Different questions

Recommended Posts

I recently bought base game and expansion and have some questions:

Ready action: If you choose ready action as an action, the marine may place an aim order at any time during the action (rules: "The order
may be placed at any time during his turn."). Can you choose to remove that order to make the attack that is part of the same ready action (if you choose to attack rather than move) the order was place in an aimed attack?

Expansion content: Is the content of the expansion (i.e. invader cards and new invader mniatures) supposed to be used for the missions of the base game also?

Zombie Commandos: The Zombie Commandos seem to be a lot better than the ordinary Zombies. Why choose Zombies at all when you have the expansion?

Sure. Check the thread on the Tactician for more.

Go for it. That's why you get the nifty A = B monster swap chart.

Quoting myself from BGG:

"I don't have the expansion yet, though downloaded the complete ref sheet that has stats for all the monster and been pondering on the Z vs ZC issue myself. Given that ZC has Deadly (at least if the ref sheet I got here from BGG is correct) and Chaingun dice, the max Damage seems to be 7 for both, unless I'm mistaken. But on the surface, I'm being tempted by the 2 Green dice for distance. Looking at the dice values, looks like ZC can do 7 dmg from 3 squares away, but 6 from up to 5 squares away. Incidentally, 7 or 6 doesn't really matter, as they'll do the same amount of Health to pretty much any marine. Sure, against Machine Gun you'll lose, but against Shotgun/Chainsaw freaks (esp. since they tend to have Special Ops), I'm leaning towards ZC. 3 vs 4 durability only really makes a difference in that you can Pistol-whip a ZC with decent odds, while needing really max damage to take out a Z."

(have since added the expansion)

I usually take 2+2 of Z-ZC (same deal with Cherub-Trite and Imp-Revenant). I'll add that Pistol-whip can also be replaced by Fist-whip, even bare Fist (esp. with Special Ops or Officer) can take out a ZC with decent odds (50-50?, too lazy to check), saving ammo, while taking out an unwounded Z requires much better luck.

I know BGG has a file for the base game cards, I used that to see which card I was missing, Thaadd hooked me the missing card in no time aplauso.gif . Of course, my base game is the Finnish version (store didn't have the English one on the shelf at that time) and the replacement was an English card, but the back is the same, so no worries (don't know about sizes, my cards are sleeved). After adding the expansion, have used the expansion Invader deck exclusively.

You can see the Marine cards from the expansion in a BGG image IIRC.

As for the list (just names and quantity):

Marine:

Assassin

Big Guy

Careful

Crack Shot

Danger Sense

Efficient Killer

Lean and Mean

Lithe (the oh-so fan-favourite lengua.gif )

Perfect Aim

Tech Op

Invader:

3x Charge

3x Crushing Blow

2x Darkness

2x Dark Summons

2x Descent Into Madness (personal favourite #1)

3x Dodge

3x Dud

3x Earthquake (personal favourite #2)

3x Jammed

4x Misidentified

2x Rage

3x Smash

2x Soul Fire

3x Surprise Attack

3x Tick Blast

4x Wraith Jump

rest are Spawn cards, which I'm way too lazy to do a full comparison with the base game deck, but I think their types and numbers (2 Imps, Zombie + Trite, etc.) are exactly the same. Also, don't know about scatter spread, but again assume it remains the same.
