Blocking a lightsaber with your hand. Tutaminis abilities

There's a scene in SWTOR where a Jedi blocks a lightsaber attack with her hand, Tutaminis (force abilities for energy absorption). Would this just be the protect power, what career and specialisation would be suitable?

 

 

Would love to make a force user that uses force and his own abilities and not a fancy glow stick with super power gem

Maybe you could also use the force to push the saber away from you.

That's basically the view I had of Yoda and Palpatine: If you have a high enough mastery of the force you stop using lighstabers alltogether and only wield the force. For a powerfull ally it is.

(Then the prequels ruined that for me...)

There's also a talent you can commit FR into to increase your soak...

Compared to lightsaber crystals? The game just doesn't have much wiggle room past Rarity 10.

That looks like the Protect power to me. Ye olde Absorb/Dissipate Energy power.

Protect encompasses the Tutaminis ability, absolutely. The power is broader in scope than simple energy absorption, but it totally works for what Satele Shan does up top there, as well as Corran Horn's signature ability of Legend.

One other thing to remember is Satele there is pretty **** powerful.  She goes on to become head of the Jedi Order during a period of The Old Republic where force users were much more common.  She's certainly got protect tricked out, and a LOT of force dice behind that hand.

And even then, the damage one does take narratively could be from the rest of the combat; just that one particlar time she turned a fatal blow into a inconvience since a single dice roll is meant to reflect a scene's worth of fighting rather then a single strike.
