Can an invader attack another invader?

I have just bought the game and had a question after my first play.

I had some zombies that was left behind in a early section after the marines forward spawned away from them.

Can I attack and kill the zombies figure with another invader figure to make the zombies available for spawning or setups in later rooms?

"If the invader players wishes to spawn a figure on the
board, but he is already using all of his available figures,
he may choose to remove an invader figure from
the board, to make that figure available for immediate
placement by a spawn card (or when a new area of the
scenario is revealed)." (p. 7)

Cacodemon (from expansion) has Blast ability and there is Tick Blast card, otherwise, not friendly fire/mauling for invaders.

I totally missed that part when reading the rulebook. Will re-read the rulebook before posting any new questions.
