I can't decide if I want to pick Destroy the Sith or Overthrow the Empire as a Motivation. I'd prefer the Sith if it makes sense because it's more personal but overthrow the empire works just fine too.

Here's a first rough cut of my character background.  It's still flexible if anyone has any ideas for hooks for improvements.

Wes, 5’10” with a slight build and short sandy hair, wishes he could forget he was once a Jedi Padawan.

It would have made his life much easier.  Instead he had to contend with his natural and trained sense of discipline and duty to the larger good.
But there was nothing to do about it and Wes tried to accept it: his selfishness and guile would get him into trouble and his sense of duty would get him into even more trouble.
That was why his Jedi Master had chosen him as an apprentice.  His good heart, focus and discipline.  And a willingness to work outside the rules to get things done.
All of this made Wes an ideal candidate to train as a Jedi Sentinel: a peacekeeper working in the shadows.
Wes was coming along in his training and he'd hoped to take the Trials within the year.  His master showed enough confidence (or were the Jedi desperate enough?) so send him alone on an undercover mission to Nar Shaddaa to find out if a particular Hutt was helping the Separatists with supplies and information.
When Order 66 destroyed the Jedi Order, Wes was safely tucked away on Nar Shaddaa and when he received Master Kenobi’s secret encoded message to all surviving Jedi he decided to stay a while.
Now that the Sith had returned a Sentinel’s duty was more important than ever.  But the task was too impossible and Wes had not completed his training.  So he moved on.
He kept mostly to the outer rim and made the best use of his training as he could - helping out local marshals investigate crimes.  Or helping struggling towns folk find and “acquire” needed equipment and goods.  Before it was time to move on again.  Mostly he took any odd job that would keep him fed for another few months.
His dreary life changed when he learned his older sibling was not dead and may be in danger.  With renewed purpose Wes set out to find his long lost sibling and found more than he’d hoped for - not just family but a way to strike back in some small way against the Empire and the Sith that had taken everything from him.

I'm gonna leave that up to you and your backstory. By this period in the Galactic Civil War, being involved in the Rebellion certainly gives you an excuse as to knowing of Darth Vader. Remember Princess Leia's opening line: "Darth Vader. Only you would be so bold." So there can be made the assumption that the Empire is, at the very least, Sith-friendly. And there's the fact that they've eradicated the Jedi, so that'll give you a clue as well.

However, I would count the knowledge of the Emperor's being a Sith Lord as being rather "secret," so I don't know if your PC would know that off the bat.

Hey guys,

Here's the general jist for rewards:

Rebels (those with Duty) benefit from a Base + 1 upgrade (please choose an upgrade before we begin).

EotE Characters (those with Obligation) benefit from a Business (please decide on any starting upgrades before we begin...anything is possible with Obligation!).

FaD Character (those with only Morality) benefit from a Mentor bonus, when they spend their 50 additional XP, they can count their Basic Force Powers as 5 XP cheaper.

If you have two resources (Duty + Morality, etc) please only choose one to benefit from. The mentor bonus is nice to start with, but the base/business is a more solid investment going forward. Just sayin.

Not necessarily.  I would probably like to see the mechanics of the character first, but it isn't necessary.

By the sounds of it, he would be more of a droid builder/engineer than mechanic, especially if he is trying to make droids more personable to Wookies and non-humanoid aliens.

We may want to consider a either LOM droid or something as one of the "NPCs" if we go that route, since the LOM droids were designed for insect aliens like Gand and Verpine.

As for working together, it was not uncommon for Wookie Slaves to be brought to various shipyard as manual labor, especially where muscle is concerned.  I wouldn't be surprised if Gralrrau and Sal worked in the same shipyards for story convenience.

Interesting. That could work well in the business.

This afternoon, I'll post a modified suggestion of how to integrate a fledgling rebel base into the Hutt-run business.I really think this could work well.

That's a good idea.

Sarone's character, Sal, has a Duty to the Rebellion, so that could serve as tie-in.

I don't know.  My character isn't exactly old, maybe around twenty-five for a Mon Cal.  Then again, if you were a passenger or working on Dac, then you could have been part of the Rebellion there.

Actually, according to Legends, Vader was pretty widely known to be a Force user/Sith.  However, he had proven his "loyalty to the Empire" and was the Emperor's right hand man.  Hence why he was so widely feared and respected.

Heck, it helped drive the rest of the Jedi underground, especially after killing "50 Jedi" at Kessel, I believe.

Ok, I'll forgo the Mentor and pick the base as a starting resource.

Maybe someday I can use the base upgrades/resources to help get my hands on a lightsaber crystal....=)

I don't know.  A Mentor can be helpful to not just you but the other Jedi.  But that's up to you.

I'd very careful with the lightsaber, as those are not uncommon.  That being said, being able to dissemble it and reassemble it can be to your advantage.

As for the last part, about learning your brother was alive, that could be due to other sources.  It wasn't uncommon for Jedi to receive visions, especially of potentially traumatic events in the future.  In addition, it could also be a distance situation.  If we do indeed start on Nar Shaddaa/Nal Hutta, then your "brother" could have been an ornament for a Hutt or something.  In this case, being on the same planet could result in both of you reconnecting again.

My apologies for the long post, spent the day with family.

Either can be good to have.  However, I believe I should point out that being frozen in Carbonite might put you out of the Rebelion, at least for a little while.

If nothing else, it'll be like playing Captain America, waking up to find out the galaxy has gone to pot and there's a bounty out for Jedi and such.

As for Force Powers, it is hard to say.  Both sides of the coin has their advantages, especially if it is a power that can be extremely helpful.

Going for powers will let you be able to level more of them as you go.  This way you can tweak as the campaign goes and you can level up powers that are useful while having a back up.

Meanwhile, being focused means starting off with a more powerful ability, but it could hamstring you if it is either used too much or not enough.

So many options, but those Duty ones are very enticing! Some questions, could I purchase a non-riding beast pet of sorts? I've set aside 2750 of my starting credits for the purchase of beasts but I'm not sure what options aside from the riding beasts in Stay on Target might be available to me.  Perhaps a Massiff or some other silhouette 0-1 animal (cant force bond Silhouette 1 yet, 20xp more, but you dont have to force bond a dog to have a bond I would think).

Considered getting the hangar upgrade and putting a bantha in it but may not be very useful except for that blue milk :D.

I like how the groups rounding out, and the jedi brother being found frozen in carbonite is an nice touch.

I would allow you to initiate an animal bond with a cub/pup, and we can treat it as 1 Silhouette smaller for the time being. There are rules on page 415 to cover it. We'd just have to come up with stats for the Massiff, or decide on another creature that might be easily found or purchased on Nar Shaddaa (or else just wait for the opportunity during an adventure, get an animal for free!).

Is there a specific type of animal you're after? If you're looking for ideas among existing stat blocks, you can check out this online index: http://swrpg.viluppo.net/adversaries/creatures/

Massiff actually do have stats on pg.138 of Lords of Nal Hutta, that being said after scanning over Suns of Fortune I realized I had missed so many animals.  I'm pretty enchanted by the Wrix personally and it fits the flavor of an arena if we are running one.  However a Juvenile of the species is still a formidable foe despite its Silhouette 0 and halved wounds/strain/damage.

You could always go for a nexu.  It's like a kitty on steroids and trained by The Arnold.

I like your idea of Wes and Sal meeting on Dac.

Yeah, Mentor is really cool - and it would save me 10XP so far - but I also like the idea of investing more in the base and cementing Wes' relationship with the Alliance a little more.

A force vision to find Rakaydos' character could also work well.  Or the Alliance could have found him (in the shop) and called my character in to evaluate.
