Report on the post-Endor events

Recommended Posts

Yeah though most of the superweapon craze was focused in Dark Empire and the Kevin J Anderson books. Outside of those I only remember a couple of superweapons and a few very powerful ships that were just stronger then normal ships not superweapons.

And I still think that access to Anoat and exit from it being successfully blocked for more then a week or two makes absolutely no sense.

The comments on that article about The Resistance being a different entity than the New Republic are pretty intriguing.

Yeah, I want that to be true sovery badly.

Also! I love the _fact_ of a New Republic- even if it's short lived. It means space for a lot of the Legends stuff to be brought in without too much disruption.

I'm kinda hoping for a throwaway line in one of the post-Jedi stories about Thrawn dying in some random way. It would be enough to honor his existence, explain why he's not around, and give room for other stories to breath.

Kinda the same with Mara Jade. Both those characters had a _huge_ impact on the EU, and bringing them into the new canon would be difficult to do smoothly. Killing them off around the time of Jedi would be a good way to honor them without making them as pivotal as they would have to be.

It would also be a nice way to signal that the EU was an alt history of Star Wars. Giving Thrawn his own freaking _timeline_ would definitely be an honor. :)

I remember some of the first rumors talking about a Cold War situation. So, the Resistence probably isn't technically the NR. They just get all their resources from them.

Looks promising in my opinion. The EU ideas about post-Endor events never really sat well with me. I got tired of the "super-weapon of the week" trotted out by Imperial remnants and just quit paying attention.

I don't understand why everyone thinks most of the EU was this. That was like 2 authors in the 5 most hated SW books. There's plenty of quality stuff in the EU.

After reading through it I noticed nothing was diffrent in these so called new event vs Legends.  The only new is material made for a couple of many battles that took place during the civil war.  I shouldnt be shocked though about this since Legends are secondary canon.

There many articals about SW Legends material still being canon its secondary canon BUT also every Legend story is a story people in-universe know about in Star Wars.  Kathleen Kennedy said that last bit, she also said their was some truth in those legends.  Ergo secondary canon.

Please provide some proof of this, I'd love to see a source that actually backs up this claim of yours, because so far the only official statement I've ever seen said that the EU is non-canon, and that there is no such thing as different levels of canon any longer.

The statement by LFL/Disney was quite clear.

From this point forward, everything is Canon, and everything that was part of the EU is non-canon. Parts of the EU could be made into canon, by being included in canon stories, but there would no longer be different levels of canon. Either it is, or is is not canon.

Oh and also there's this...

on her twitter account dated April 25th 2014, Lucasfilm Senior Editor Jennifer Heddle stated that all EU properties that predate the deal with Disney are "non-canon" (her words).

Twitter exchange

So again no... Legends is not secondary canon, the events of Legends carries no weight at all in regards of what will happen in the SW universe.

Also, we now know for a fact that the Emperor did not survive after Endor, that alone makes half if not more of the EU non-canon because he was the bad guy in so many of those stories. With out him the whole story simply falls apart.

It's BKL, don't even try. There's already a 6 page long argument made by Vigil.

Crystal Star is my fourth least favorite Star Wars novel square between the Lando Calrissian Adventures, which I hate more, and the Jedi Prince series, which I hate slightly less. After that comes Darksaber followed by a mix of the rest of KJA's Star Wars novels and most of those by Traviss.

Funny, I actually liked KJA's Young Jedi Knights series for children/young teens. (although it definitely wasn't the best writing since it was for children)
