FCastor 81 Posted January 26, 2016 As Jonas tries to use the Force to strengthen himself and avoid falling, what answers back is not the Light Side, but the Dark. And despite it being a cold and shadowy thing, or at the very least that is how he perceives it, it is nevertheless inviting. It promises success or at the very least the absence of failure. And it is indeed tempting. Getting buried by the sand is not something he is looking forward to. Still, one time of giving in to the Dark Side is one time too many. His answer is no. And he falls. Athletics: 1eF+1eB+1eP+2eA+3eD 1 failure, 1 advantage, 1 Dark Side

awayputurwpn 7,720 Posted January 27, 2016 Xan, trying his utmost to stay on his feet, found a large bit of rock to plant his feet on. But Firan was accidentally jostled by the attempt (two Threat on Xan's check), and pitched forward. Coordination: 4eA+1eC+2eD+1eS 1 success, 2 threatThe Mandalorian grabbed onto Xan and, using him as a counterweight, perched precariously on the rocky outcropping opposite the Jedi. Xan and Firan now had hold of each other, but that was all either could manage at the moment. It was all Xan could do to use the Force to arrest Maya's momentum, but only for a moment—was it enough? Xan and Firan are momentarily halted from any further actions while they are keeping each other from falling into the sandslide. Maya, Jonas, Seifer, or Kovin may now act—what would you like to try and do? Attempts to save Maya will receive a Boost die, but this option must be taken quickly or be lost. Jonas, Maya, and Seifer are also in the position to make an Assisted check (either all three, or any two, of them), should they wish to do so.
ColonelCommissar 1,243 Posted January 28, 2016 Kovin's eyes dart frantically around the sinking pit of sand, desperate to save Maya as she slips ever further away from him. Suddenly, he feels something call to him. This Force perhaps? Could it do that? No matter, he thinks, as he turns to face its call and sees - what? He's shocked, but there's definitely a vine growing up from beneath him. He can't fathom it. How in all this empty desert could - no. There isn't time. He reaches out, grabs onto it, and wraps it once-twice-three times around his arm, anchoring himself to whatever is holding it in place. He makes firm the rope about his arm. There's no time to consider now. No time to think, to consider if taking a vine of uncertain length, strength and provenance and using it to anchor himself is the best idea. There's no time, and he has a life to save. So instead of thinking he simply leaps out into the void, plunging down the sliding sand walls with a simple cry of "Maya!" She looks up, seeing him coming, and he prays to the Force for what it's worth that she thinks to reach out to him. And that he can make it. Survival check: 2eP+1eA+1eB+1eC+2eD 3 successes, 1 threat We're good people! We're good! What's the threat going on? "Don't worry, I've got you!" he grabs the struggling girl's arm in a deadlock grip. "You're not going anywhere."
kaosoe 7,573 Posted January 28, 2016 Is Seifer and Jonas falling in? If so, could I utilize the vine and use Bind to pull one up? I don't have the upgrade to move objects around, but I figured I would pitch it to the GM and see if it's worth a shot?
awayputurwpn 7,720 Posted January 28, 2016 You can Bind one of them, sure! That would be excellent. Just remember you have to roll light side pips to not hurt them...and to use light side pips, you need a Destiny Point... For the Threat rolled, I'm going to require Kovin to make an Easy Athletics check to maintain his hold on both Maya and the vine. Spending another Dark Side Destiny Point to upgrade the Difficulty. That's 1eC.
ColonelCommissar 1,243 Posted January 29, 2016 (edited) Flipping a Destiny point back again! Athletics Check: 2eP+1eC 0 successes, 1 advantage Kovin feels his grip slipping. "Oh that's not good," he thinks, as he feels his wrist straining on the vine. Edited January 29, 2016 by ColonelCommissar
awayputurwpn 7,720 Posted January 29, 2016 Okay, before we resolve Kovin's action, let's have Maya's Bind attempt and any actions from Jonas and Seifer.
kaosoe 7,573 Posted January 29, 2016 (edited) I'm going to make an assumption here; perhaps the vine/root thing is longer or more malleable than we think. Maya held on for her life, oblivious to Kovin's own struggle. She quickly scanned around and saw Seifer and Jonas struggling in the falling sand. The young Togruta closed her eyes and concentrated on her desire to help Bind: 3eF 5 Dark Side Dang. I was hoping this would be a pivotal moment for Maya, and turned out it kind of is, just not in the way I was hoping/expecting. I really had to think for a good while on what Maya would do. The vine in Kovin's hand began to lengthen and quickly slithered to Jonas. As it did so, memories of their last conversation trickled through her mind. Reminding her of her own resentment. It was an easy thing to use the anger she felt. The root responded by coiling around Jonas' torso like a constricting serpent. I got you! she grunted, even now struggling to concentrate on her tenuous hold on Jonas. It's GM's call on how much conflict that was worth. awayputurwpn 7,720 Posted January 29, 2016 (edited) I think you only had to spend/activate 1 Force point, correct? So that's just worth 1 piddly conflict. Nothing Maya can't handle Jonas takes 1 wound as well. Jonas, Seifer? Edited January 29, 2016 by awayputurwpn
FCastor 81 Posted January 30, 2016 How far is Seifer from Jonas? With Maya having grabbed hold of him, can Jonas reach Seifer or is the other Jedi too far away?
awayputurwpn 7,720 Posted January 30, 2016 (edited) You are all (Seifer, Jonas, Maya, and Kovin) currently engaged, but that could change very quickly at the rate you're moving. Edited January 30, 2016 by awayputurwpn
Silver Crane 199 Posted January 31, 2016 I'd like to try to make an athletic check to get grab onto Jonas.
FCastor 81 Posted January 31, 2016 Letting out a small grunt of pain as the vine constricts him, but still thankful enough to actually manage a smile of appreciation towards Maya, Jonas then turns his attention to Seifer as he attempts to grab hold of the other Jedi. Athletics check? Difficulty?
awayputurwpn 7,720 Posted February 2, 2016 (edited) Since you're attempting the same thing, it'll be an Assisted Hard Athletics check (with 1 Setback). It looks like you guys are tied for skill & characteristic, so it'd be unskilled assistance. If Jonas makes the check, he can use the Enhance power alongside the check. I'll also spend a Destiny Point to upgrade the Difficulty once. So the negative dice in the pool are 1eC+2eD+1eS. awayputurwpn 7,720 Posted February 2, 2016 (edited) At this time, Kovin will also have to decide whether to let go of Maya or the vine, or else suffer 4 strain. Edited February 2, 2016 by awayputurwpn
ColonelCommissar 1,243 Posted February 2, 2016 Kovin grits his teeth and holds on to the vine, his grip on Maya holding steady. He feels the muscles of his arms burn but does not let up. He smiles down at Maya, then turns his head back to the others. "I could really use some help right now," he grins. 1 awayputurwpn reacted to this

FCastor 81 Posted February 4, 2016 As he strains to reach Seifer, Jonas once again calls on the Force to strengthen him and provide assistance. And this time it answers. In fact it is the only thing that tips the balance, allowing the Jedi to grab hold of the other man's hand securely. "Come on Seifer. Almost there!" awayputurwpn 7,720 Posted February 4, 2016 The sand whipped around the string of humans and Togruta, blasting them with its roughness, coating them, and filling their clothes. Finally, the torrent abated and there could be seen a cavernous opening some 50 meters down a steep, sandy slope that had been formed by the sand falling into this sudden hole in the ground. Kovin's arms were burning with intensity now. Xan and Firan managed to right themselves and stood together on the rocky precipice, gazing down into the massive artificial gulley. Sand was still settling, and there was a haze of dust in the air, but they too could see the opening at the bottom of the sandslide. It looked like a tunnel made by hand or machine, carved out of the same sort of rock on which they stood, and of which the tooth-like pillars towering above them were also made. ColonelCommissar 1,243 Posted February 5, 2016 Kovin exhales with relief as the flow of sand slackens, though his arm still burns from the pain of clinging on to the vine. It only takes him a few seconds to decide where to go next. "Come on!" he calls back up to the others on the slope. "Let's go down and take a look!" he grins, then turns back to Maya. "I'm going to let go. Are you ready?" he lets the vine go, tumbling down the sandy slope in a spray of sand and roar of laughter. He comes up short against the top of the stone tunnel, nearly falling in thanks to his momentum before Maya catches him. He looks down into the dark. "Anyone got a light?" kaosoe 7,573 Posted February 5, 2016 Maya too released her hold on Jonas, allowing him to glide down to solid ground where her and Kovin were already waiting. She was going to thank Kovin in turn, but he seemed ready to continue their adventure. Maya failed to hide her grin.
