Teh HOBO 302 Posted September 6, 2015 Anyone have any experience with a pure "choke them with our dead" list? Been thinking about this: Vic I Motti Vic I Vic I Howlrunner 5x TIE Fighter I suppose I could drop a TIE to bump Motti to Screed and an upgrade on one of the Victorys, say maybe assault missiles. Not sure it's worth it though.
corlinjewell 34 Posted September 6, 2015 I've run something similar to this and the problem I ran into was that the TIEs become pretty useless if the enemy doesn't bring a lot of squadrons. I think it would do better against Imperials, but Rebels know they can skirt around the edges of your VSDs and hit you with their long-range firepower. If they can get a leg-up in victory points, they will probably just run away.
Mundo 250 Posted September 6, 2015 Interesting idea, and feels like a thematic Imperial implacable style. I also think as an Imperial player you need to bring at least 3 ships just to keep up with Rebel activations - otherwise they can run rings around you, especially if they have initiative. That is a lot of damage your list can soak up too! However, I would be tempted to scale back the TIEs to a screen to keep away the rebel bombers, and invest some more points in ship upgrades. Since killing ships is the most important element of combat, you need to make sure your Victorys can hit really hard. Maybe drop 3 TIEs or Howlrunner + 1 TIE in exchange for Assault Concussion Missiles on all ships and Admiral Screed to make sure they go off. I played a game on the weekend where my single Victory-I with just ACMs killed a Neb, rammed another Neb to death in the same turn (it had received a front arc shot on the previous turn), then killed a Space Whale in the next turn. I think the ACMs are even better than Expanded Launchers, especially when you have Screed. 1 Jut reacted to this
DrakonLord 751 Posted January 31, 2017 When i read "quantity is its own quality" i thiught of two things... Firstly on the imperial side you could have 16 tie fighter squadrons..... ....but then i though screw that, rebels could have 19 Z-95 headhunter squadrons! 1 Teloch reacted to this
Teloch 148 Posted January 31, 2017 I was thinking: ISD mk II + SW& x3 with Motti. Enough hull to ignore squadrons and brute force your way to victory
