Any Rumors of Future Core Books after FaD?

Recommended Posts

why wouldn't there be non jedi kicking around? It is a very big galaxy.

Okay, let me clarify. When I first watched the original trilogy, I felt a sense of wonder at the prospect of Luke not only being A NEW HOPE, but possibly THE ONLY HOPE. When we later find out that "there is another", the mystery deepened. But if there's another, and another, and another (you get the picture), to my mind, it reduces the impact of that aspect of Star Wars. Not that I'm trying to put the last of the old/first of the new Jedi on a pedestal, but lots of Force users scurrying around, eluding the Empire indefinitely is a little dull (kind of like how so many people create dark elves in D&D because Drizzt is sort of cool, arguably). Also, it makes Vader seem less competent (again, my opinion, and corresponding only to how I feel about my personal vision of the SW universe) . I envisage a man who has hunted down every Force-user and bent them to his will or broken them on the wheel. Not someone who's head of a crisis management team dealing with some kind of infestation. Then again, if I was to have my way with the prequel trilogy, the Jedi order would be a scant few; secretive and aloof - more akin to the wizards in LotR or the witchers from The Witcher.

Edit: Thought I'd get a semi-colon in there. Gotta love them semi-colons.

In my mind the New Hope wasn't a force user but a child of Skywalker. One or a few force users weren't a major threat to the Empire. Only a child of the chosen one was.

As mentioned there has got to be a regular supply of force users being born since the Jedi didn't procreate and regularly replenish their ranks.

I agree. It isn't really all that logical that Luke was the only Force User around. How did the galaxy go from producing enough Force users to fill the Jedi Order plus the various other Force traditions that existed in the setting and then after the Jedi purge all of a sudden just stop and Luke and Leia are the last two Force users left. Luke isn't special because he's a Force user or even being trained as a Jedi. He was special because he saw a path to defeating Vader that didn't require force of arms. But being as how there were numerous side apprentices that Vader trained, Inquisitors, Emperor Hands, the Dark Side Prophets etc etc it doesn't make sense that Luke is just the only light side user left.

Guys, you do know that the fact that there is a possiblity to play a force user in your game doesn't mean that all the characters in all games are existing in universe at the same time, right?

We will use one or two characters from the book, they are some of a rare few in the universe.

Wait.. you mean this ISN'T a Massively Multiplayer Offline Roleplaying Game...?

I know you are joking, but that is how a lot of nay-sayers are treating it...

"There are not supposed to be 'Jedi' around!" "Wait so there are tens of thousands of force sensitives still roaming the Galaxy?"

I just wanted to state the obvious...

In a universe where travelling THROUGH THE PLANET CORE is a shortcut to reach a city that the invasion force landed on THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD from, Luke being on his lonesome seems among the least of its logical fallacies.

The planet core thing does not break in universe logic but the force user thing does.

One illogical thing doesn't excuse another. Besides the movies themselves destroy the idea that Luke is by his lonesome. There are 6 Force users in the movie (which makes up pretty much half the major cast). And when the possibility of Luke dieing comes up Yoda is fairly ambivalent on the matter simply stating that there was another. Whose to say that if Leia bought it next that Yoda would have continued with his non plussed investment on the issue with yet "there is another."

Maybe FFG could do a TF branded beginners game-type boxed set, and maybe this boxed set would have a complete set of rules with limited options based around TFA characters. If such a product is as limited as the other beginners games I wonder which CR it will point the consumer to?

If there's a Force Awakens product, I'm hoping we hear something about it this week with the whole "Force Friday" Episode 7 product reveals going on.

If they do have something coming, you have to admit they do an incredible job avoiding any leaks whatsoever.

There's something coming.  The FFG CEO said as much at the In-Flight report.

And when he talked about, he basically said something to effect of:  "I want to tell you guys about it, but if I did LucasFilm would disappear my @$$ so fast I'd look like a talking dust cloud."

Apparently they take their NDAs srsly.

Please, no more CRBs. The Holy Trinity has been complete. I don't have to spend a lot of time contemplating to conjure up concepts for close to a dozen source books.

they did say the cycle is complete. which to me says no more core books.  So I am thinking maybe era books in the future.

Empire Core would be awesome. We got stupid Rebels, I want me some Empire love.

I imagine they'd probably just do a sourcebook for AoR to convert it to be able to play Imperials.

Not that you need a sourcebook, you just literally say that they're Imps instead, and if they want fighters, give them suitable ones.

I would love something like WEG's Imperial sourcebook for the new system. And that isn't even counting all the ships, vehicles, and other hardware which FFG hasn't included so far which could appear there.

I would like it more as a series of splatbooks that tie in to the AoR set.

I expect we are unlikely to see any new core books, though the possibility of a single 'deluxe' book that has all 3 current core books merged into one might be possible I'd still say it is unlikely. For one, it would be a rather large book and fairly costly to print and ship and the current core books are already quite costly as it is.

Source books on the other hand, I could see them continuing to do a fair bit with that. Ways to tie into other time periods and settings, to incorporate things discovered in new movies as they are released, potentially even just books dedicated to vehicles or species.

I would love to see books that compile things like vehicles and adversaries.

Not going to happen.  they dont sell that well as just the GM buys a book like that. Books need to have a broader appeal. which is why books tend to have stuff for players and GMs.

Yup. We’re just going to have to depend on community resources like http://swrpg.viluppo.net/

I’m so sorry folks — you can’t pay FFG for this. But maybe Aahzmandius_Karrde would be willing to let you donate some money to him to help support the site. ;)

I would be happy with ship cards like they do for adversaries. I wonder how those are selling?

Gear and Weapon/attachment cards would also be potential sellers as well.
