Don't Hate Me For This.....

Back to topic: It just seems that screwing around with different species and trying to "maximize" stats (get as high stats as I can with 2 as a minimum attribute) that I seem to get more or less the same end result across the board. So unless I really missed something, all characters are basically the same and it will really only make a difference on how you play and what career appeals to you. Raising attributes through talent trees: You must go through multiple trees to improve multiple attributes or once you get there can you purchase them multiple times?

Pretty much correct on all points. Some species offer something that other species can never get (like Falleen pheromones) but generally just about every species is viable for every build even if some are slightly better or worse than others.

It's not the weirdest thread hijack ever, but it's still weird.

And I had absolutely nothing to do with it... for once!

Keep trying, the thread's still young.

Young? Is that some sort of swipe at the OP's age since his name is, "Old Stromtrooper"? How old are you?* I bet I'm older then you are, but still kicking even though I've eaten my share of bacon*. I like pie* too, but could still kick Chuck Norris's* arse one-handed without spilling my favorite brand of beer*.

*Best thread-derailers I could think of at the moment.

ETA: @Old Stormtrooper - Sorry for more derailment.

ETA: @Happy Daze - Just having fun of course.

I'm offline (in the middle of no-where with zero wi-fi) for 5 days,,, *facepalm* I feel so lost...  I only raised one Characteristic,,, and then placed all the XP in skills based on his backstory, some skills sucked, even for a Pilot... 2 players only meant 20 Obligation each so a good chance it would affect one of us each session... I still took another 5 Ob for the C1000 just to cover refuelling and docking fees even before we started.

No problem. At least it keeps the thread interesting. FWI: I'm 45. You are only young once, but you can be immature forever!

That's kinda what I'm talking about. It's difficult to "stand out" from everybody else. Starting out, Luke was "the best bush pilot in the Outer Rim". Yes, that's storyline and he was (at least in my mind) trying to live up to his father's legacy as a great pilot. I'm not saying that every PC should be a "Luke", but there should be some "natural" talent/ability/attribute that makes the PC more unique/special than the average Greedo.

You can either focus on been specialised or well rounded.

4 or 5 in a stat and a couple levels of a skill is all you need to stand out. Although personally two green, one yellow and a blue or two seem to get me though most things with minimal issues.

Starkiller (From force unleashed) started his game with about 150 XP after character creation, (Extremely specialised in being a force wizard- FR3, but no lightning yet) and ended the game at about 300 XP or so. (FR4 and a full move tree gives "throw a star destroyer" on a good roll and a destiny point)

If everyone in the party wants to play a badass, talk to the GM about starting as more than a newbie character. Talents really are what make you badass, not just rolling more dice.
