An elegant weapon...

Not the silliest stance we've seen in Star Wars.

Obi-Wan in RotS does a ready stance where the blade isn't that far from his face, and he actually passes the blade pretty close to the fingers of his off-hand as he adopts that stance.

Okay, if we're doing this, my personal issue with jedi pictures is where they're busy deflecting blaster bolts that wouldn't hit them. Like that Obi-Wan picture in the preview. I can't look at it without thinking "he doesn't need to block bolts that are flying a foot to the side of him". Yes, yes, I get the idea that maybe there's someone out of shot behind him who he's protecting. But lets be honest here - there isn't.

Drives me nuts.

Unless of course you are picking up stray bolts to send them back to the firer... though is that even likely mechanically or is it just deflecting it all willy nilly and endangering pedestrians more than the original shot?

It's near certain; the opponent missed and rolled 3 Threat or a Despair, and assuming Obi-Wan has Improved Reflect (which as a Soresu Master, he would).

"Here!  You missed with these, let me send them back to you so you can try again...oops, forgot that it doesn't work that way."

Let's not forget how he extends two fingers, for no discernible reason other than to let his opponent cut them off.

It's actually a Tai qi stance.  The reason having something to do with Qi Flow.  So while it looks weird to our eyes, it is a legitimate swordsmanship stance.  You'll see the same thing a lot in Wuxia and various Chinese historical movies.

A tai-chi sword has a flat blade. A lightsabre is 360 degrees of edge.

EDIT: You may be talking about sticking two fingers up at your opponent, rather than the picture. I'm not sure.

I don't understand the people who find a stock lightsaber overpowering.  A Heavy with a heavy repeater is way scarier then a lightsaber.  Sure a saber has breach, but the average mook only has a soak of 2 to 4, so most of that breach is wasted.  Any old piercing weapon is almost as good, and have the potential to do more damage on a strong character.

Now you can mod a saber into something truly disgusting, but you can do that with a vibro axe or heavy gun as well.

In our current campaign our marauder would destroy my Jedi.

Not a lack of interest. More a statement that most people's problems seem to be their of their own creation.

Well yes, that's been true through the entirety of human history. I hadn't realized you were so new to this planet.

It doesn't really change the fact that the issue is really on people going overboard interpreting the 'issue' vs the actual existence of said issue.

Overboard? Why? I commented on how it was a stance suited for a short, stabbing sword such as a gladius, whilst the weapon was actually a long sweeping-style blade. What's the big deal that people commenting on this is a problem for anyone? An interest in swords is an "issue" now?

I could not care less about the stance thing. My comment was in regard to people creating problems with lightsabers and making them out to be worse than they actually are. Especially when they are actually weaker than the +5 Vorpal weapons we were used to in EotE and AoR.

I agree. Heaven forbid that a beginning character doesn't get to start play with an AutoWin Glowstick of Death.

I figured your Mountains -> Molehills thing was about the comments on the artwork. Impossible to tell without quotes. And yes, I agree that Lightsabres are not that deadly. Well not by themselves. Add in a pile of Talents and they can be, but then that's as it should be.

I cant wait to play my next character concept: an engineer who accidentally found a lightsaber, managed to restore it and now uses it . . . as a fusion cutter and/or bulkhead welder. She has zero force potential, no idea what she has, what it can do and is otherwise clueless that her awesome and functional tool is really a Glowstick Win Device.

In her hands, it'll be crazy deadly at opening cans and locked things.

Why can I not "like" this more than once?  Will have to make do with gratuitous quotation...

And now I know how my group will find their first lightsabre. Persuading the engineer to part with her handy gadget will be a challenge in itself. Nice one.

Pictures are just awesome XD

One question, Attachmens difficulty can be reduced by 2 if you modify your own lightsaber, but, with lightsaber crystal mods (where you can add Force Rating) also reduces difficulty by 2 or this only applies to attachmens but not to mods?

Thanks!
