Stokes52 52 Posted June 30, 2015 Hey all. The criminal and bounty hunter characters in Star Wars have always captured my imagination. When I started playing IA I found myself disappointed that many of the bounty hunters in the movies were not playable, nor were they planned for a Wave 1 or 2 expansion. Inspired by the Leia and Lando threads, I decided to try my hand at making interesting Mercenary deployment options that are thematic, balanced, and present unique synergies with existing units. Hopefully these units will make playing Scum lists a more attractive option when playing a casual skirmish with my friends.I plan to use miniatures from the Star Wars Minis game. You can find minis for a few bucks online.Feedback, suggestions, and critiques are welcome! If people like the idea, I will try my hand at creating printable deployment cards. I have ideas for Bossk and 4-LOM too, but I'm still working out how they will play.8 points - Boushh - Melee (Hunter/Spy) Boushh is described as a cunning hunter with a fondness for gadgets and explosives. In the movies, we see Leia impersonating Boushh by threatening to blow himself and everyone else up with a Thermal Detonator if he doesn’t get what we wants. I wanted to portray his love of explosives and willingness to take others down with him, but I didn’t want him to just be able to blow things up indiscriminately. If he takes a few rounds to prepare using Ruthless and Inventive, he can enter a fight and deal a lot of direct damage with Thermal Detonator, but if he runs in without first preparing his explosives, he won’t have enough actions to both ready his grenades and attack at the same time. Stats: HP: 10 A: Red Green D: White S: 5 Abilities: Reach ~ Pierce 1, Weaken ~ +1 dmg Ruthless and Inventive Action => Place one strain token on your deployment card. If your deployment card contains one or more strain tokens when you are defeated, each adjacent figure receives 3 damage Thermal Detonator Action => Discard one strain token from your deployment card. Choose a space within 3 spaces and roll 1 green die. Each figure on or adjacent to the chosen space suffers {x} equal to the {x} results. Cunning Evade results add +1 block 7 points - Dengar - Ranged (Hunter/Trooper) Dengar is a former Imperial soldier who is loaded with cybernetics and has a bit of a cruel streak. He’s considered a second rate hunter by most, but what he lacks in cunning he makes up for in raw survivability and damage. True to his persona, he is weak on his own, but with his Merciless trait, he becomes a powerful side kick to certain other figures. Stats: HP: 9 A: Blue Green D: Black S: 4 Abilities: +1 Block ~ +2 dmg ~ +3 accuracy Merciless: +2 dmg when attacking a figure that is stunned, weakened, or bleeding. 5 points - Zuckuss - Ranged (Hunter/Spy) Zuckuss is a powerful support figure that provides Scum lists with much needed mobility and a way to consistently apply conditions with his Snare Gun. This makes him a great pair with Dengar. He has similar stats as Jyn, but instead of attacking when enemies activate, he uses his Gand Intuition to move, allowing him to either escape line of sight, or get closer to objectives. Crucially, he can use this more than once per round, making him a slippery target. Stats: HP: 6 A: Blue Green D: White S: 5 Abilities: ~ Move 2 ~ +1 dmg ~ +2 Accuracy Gand Intuition When a hostile figure in your line of sight is activated, you may move one space. Snare Gun Action(x2) => =>Choose a figure within 5 spaces in your line of sight. That figure becomes stunned and weakened 2 Radarman5 and ibsh reacted to this
ibsh 401 Posted June 30, 2015 Hell yes. Very well characterised, as I mentioned in PM. They really feel like Scum. Let us know how playtesting goes, please! The only thing that looks slightly OP to me is +2 damage on Dengar's surge. It feels to me like +1 is more in tune with his cost. 1 Stokes52 reacted to this
