RogueCorona 1,043 Posted December 17, 2015 News from the Gothic sector: Ok GW has done a ton of idiotic things but that game looks awesome. I've wanted a BFG PC game since BFG first came out.
Green Knight 9,732 Posted December 17, 2015 Just remember that 99% of all 40k-releated games are crap. You play them anyways, because it's 40k, but they are crap.

ChozoHybrid 0 Posted December 21, 2015 I have been keeping an eye on this for a bit, and have to say that I think it looks okay so far. Will need to see more on the non-imperial or chaos factions first though.
Funk Fu master 825 Posted December 21, 2015 Am I the only one who cant wait for this to be modded to Star Wars. Then you can have "Battlefleet Gothic: Armada: Star Wars Armada"
dante1811 1 Posted December 23, 2015 I'm hoping it's good, I love the space opera genre and if they can capture the epics scale of the game, it would be awesome.

True, one thing GW has always been really great at is in the imagery department and BFG is right up there...

I think you are confusing pessimist with realist considering this is about a 40k pc game...So far in 20 years time they only got 1 right (Dawn of War). That said the trailer looks nice. Relic (the maker of DoW) also made Space Marine, another good 40k game. GW has been very open to licensing their IP lately however, so a lot of budget titles have come out. They're not bad games, just not triple A titles. And most of them are really phone/tablet games when you get down to it. This company's previous game was also a space ship battle game, but it was multiplayer only and never built any traction. But I am cautiously optimistic for this game! reegsk 742 Posted February 16, 2016 I will say that Mordheim was excellent and I've heard good things about Vermintide. Hopefully they're turning around their GW video game troubles. Warhammer: Total War also looks fantastic, and combines my two favorite strategy games of all time (RIP Warhammer). 2 mikemcmann and TheEasternKing reacted to this
RogueCorona 1,043 Posted February 16, 2016 Honestly BFG Armada is of the most interest to me of their recent games by far. I still don't have a computer that can handle it but I hope to soon. I sometimes buy Steam games my current computer can't handle when they are on sale but BFG is very expensive even when on sale so I wanted some opinions on it before doing so. DScipio 812 Posted March 7, 2016 Just remember that 99% of all 40k-releated games are crap. You play them anyways, because it's 40k, but they are crap. Cant agree on that. Games like Chaos Gate, Final Liberation and even Space Marine were very fine games. The Dawn of War games are also widely considered as excellent games. So yes, Firewarrior was mediocre (i liked it, but only for the story) and Rites of War was a silly Panzer general clone, and there are some other bad games. But surley not 99%. Until recently we didnt even see many 40k games, because they were so restricing with the license. Vermintide, Warhammer Total war and Mordheim also look like good games. 2 TheEasternKing and Hesekiel reacted to this
reegsk 742 Posted March 7, 2016 Mordheim was a fantastic adaptation of the tabletop game. The feel was very true to Mordheim, and it was visually beautiful. I've heard good things about Vermintide, and Total War looks amazing. . .but I'm a HUGE Total War junky. (Although the original release of Rome II almost broke my love with the games). Lord Tareq 704 Posted March 25, 2016 Seems this will indeed turn out to be one of the rare decent GW licensed games. I gave the current alpha a try and the combat is quite fun and characterful. Whether the game will be worth it depends on how they'll do the campaign, but the fleet combat they absolutely nailed. Unfortunately the system requirements are very high, and on my older pc (radeon 5850 videocard) it ran absolutely crap even on the lowest settings, so I won't pick it up myself. Hesekiel 220 Posted April 4, 2016 Just remember that 99% of all 40k-releated games are crap. You play them anyways, because it's 40k, but they are crap. Ehm, not really. Chaos gate was decent back in the days, though it depicted 2nd edition WH40k if I remember correctly. The DOW series was awesome as it managed to capture the atmosphere - I loughed so hard the first time my ork cap'n mocked the eldar farseer for her monologue before her death.. great humor. The first DOW was heavily modded as well, and the "firestorm over kronus/tau'rava" mod brought the game more or less in line with the 3,5 edition by that time. Armageddon was an okay panzer general clone for long winter nights, nothing to tell your kids later about, but not bad. Space marine was doing good as well. Looking into WHFB, shadow of the horned rat was great, mark of chaos was decent and warhammer: total war so far looks great as well. Judging from the list of WH related games at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Games_Workshop_video_games, I would say 60-70% of those games were enjoyable? reegsk 742 Posted April 5, 2016 Don't forget about Dark Omen! It was the same engine as Shadow of the Horned Rat but a friendlier interface. And there was just something about Mark of Chaos I didn't like. The updated graphics over SotHR were nice, but it was just. . .meh.
Marinealver 8,073 Posted May 18, 2016 For balance everyone is complaining about Nova Cannons. I have a simple solution. give Eldar the Void Walker, Give Orks their gigantic Space Hulk and give Chaos the Planet Killer, then laugh as nova cannons are throwing eggs at a stone wall! Green Knight 9,732 Posted May 18, 2016 Having played some BFG: A, I can say that it's not a horrible game. It looks kind of nice, and the campaign held my attention fro a short while, but ultimately it failed to engage. You can either sit back and let the auto-pilot do everything, or you can try to micromanage every ship, which becomes frustrating once you reach 4+ hulls. So, not a bad game, but not one I'm likely to start up again.
