Someone has a Raider

Recommended Posts

Wait, these guys are in Texas... how did they get their hands on this ship?  I guess this means the Raiders will be for sale at Gencon.

Amazon says they will start shipping July 31st... so despite the lack of update it appears the raiders have already arrived(1st wave of them anyway)

1) Amazon is not to be trusted, they've yet to get one date right that I know of, it's always pushed back.

2) It's supplied by FunAgainGames and they have it now as released on Aug 14th. see 1) above

<p>

The dial is revealed at 4:30 in the video.1-4 straight, 1 & 2 banks.3 energy for all the 1s and the 2 straight. 2 energy for the 2 banks and the 3-4 straights.

So, the same as the CR-90, except:
  • Gains the 1-straight with 3 energy
  • 4 straight has 2 energy instead of 1

Sounds like the dial is roughly twice as good.

The Huge ships are in such a weird spot with their dials. There are, what, 8 manuvers possible? You can't make a dial missing more than 1 or 2 manuvers or else the whole ship becomes incredibly difficult to use.

So the biggest differences between Huge dials has to be the amount of energy available in a given maneuver. But even then the dial can't be too limited- or else the Huge ship will be too energy starved. And if it's too generous, there is no point in creating a limiting mechanic at all.

Plus, the dial has to account for the firing arc of a ship.

I wish the Huge ships had more interesting dials, or interesting energy generation mechanics, but I don't know that it's going to be possible at this point.

The dials provide more than movement. It applies the simulated simultaneous movement along with the maneuvering controls as well as provide a bit of unknown (unless you're an arc dodger). There is a management control mechanic tied in withe the maneuver dials. For all regular ships the maneuver dial is about stress management where for epic ships it is about energy management.

Now you are right the maneuvers on huge ships are Extremely limited, especially when you compare them to something like Armada where a CR-90 can out run a B-wing. However given the limited play space that Epic has it is clear why the maneuvers have to be that limited.

I wants it.

I want to hug it and squeeze it and call it Indefatigable.

Very good. Carry on, Mister Hornblower.

;)

It'll do until there's an actual Frigate. :P.

The Brits have the best ship names.

This is utterly true.

Exhibit a: HMS Warspite.

Case closed.:)

Part 2:

New info is the title cards and a new 1 point huge only crew, Shield Technician, which he neglected to read the text for.

Assailer:
"When defending, if the target section has a Reinforce token you may change one Focus Result to an Evade Result."

Impetous:
"After you perform an attack that destroys an enemy ship you may acquire a target lock."

Instigator:
"After you perform a Recover Action you may recover one additional shield."

The damage deck seems to be very similar to the CR90 if not identical.

Is Impetous huge ship only?
