee camp outside the city, a ramshackle little ghetto in a cove by the sea, sheltered by a grove of brushpalm trees that grew from the cliffs all around, forming a natural high-domed ceiling. The eyes of a hundred Anselmi were on the crew of the Rapier as they approached, and one of the elders rushed forward to greet them. "We feared the worst when those troopers showed up," he said. "Did you escape? Or drive them off?" He looked out at the sky, as if fearful that they had been followed here by the forces of the Order.
maverikid 15 Posted December 17, 2015 (edited) Gael didn't answer. Instead he looked towards his friend Lavin to tell the bad news. On the way there, the group had explained what had happened, and indeed the Order had dealt a heavy blow by leaving the team in shambles and short a companion. And worse, not only would they now know that the Resistance had been doing something on Glee Anselm, but their torture methods would surely force Dev to reveal what exactly their activities were. Gael snapped out of his trance and decided to introduce himself. As Gael spoke, he held out a hand. "Oh, hello. We haven't met, have we? Sorry, I was busy with our ship. Pleased to meet you, I'm Gael, yet another name you have to remember of our crew of seven. I'll let Lavin inform you of the recent events." Jereru 171 Posted December 17, 2015 -Well, we drove them off... a bit. The thing is that they captured one of our comrades. We won't ever let him down, so we were wondering... if you'd have any intel on where could he have been taken... Of course, Lavin knows that sometimes rescues are out of the question, but he's showing off a bit in front of the Anselmi - they need to believe in the Resistance. awayputurwpn 7,720 Posted December 18, 2015 The elder looked between Lavin and Gael with regret in his eyes. "The Order have taken many, my friends. You should resign yourselves to the fact that you'll never see your comrade again. Make peace with it, and move on." Another Anselmi, this one much younger and very gaunt, stood next to his elder. "Is it true that you faced off against Dark Knights? How are you still alive?"
ApocalypseZero 224 Posted December 18, 2015 "We're built better." Marsten says, answering the question while pointing towards Hal and himself. He thought about making a crack about the Jedi's using sorcery or magic tricks to stay alive, but decided against it. Besides, this looked like an impressionable youth, no need filling their heads with delusions. Their elders were surely monopolizing that. He then turns to the group. "They seem to be in good shape. We should leave before we cause that fate to change. Order is likely tracking movements along the planet. Let's hope they didn't follow our ship." Marsten says to the group, not worrying about social decorum or procedure. They had a job to do, and risking the lives of the ones your working for doesn't lend itself to job well done. maverikid 15 Posted December 18, 2015 Gael already knew that when a friend was taken or gone, especially at the hands of the Order, there was almost no getting them back. However, that didn't mean he couldn't try. Obviously this elder had already given up on the galaxy entirely if he thought on those terms. Gael was about to answer, before remembering that answering in anger only made things worse. He had learned to let Lavin do most of the talking, but sometimes it was so infuriating to hear others say that no matter what, the Order can take anything from you and there's nothing you can do about it. Gael answered Marsten without so much as a hint of hesitation. "I agree with Marsten. Not only does it seem that this mission was a failure, but we have also lost a friend in a single fight. In addition to that, these Anselmi leaders don't seem very keen on standing up for themselves. I'm sorry Lavin, but these guys have already given up hope, and without that there is no way that they could help the Resistance." Gael whispered harshly. Jereru 171 Posted December 19, 2015 -That, they might have. Wouldn't have you, also, if in their skin? Maybe it's part of our job to give them back what's been stripped away from them, one way or another. Lavin somehow resists the idea of leaving a comrade behind, but it's true that he is not as well versed in The Order's methods as others might be. In any case, some things are still to be done, so Lavin tries to stay focused. -We should inform the High Command about the result of the negotiations and the fate of our friend, and see what orders we get next, shouldn't we? Then turns to the Anselmi. -It's been an honour treating with you.
awayputurwpn 7,720 Posted December 19, 2015 "We feel the same," the elder inclined his head in a gesture of respect. "It is clear to me that the Force is with you. We will look forward to dealing with the Resistance in the very near future. "But now, you should leave. The Order will surely be searching for you." maverikid 15 Posted December 19, 2015 "I-" Gael stopped in the before he could say anything. Lavin made a good point, as he has always done. After all, he was more adept in the Light Side of the Force than the rest of the would be Jedi. It was difficult to admit he was wrong, but Gael knew that if that he was to be a Jedi like his father, he would have to learn to tone down his anger, aggression, and fear. However, that did not mean he had to admit his mistakes aloud. Gael nodded to the Anselmi leader as he changed the subject to more pressing matters than his own. "Alright, anyway like the Anselmi leader said, we have to go. The ship is nearby, and we have to figure out what the deal is with this Death Star upgrade as soon as possible." After he said this, he began to move out of the Anselmi shelter for the Rapier.
BigSpoon 373 Posted December 20, 2015 "I could still really use some treatment. If anybody has an extra stims, or if you have a healer that could bandage me up quickly" The last piece of that comment directed towards the elder. Kell had been functioning on will and discipline for the trek over here, his wounds had stopped bleeding at least but were still painful and made him wince every time his armor raked over them. "After that, I agree we should go before we bring any unwanted attention down on this camp."

Kell had been functioning on will and discipline for the trek over here, his wounds had stopped bleeding at least but were still painful and made him wince every time his armor raked over them. "After that, I agree we should go before we bring any unwanted attention down on this camp." The younger, gaunt Anselmi dug into his pockets and produced a single stim. "I was saving this for our people..." he glanced at his elder, who appeared shocked. "After all, our militia soldiers requisition most of our supplies for their missions, and we are normally happy to go without, but it is a strain. That is why I withheld this," he said, more by way of explanation to the reproving elder than anything. "Uh, at any rate, here you go. I expect you saved our lives by fighting off the Order, so it's the least I can do for you." He handed the stim to Kell. "I know that our people don't always see eye to eye. I hope that the Nautolans and the Anselmi are able to work together against evil in the future...you've made that a possibility, I feel."
maverikid 15 Posted December 22, 2015 Awwww! That kid's nice.
BigSpoon 373 Posted December 23, 2015 Kell stepped forward to meet the young Anselmi, taking the proffered stim and clasping the young man's hand with his own. "I won't forget it. I too hope this marks a new era of cooperation between our peoples against the evil and injustice of the New Order." Giving the young man a friendly smile before stepping back and turning to the elder. Placing his right fist into the palm of his left hand and holding them out in front of his chest, he delivered a short bow of respect to the elder. "May the Force be with you." With that Kell withdrew from the conversation, popping the stim as he walked up the ramp to the Rapier. Walking with purpose as the stimm gave him renewed energy and health, he dropped into the pilot's seat and began pre-flight checks, flipping switchs and twisting knobs as he brought the engines to life. Crazy Aido 139 Posted December 23, 2015 With smoke still drifting gently out of the giant crack in it's front housing. H4L beeps occasionally. It turns to Marsten. I'm not entirely sure how you biologicals do it, but next time you want to make an example of me, try to make sure it's not when I about to collapse into a pile of spare parts and paper-clips. maverikid 15 Posted December 23, 2015 (edited) Gael stepped into the ship looking for a space of his own to calm down. The Rapier wasn't very large, so he usually didn't have his own room. As his teammates began stepping into the ship, Gael began to tighten his cybernetic arm. "So what are we going to tell high command? There is no way that they will give us permission to go and save Dev, that's for sure." Gael stopped for a second, closing his eyes and trying to calm himself down. He was known for having a cynical outlook on the world, and it was definitely showing now more than ever. He looked at Marsten, then to Kell. Suddenly the ships engines began to start, and the entire ship began to rumble. "You sure you got this Kell? Not that I'm much of a pilot myself, but…" Gael sighed. He felt horribly depressed. Why were they even fighting? What was the point? None of their missions had ever made a difference, at least not big ones. For all he knew, the entire galaxy was doomed and all of this rebellion was futile. He sat down and leaned his back against the seat and thought about his future. What future? OtterJethro 58 Posted December 23, 2015 "High Command won't give the authorization to go after Dev'rios right now unfortunately. We will go after him soon enough. Even without High Command's position, we can start to monitor and watch for any information on Dev'rios location. My fear is they dark side influence he will be subjected to. A corrupted version of our good friend Dev'rios may come find us some day. Even still, I will always save this place for Saber Three. He will always be one of us." Tahiri knew that the Order would spend little time waiting before seeking to corrupt his friend into a tool for its destructive purposes. Tahiri sat down in a chair in the passenger lounge. He stared deeply into the empty chair next to him. "Stand strong good friend. We will not give up on, do not give up on us." Tahiri closed his eyes and tried to feel the force. He secretly hoped that Dev'rios would hear his words but could not feel Dev'rios through the force.
Jereru 171 Posted December 24, 2015 (edited) Just a while before, in the Anselmi cave... (meanwhile, in the Batcave... ) Lavin wonders what is happening into Gael's mind. He is a very enthusiastic guy, but right now seems quite frustrated. Actually, Lavin himself is quite frustrated as well. How could he be not? Dev'rios has been captured, and they are helpless about it. These things really take a toll on brave young men like Lavin's fellows... Lavin turns his head when he catches a bit of the conversation going on. -I was saving this for our people... The young Anselmi is giving Kell their last Stim. Wait. Is this how they're helping these people? Sucking them dry of their last resources? -Youngling, yours is a gesture of generosity and noblesse- Lavin says. -But we swore you won't suffer under the Resistance's protection. Here, have this- Lavin produces two Stimpacks. -One to replace the one you kept for your people, and another one as a gift to you to show our appreciation for your will to sacrifice. We won't ever forget this, young... what was your name? Sorry to bring this up now, but I failed to catch up with the convo so lost the chance to give Kell one of my Stims. Then thought I couldn't let the Anselmi give us theirs while I'm hoarding mines, AND rewarding the young one for being generous would also make a nice scene where to tighten our new ties with the Anselmi. ApocalypseZero 224 Posted December 24, 2015 Marsten starts to turn away from the gathering towards the ship. With Hal's remarks, he motions for Hal to join him. "At least they're not Jawas." He joked towards Hal. "Besides, all your thrillin' heroics has endeared these good people to you. Who knows, you might get a statue." He continued to joke. "You can also take comfort in the fact that you were the primary threat. Yep, a real bad ass. State of the bad ass art. Now, go and get yourself patched up. Can't show you off looking like this." Marsten said climbing into the ship. Once inside, he headed towards the cockpit. BigSpoon 373 Posted December 24, 2015 (edited) Kell flicked another couple switches into the "On" postion, spinning in his chair as Gael leaned into the cockpit. "You sure you got this Kell? Not that I'm much of a pilot myself, but…" "Yea, I'm not as talented as Dev, but I'm a trained pilot. Make sure everybody is strapped in, I'm going to run a passive sensor scan and then if you could check the secondary fuse couplings, I don't want to blow one if we have to make a quick getaway." Kell hoped that giving Gael something to do would take his mind off of Dev'rios, He spun his seat back around, locking it into position as he check the instruments one more time before punching up the sensors, starting to run a passive scan to check if there was any air traffic in their immediate vicinity that could complicate their take off. (Just trying to see whats up there without giving away our position, and then I think we'll be ready to move on as soon as everybody is aboard.) maverikid 15 Posted December 28, 2015 (edited) Gael did as Kell asked, slowly rising from his seat to check those couplings. Things looked in order until he realized the fuse was a little outdated and would need some upgrades to keep it from blowing. Luckily, Gael had the perfect solution. When Gael had been stuck on the streets for so long, he soon learned that tinkering with mechanisms was a good hobby to pass the time, as well as a good source of some sort of learning without a true curriculum. All he had to do was install his own device onto the coupling… there we go. "Alright Kell the coupling should be fine now, just needed some adjustments. Trust me, it'll work. And if it blows during flight, I promise I'll go get some proper training." Edited December 28, 2015 by maverikid

awayputurwpn 7,720 Posted January 22, 2016 (edited) The Rapier lifted from the sandy ground and shot into the sky, leaving the watery world of Glee Anselm behind—for now. Just as the crew prepared for their hyperspace jump, their scanners picked up a large warship entering the system—likely reinforcements for their rebellions activity. The crew couldn't be sure of the type of ship, but the passive scan results were reading something quite large and definitely not friendly. Leaving now? The Rapier is out of range of the warship, so it can't catch you, but you can be sure that it has scanned you. You can still get while the getting's good. I'm assuming you're heading towards your rendezvous point, which is why I didn't require an Astrogation check Edited January 22, 2016 by awayputurwpn
