So many people want prequel ships (not me), but they never mention the coolest ship that ever came from the prequels:

If FFG did this, they'd murder my wallet - I'd want 30 of them for epic play! Seriously though, Imagine how a swarm of 10 of these in a regular game would look - I think it'd be one heck of a daunting sight!

You know the issue though no one wants to be the separatist faction.

And since tarkin came out its very clear the republic ships would go to the empire and droids would go to rebels.

Now that may seem backwards but there's no way the emperor could use those droid forces having just led a war against them without questions being asked.

It's better to just keep everything prequel related out of x-wing.

Somewhere in the Outerrim there's an old Imperial Venator SD (or better yet an Acclamator II frigate) with aging V-19s just waiting to crush the rebellion. Who needs TIEs! If only...

Yes but that's gone and new canon shows rebels using separatist control ships and droid fighters and imperial forces using the arc and v-wing.

 

Everybody wants the republic ships for the rebels but it makes no sense from a lore perspective, the empire is shown to use droids sparingly.

The Predator card artwork would like to have a word with you:

Both of which are very obviously in the artwork, and both of which are flying Rebel colors. So not all hope is lost!

I'd lay 20:1 on prequel ships being rep/sep factions and not shoehorned into the existing ones, though.

Well, now that Sub-Factions are a thing, we very well could see FFG releasing Sep/Rep units as Subfactions.

 

Heck, it could be that the Resistance is actually a break off of the Rebellion with Separatist sympathizers at the helm...

Nah, the subfaction is a "same crit, different name" thing, the rep/sep split is a bit more distinct than that.
