Silver Crane 199 Posted September 18, 2015 (edited) In a moment. I still have a mod to roll Adding second Deflection mod to my Lorrdian Crystal: 2eA+2eP+1eB+1eF+2eD 1 success, 3 advantage, 1 Dark Side I'll update my character sheet tonight to reflect this mod as well.... Seifer finally finishes his meditation and stand up and stretches. "There are seven forms of lightsaber combat, each with their own philosophy. Form I, Shii-Choo, is the most.... I hesitate to say basic as that would diminish it. Let us say it is the most straightforward. It lays the foundation upon which all other forms build upon. Jonas is a practitioner of this form. Form II is perhaps the most elegant form, but it is very narrow in it's approach to the lightsaber being dedicated to on-on-one dueling almost exclusively. Form IV, Ataru is a form that is the most mobile, blending acrobatics and impressive leaps into into it's blade work, but it's defense is somewhat.... lacking. Form VI, Niman, is sometimes referred to as the diplomat's form. It blends usage of the Force more seamlessly into combat. Xan's knowledge of Niman surpasses that of Jonas or myself. Form VII, Juyo is perhaps the most aggressive of all the lightsaber forms. It aims to overwhelm opponents with multiple, fast strikes. There are not many who can practice such a form and avoid the perils of the Dark Side." Edited September 18, 2015 by Silver Crane

FCastor 81 Posted September 18, 2015 (edited) "Now that? That is a bit more complicated," Jonas says softly, clearing his throat. "It would have even been not quite that simple a couple of decades ago when there still was a Jedi Order. You see, you would have been considered a bit too old to undertake the training needed. But now? Age has little to do with it if anything. The main... shall we say... hitch would be that there is no Order anymore." He sighs and shrugs. "Revan made certain of that." "Still," he adds then with a chuckle as he gives Xan a sidelong glance, "this man here appears to be determined to bring it all back singlehandedly. So, brighten up. You may still get your chance, friend." Edited September 18, 2015 by FCastor
ColonelCommissar 1,243 Posted September 18, 2015 Kovin looks initially downcast by this revelation, before he brightens up. He claps Xan on the shoulder. "Well then, master, I guess we'd better get to work!" he laughs. "In all seriousness though, perhaps once we get off-world you could teach me a few of the ways of the Jedi." awayputurwpn 7,720 Posted September 18, 2015 (edited) The party talked well into night, and they set up shifts for watching. The morning came, red with angry-looking clouds in the distance. Spending a Dark Side Destiny Point...it's a rain storm, folks! Please add 2 Setback to all checks today. There would be rain coming soon, if the sunrise was any indication. The river's flow rate was already starting to pick up, and there were swirling eddies visible on the surface of the once-calm stream. The water stood in the way of their path, and extended in either direction as far as the group could tell. They knew that crossing now would be the most advisable route. You may attempt to cross the river now—I'd need three Average () Athletics checks from three people (this check is exempt from the two setbacks mentioned above), each of which will represent a two-peron team crossing the river—or you can cross it later, but that could make things considerably more dangerous. Let me know what you'd like to do, and we'll proceed! You can simply make an Athletics check, and let me know who you're taking with you. ColonelCommissar 1,243 Posted September 18, 2015 Kovin turns to Maya. "I'm the strongest, along with Seifer and Jonas. I'll carry you. Can you guys keep up though?" he grins. River crossing: 1eP+1eA+2eD 0 successes What do 0 successes translate into?
Silver Crane 199 Posted September 18, 2015 (edited) I'll attempt to help Firan across. Helping Firan across the river: 2eA+1eP+2eD 0 successes or not.... Edited September 18, 2015 by Silver Crane
awayputurwpn 7,720 Posted September 18, 2015 Sorry, forgot to mention, throw in a Boost die since it's two of you together. Strength in numbers, and all that...which is the reason you're taking it two by two. Kovin: fix: 1eB 0 successes Seifer: fix: 1eB 1 success, 1 advantage Kovin and Maya landed on the other side, winded and soaking wet. Seifer and Firan overtook them as they swam, and helped them up onto the far bank. The price for Failure is that Kovin and Maya suffer 2 strain apiece. What would Seifer/Firan like to do with the 1 Advantage from the boost die?
FCastor 81 Posted September 18, 2015 As the others manage to make it to the other side, Jonas prepares for his and Xan's turn by reaching into the Force to strengthen himself. Still, what answers back feels... wrong. Cold and shadowy. It offers power, yes, but perhaps a bit too eagerly, too easily. It is tempting, but he chooses to trust into himself and his own strength after all. It appears to be the right decision to make. I will be using Enhance to roll a Force die alongside the Athletics checks, while also adding the Boost die due to being two of us trying to cross. Athletics: 1eF+1eB+1eP+2eA+2eD 3 successes, 2 advantage, 1 Dark Side I will not be using the Dark Side point as it is not really needed. Not sure what the 2 Advantages can be used on at the moment. Any suggestions?
Silver Crane 199 Posted September 18, 2015 Well I was gonna use the boost Firan and I generated, for you, but apparently not....
ColonelCommissar 1,243 Posted September 18, 2015 Kovin is relieved to have made it to the far side, especially as the waters rise noticeably even as they drag themselves onto dry land. He is soaked and miserable, but at least he and Maya are safe. "Now then, we'd best get moving. We'll dry out soon enough! Who's leading?"
awayputurwpn 7,720 Posted September 18, 2015 The difficulty going ahead will be Hard () Survival check (I will also be spending a Destiny Point, since there is plenty to go wrong). Don't forget the double setbacks for the coming rain storm. The 3 Advantage (total) from the Athletics checks can be spent to add two Boost dice to the next Brawn- or Agility-related skill check made by the group, as a sort of morale bonus for camaraderie and confidence in each other's abilities. kaosoe 7,573 Posted September 18, 2015 Maya gratefully took Kovin's offer of assistance. Together, they made it across the stream, but they were a little worse for the wear. I think we were wanting to save Kovin's awesome survival skills for the last leg. So I suppose Maya will go next. I'll flip a DP for an upgrade, and I don't think Kovin will mind lending his survival gear to her. Maya offered to take the lead this time. She was eager to impress Kovin and show everyone how good of a teacher he was. So she took Kovin's compass and set off towards the direction of the temple. Survival Check: 2eA+1eP+2eD+1eC+2eB+2eS 1 success, 2 threat Wow. What a role. 1 ColonelCommissar reacted to this
ColonelCommissar 1,243 Posted September 18, 2015 (edited) Zelt shook off his pelt as he dragged himself from the river. He looked a sorry mess, and caused the others to groan and then laugh as he shook himself off, spraying water everywhere. Kovin beamed with pride at Maya - what he had taught her, even in a short time, had been taken in with ease and skill. He set off confidently to follow her, Zelt padding beside him. I need to pay attention to that darn tusk cat! Also, that was an amazing roll... awayputurwpn 7,720 Posted September 18, 2015 The group made decent enough time, even in the heavy wind and rain (which showed no sign of letting up). At the end of the day, they had covered what they estimated to be about 11 miles of waterlogged jungle and flat plains, but even here in the hollow made by some ancient tree roots, there was no lighting a fire in this squal. There were no animals in sight to hunt, and the roots and berries from the trip had really only been enough to sustain them during the journey. It was looking to be a long, miserable night. At this point, it's getting dark. You have no food for dinner unless you'd like to try and go hunting now. I will flip a Destiny Point to upgrade any attempts at hunting or scavenging. You may use skills that are different from Survival. I'll also allow the Togruta's Assistance ability to be used specifically in hunting applications (not gathering, not fishing), which can be more dangerous but also more profitable. Korro Zal 54 Posted September 19, 2015 (edited) "Thanks, Jonas, for your help in crossing the river," Xan says. Well, I probably can't negotiate the prey to sacrifice themselves for dinner, and I can't hunt with a lightsaber, so I'm not that much use here. Could I make a Cool check to crouch silently and patiently wait for prey to come? Say, as an assist to someone else's hunting check? awayputurwpn 7,720 Posted September 19, 2015 Could I make a Cool check to crouch silently and patiently wait for prey to come? Say, as an assist to someone else's hunting check? You can totally make a Hard (upgraded once) Assisted Cool check. That is a great skill for hunting. You'd just need someone to go along with you with a weapon that is capable of hunting. Remember the 2 setbacks for the weather!

Korro Zal 54 Posted September 19, 2015 Xan stops to consider Firan's proposal, trying to recall if Vodo or Orielle had ever said anything about survival techniques that would indicate a problem with the plan. Coming up with nothing, he shrugs. "Okay," he says, "I'm in."
awayputurwpn 7,720 Posted September 19, 2015 (edited) Difficulty is for the Assisted Cool check, please! This is all that is necessary for the hunting. (if you changed your mind and want to use a different skill, that's cool too, just let me know what you wanna do and I'll give you the difficulty) Edited September 19, 2015 by awayputurwpn
Korro Zal 54 Posted September 19, 2015 (edited) Cool: 2eA+1eP+1eC+2eS+2eC 1 failure, 1 advantage, 2 Despair Xan finds that his meager knowledge of survival lore is insufficient to help Firan. awayputurwpn 7,720 Posted September 19, 2015 Okay, let's reroll that please It's an assisted check, so Xan and Firan get the benefit of each other's assistance. That means a Boost die for unskilled assistance, since both PCs have the same ranks in Cool and Firan's Presence rating is lower than Xan's. Sorry, it's just a little too messy for my liking Please reroll against the same difficulty, and be sure to make it an Assisted Check. This is for waiting patiently together in a place designed for good hunting, and this is the only check you'll be making for this hunting expedition. Success will determine what (if anything) you bring back to feed the crew. In light of this knowledge, you may choose to spend a Destiny Point (if you wish) to upgrade the check.
